If you have a radio, please program on above Carnity Frequency. If you do not have a radio yet, no worries we will provide you with a spare for this drive only. When you arrive tomorrow morning, you can start deflating your tyres to 15psi if you have normal/highway tyres, and 12psi in case you have offroad tyres. Please arrive on time 6AM, earlier is even better so we can help you out with deflation if needed. Seniors on the drive are myself, and @Pancho who will be sweeping the convoy and we will both help you out in case of refusals, stucks, which is all part of the game (and fun) After deflating we will do a briefing to emphasize on the aspects of offroading and the teamwork involved when becoming part of our offroad community. If you have not watched the Absolute Newbie briefing video yet, please do so, as we have compiled this video with all essential information one should know before entering the desert with a 4x4. In case of emergencies, you can contact me on 050 5258706. See you all tomorrow ! MUST WATCH: NEWBIE VIDEO BRIEFING

  5. Gentle Reminder @Rowi Elsaid @William Fernandes Welcome to Carnity and it's off-road club. I'm really looking forward to seeing you all on 15 Jan. Kindly introduce yourself with the below details: Please share your vehicle details - Make, Model, Year. Do you have any prior off-road experience? 6. Hi @Serafino welcome to Carnity offroad club, as this week AN drive is already full, so you can RSVP on next week 22 Jan Absolute Newbie drive.
  7. “Congratulations on your marriage and best wishes always!” Hope you are ready for your BIG DAY, tomorrow.... @Barry?
  8. Your main culprit of pop-out must be Bridgestone dueler HT tires very similar to Dunlop Grandtrek HT in sand. Both are borderline OK in sand, but more prone to pop-out. Changing to proper off-road AT tire will make a big difference. Now changing from 17 to 16 is advisable but not big of an issue. If you can do that easily, it's worth an upgrade to have marginal extra rubber for better flotation. If its too much hassle or expensive, then leave it at 17 Inch.
  9. Start locking the radio, so accidental change of frequencies can be prevented. Motorola has a star key to press for long to lock the keypad and channel button. Also use lanyard to hand radio on neck if there is no tight place like cupholder or armrest you can use to secure the radio.

  12. You can go with Borla and/or Magnaflow (esp hushflow) lower decibel but free flow product. I'm using these both brand and happy from last 5 years or so. Beware that with loud noise Sharjah police can and will stop you to hand over 2,000 dhs fine. I recently got one last year when one of my flange gasket was leaking and making tiny bit extra noise, though well within 80 DB (allowed by RTA). So I fixed those gasket and went to Maliha police station to dance on cops tune to waive 2K fine. Apparently I also installed a flexi joint in between as main culprit of broken gasket was high speed dune attack and on harder bumps it stretched my exhaust setup and cracked that gasket. So while at it, consider flexi joint too.
  13. Thanks for clarifying @Natarajan and @Rajendran D that you are sharing the same system. In case you share the same vehicle too, please read and comply with below guideline. Thanks.

  15. Congratulations @Lorenzo Candelpergher, @Janarthan and @Luca Palanca Falsini for successfully completing the first session of leaders lead with flying colors. As you all have learned the basics first and demonstrated a perfect way to lead an independent drive in the desert, now it's your chance to work on the routing and planning skills. You will be learning the basics of leading the convoy in the desert in three different steps: Advance sand reading, plan your lead, plan your exits. Use of navigational software for selecting the right course of path. How to systematically scale the lead for all the cars in the convoy. In this second session of leaders lead you will be leading with the help of off-road navigation app or device. You can choose any device or app (motionx, gaia, mytrail etc) and mark these basic points and you will be required to reach any one or few of them: Entry and Exit Solar Park Al Qudra Desert Opp Bab Al Shams Mark long range playable dunes Mark pylon tracks, cycle tracks Mark as many sabka, flat track or easy exits in case of emergency Mark fencing or restricted area Mark technical dunes P.S. I will personally check each of your device to verify and help you further. 16. As @Soumya Saklani just left the RSVP, so @kolinrrj you have been added to this Absolute Newbie Drive. Please confirm. Hi @Ganesan Kathirvel @Shehzada Umer Naseer @Rowi Elsaid @William Fernandes @Mobeen Anwar @Junaid120120 @Sandeep Subhash @Rajendran D @Natarajan @Ahmad Shaker @Trekado @kolinrrj For your first drive, I will be carrying the spare radios with Carnity frequency for everyone. Please get the remaining items mentioned above in the drive post.
  17. Ground clearance is the distance between the front bumper and the tarmac. 2010 FJC showing 9.6 Inches so you are good, unless you or previous owner lowered the vehicle or its 4x2 - US specs.
  18. This one is extremely common for newbies or amateur offroaders and we have seen many similar side flips and roll-over, the key culprit here are below two reasons: Follow the line of car in front has taken, as precisely as possible. If you slip down, then call it a refusal and exit safely to circle to make a second attempt. Fighting with gravity when you missed the line is the key mistake that many new offroaders make and they will only learn to perfect the line with continuous experience. Soft sand, tire pressure, leaving gas all come secondary and play very marginal role to save or worsen the situation.
  19. Hi @Ganesan Kathirvel @Shehzada Umer Naseer @Rowi Elsaid @William Fernandes @Mobeen Anwar @Junaid120120 @soumyasaklani @Sandeep Subhash @Rajendran D @Natarajan @Ahmad Shaker @Trekado Welcome to Carnity and it's off-road club. 20. Monetro has 215 hp on 2 ton = 107.5 hp/ton is a not bad of an off-road vehicle it's just that we have not seen many Montero owners pushing 6k rpm at 1st gear for long hill climb and leave the gas in between. I rem driving Angela Montero once on sideys and it matched my Pajero height very well. Back to OP 82 vs 107 is a big notable difference.
  21. So basically Nissan now wants "NEW" Xterra owner to really work hard on off-road skills than just push and go. 165 hp over 2 ton = 82.5 hp/ton super underpowered for sand (at least). But still Nissan marketing wants to highlight it as an offroad vehicle.
  22. @Farook Veettil and @Jack Thomas I have removed you both from this drive, as it's for absolute newbies with carnity only. You both have driven with Carnity before, so kindly join other 11 drives, if any drive of your choice is full then please leave your name in waitlist and trip lead will add you as soon as someone drops out.
