  4. Thanks @Shehab Alawadhi for noticing and bringing this topic to the surface as I was completely swamped this week to make an announcement for this new feature. Big thanks goes to all the Carnity Team who who were behind the thought process and fine tuning it to the perfection. Second thanks to god send coder who could understand off-roaders language, as we were struggling behind this feature for over 6 months and just got lucky last month with this new programmer who can understand beyond 1010010101010.
  5. Don't buy one until you see one or few in action in UAE sand regularly. Putting a legendary name plate (defender) doesn't really qualify for anything. Car makers using this technique of putting legendary 4x4 models plate on business suit models to target wider audience. We have seen loads of Nissan Patrol Y62, Land Rover Discovery bumpers getting sloshed on first dune, failing electronics preventing LO gear when you need the most, etc. FJC what you have is one of the best off-roader rolled off from the factory floor without the need of tinkering or risking anything. Just enjoy it.

  11. @Lawrence_Chehimi listening to tire shop is not very advisable as they will only push the tire with max margin. You should watch the real winner by seeing how many offroaders in carnity and other clubs, in parking lot drive and swear by geo. I'm using them since 2012 after trying grandtrek, bridgestone, cooper ATR and STT, BFG, LTX etc. @Wade Pat2 from quick online look this new LTX Force looks like another future winner tbh as it has some off-road tread to get you through self recovery and moderate wadi trails. Go for it, as you can never go wrong with Michelin.
  12. Any tire can pop-out when over-deflated (leaking valve), hard hit while turning, etc. I'm using G015 since Nov 2020 and so far no pop-out. I always deflate to 10-11 PSI. BFG are the heaviest tire money can buy and will limit sand off-roading climbs "SUBSTANTIALLY", super bad on gas mileage, but they rock on mountains, self-recovery and of course looks.
  13. I have had experience with Michelin LTX (not the force - newer version) and Geolander extensively. I totally agree Michelin makes the best tires and though they are slightly pricey, but they will outlast as well. Michelin LTX are great for road and awesome for sand off-roading as they are lighter and smoother, BUT they aren't good for self-recovery while sand off-roading and they are too soft for wadi and mountain and you will slit the sidewall easily in the mountains. Geolander on the other hand are the lightest AT tires that work wonder in sand (driving and self-recovery), reasonably good and safe for mountains and reasonably acceptable for road comfort and noise.
  14. Million dollar advise. Time spent in searching is better than time and money spending in fixing.
  15. In simple words: Move away and find another deal. Here are the red flag that I observe: Radiator change - points to either accident or hardcore off-road or defer maintenance. Either case you shouldn't buy lemon, as when radiator bursted or leaking you don't know how long car has been overheated. It take 1 time full red-zone needle to leak the head gasket and you will be ending fixing that or changing engine as a worst case scenario. 1 month old and selling - he must have got the lemon from previous owner and it must be overheating while off-road so he wanna get rid of it too. Off-road Xterra has bilstein shock and they are in silver color (I guess), google it surely with VIN number. If you seeing yellow shocks means 100% its being heavily off-road in previous life, so move away. In my view buying road driven Xterra with FSH from dealer is FAR better than off-road version. If you can buy offroad version with no traces of off-road or mild off-road then you are lucky.
  16. My take: Whichever you love the most due to emotional value, attachment and bigger smile - Keep that one. If both are same - then H2 - ANYDAY.
  17. Love to see your assumptions in actions. I was just trying to share my own experience from the past and of course you should try your own ideas as with times many things, specs, and limitation changes. Go for it. Bigger tire will surely adds to better ground clearance to enhance approach angle and speed so you can attack Faya at 60 kmph than 40 kmph. Btw all these advises I purely shared out of my personal experience and frustration and have no relevance to Carnity offroad structure requirements, where extreme drives are marked as optional. You can still become an expert or even marshal with same LC100 and stock size tires as car is just 25% of the overall equation. Just clarifying.
  18. Re-gearing is a performance mod and not a power mod. You won't have more wheel powers with re-gearing but make a best use of existing wheel power. LC100 is inherently underpowered for long hill climb (I suffered for 2 years), and adding 15 kgs more per wheel will seriously limit your long hill climb even after the re-gearing. Jeepers get away with re-gearing to a greater extent as stock wrangler runs in 130-140 hp/ton bracket vs LC100 90-100 hp/ton.
  19. Good luck for hill climbs now with almost 33 inch tires, unless you have done some good power mods.
  20. Very well said @Arman but sadly people after spending 2600 instead of 160 don't tend to share their story and learning like yours. Either they are too busy / rich / afraid to tell the saga. Here's the section you can use: https://carnity.com/forums/forum/268-offroad-mods-diy
  21. My best 3 clicks are in gallery. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/747-lens-lovers-photography-meet-dubai-11-may-2021 Appreciate if everyone can upload pics and add details of exposure, iso and F-speed to help understand astrophotography more.
  22. Thanks @Mikhail Lukichev and @Frederic for this super informative and educating session for astro photography. Thanks for sparing your time to share the knowledge and work arounds with everyone. I can't wait to shoot more as I'm getting used to of using my camera in M mode - after 10 years same like Brette. Next stop........Moon shot......?
