  1. Yes indeed, that's what I am still trying to search the bill and warranty card but I had a recent engine change on this car, so all stuff is packed and in a great mess in various places.
  2. People considering buying the best car battery in UAE, should read my latest post on to how to avoid fake car battery in UAE?
  3. In my Pajero last year I got the battery changed from one of the trusted shop in Satwa and to my surprise battery has died last night. It must be just over a month after the one year warranty over. Usually, this behavior happens in the cheapest car battery like Solite and AC Delco and to avoid this annual headache I opted for Yuasa - Made in Japan and paid 350+ instead of 200-250 dhs. Just a few days back I have been to Abu Dhabi to put some kms on this new engine, so battery must be fully charged. Then I used the car for office for a day and the next day when I picked up the car, the battery died completely that I'm unable to jump start with Range Rover and Trailblazer. I even left Trailblazer jump start for 45 mins thinking it will boost the battery but nothing happened. Took the picture last night to find a replacement and while searching just now to find this battery dimensions, I got surprised that none of the Yuasa batteries looks like this one at all. I searched for almost all the regions and they have different branding, color scheme but never made such a bland printed battery. Then I spotted the term "Reference only" means (and I assume) that this must be fake Yuasa battery that did the offset single color printing and used all specs of Yuasa and its logo and wrote "Reference only" in a very clever spot. Yuasa does use white color printing but that has MF written on a huge font and not minuscule like this one and also they write the battery number like YT-12B-S and along with the website address. None of the Yuasa batteries images I have seen in google carrying this "Reference only" term. And even the recycle icon should not have a lead symbol (Pb) underneath it. Yes, it does sound like spot the difference contest...! I am sure majority of the buyers when distress with a died battery will not give time to check these brand colors, logo, graphics, website address, battery number etc. and will definitely never understand what does "Reference only" means (its fake). So next time you buy any car battery in UAE, just google search same brand, type, and spec to see if the exact identical image appears or not.
  4. Indeed its good to buy for offroading, but everyone reading this review should not miss the point that owner made to find a clean one means finding a needle in the haystack. Chances are 1 in 1000 available here in UAE is a clean one. Sri got really lucky to find an owner who owns this for last 17 years and used it almost on road.
  5. Nice video, especially the spring tires, very thoughtful and creative way to kill time.
  6. And you find this one moron on every road, everyday cutting 3 lanes at once
  7. Awesome review beautifully captures all the points and concern for new buyers. Well done @skumar83 Knowing this one personally and few other Cherokees fate in the past, my million dollar advise is to find a "CLEAN ONE".
  8. 3000 x 33 = 99,000 where is rest of the fines...? And I see 3k fines are half of it than 600 - 1500 so must be around 60K in fines escalated to 175K like a Chinese whisper
  9. Finally, my darling Pajero is almost 100% back in form now. @shadow79 and Jalil installed this new engine three weeks back and the car started in the first crank. Kudos to Jalil's, great workmanship and attention to the detail - pretty impressive mechanic. Thanks, Saleem for all the support and speedy assistance. Thanks, @Barry for all the time and support. So far I have tested this new engine on two off-road drives and I'm pretty happy with the performance so far. On the first drive I didn't push much, to gauge the engine response and heating issue (if any), but on last Friday I tested this engine at iftar bowl hill climb and the car went up from left and right side in one attempt in HI gear. Last night I put the REDEX double dose of fuel system cleaner and drove to Abu Dhabi, that smoothen up the idle and also bumped the fuel efficiency and clear up the exhaust smell, so hoping to see some better throttle response in next drive. After we started the engine, we have opened the old engine and found the culprit but still, the mystery remains unclear as of why oil supply was insufficient to fry that metal.
  10. It was an amazing early morning drive, although started a bit late but had loads of fun after a long time. Thanks, @Shafiq for excellent second lead and keeping the convoy safe at all time. For a first time second lead, you have done a wonderful job. We started from Bidayer by 5.00 AM and reached Iftar bowl by 8.00 AM and spent a good hour at top of Iftar bowl and now traffic started coming back as heat has reduced a little bit. By 9.00 we approached the super bowl and due to excessive heat by 10ish, we decided to safely exit as sand was getting too soft to continue in such hot weather. It was a great come back drive for all of us that after a long time we got back together with old time memories and drive style. Thanks, @Rahimdad, @Asif Hussain, @skumar83 @Shafiq and @shadow79 for the participation and great teamwork.
  11. In some US cars, this check engine light can up when fuel tank lid is not closed properly even and for some other minor issues or loose connections. Can you explain what happens when this check engine light comes up? Does car stalls or behave differently? And how does that light goes off? Usually orange color means its a minor warning and not as serious as red but I am not sure about the dash display of your Mercury Mountaineer, check your owners manual to know whether your car has orange (minor) and red (major) color warning system as well.
  12. Yes, I have been to Salalah before, you can take sedan without any issues as far as it is well maintained. Most of the places in Salalah have road access and you can still be fine, just that very few mountain areas, if you like to explore then proper SUV or 4x4, is advisable.
  13. Congrats @sertac on your big day, see you soon on the other side 😋

  16. BMW seems to do some hard testing for their 2019 BMW X4 in Nurburgring. Looks pretty big and bulky but engine roar and stability seems quite impressive

  19. I think approx 2,000 AED for a couple for fuel + accommodation for 5 days - excluding shopping.
  20. This is another crazy and stupid trend, so many sensible "looking" people are really mindless these days. Sri, it was a joke...? really so dumb to be a joke even. How did it catch global attention in such a quick span of time? I thought it was a challenge...!
  21. Barry has covered almost everything well, the only thing I like to add as you are buying an old car - 2015 model. Get the car fully checked before buying to not to see any underbody damage, hanging bumpers, skirting, side steps, wheel scratches from inside etc. usually happen in offroad cars.

  23. Planning a road trip to beautiful Salalah in Aug end to escape the UAE summer during upcoming Eid Al Adha break. Looks like Eid holidays will start from 22 - 25 Aug and 21 Aug will be Arafat day. Going to Salalah soon after the rainy season (July-Aug), is the best treat you can give to your eyes and mind. Everything turns lush green during that time and looks like you are in some heavenly place. Apart from the endless natural beauty, Salalah also offers some interesting places to visit like anti-gravity point, boat rides, kayaking, visiting blowholes, waterfalls, exotic birds watching etc. Just to beat the rush at the border, hotels, and Salalah we will start one day earlier, which will give us enough rest and time to explore Salalah for 4 full days + 2 days for the road trip. Planning early will help in securing all rooms in one hotel for Carnity members and we might get a good deal in bulk booking, so please decide ASAP. Tentative Travel plan: Start: 21 Aug 2018 – 3 AM Drive 1200 km with 15-30 mins break every 200 km Reach Salalah: 21 Aug 2018 – 6-7 PM Hotel check-in and relax Salalah Places to visit: 22 Aug – 25 Aug 2018 Return: 26 Aug 2018 – 4 AM Reach Dubai: 26 Aug 2018 – 6-7 PM Level of drive: All are welcome Type of Car: Any car is acceptable Plan: Road trip + daily trip in Salalah after the lazy breakfast What to bring along: Camera, music, lots of casual clothes, beachwear, smiles, stories, enthusiasm Please list your name and mobile below and RSVP the calendar.
