As the weather is getting better so we can restart our old fashion - early morning drives that leave the whole Friday on hand for family and friends. And what better place to do the newbie opening morning drive at Bidayer area to enjoy the sunrise on top of Big Red. After enjoying the sunrise and quick play time, we will head to pink rock through some nice night cold dunes. This area offers all level terrain in some easy to medium size rolling dunes, and we expect to finish at the pink rock area. This is an all level drive, fit for newbies and fewbies as well. Learned from my Range Rover days, that leave all these air suspensions setting at default or normal or on-road setting forever and don't bump them up and down or hard/soft frequently unless really required. I followed same advice in Cayenne Turbo and never had any issue, unlike my RR days.

After a very long time, we had some serious drive in an excellent terrain, after all, it's Al Faqa which is famous for its white sands and continuous medium size dunes. We started a little bit late, and straight away head to the deflation point where Asif Bhai and family joined us. After the quick brief and convoy numbering, we headed into the easy bit of Al faqa dunes to get everyone into the motion. As we were heading from waypoint 2 to 3 a bit more challenging terrain, we experience some heavy sandstorm in the evening due to which our convoy move slowed down a little bit. After the sand storm settled down we head to waypoint 3 which has good rolling dunes to play. We all had enough attempts of massive sideys, broad ridge riding and ridge cutting that after 30 mins of this extensive play everyone had a big smile on their faces. It was one of the best drives to open the off-road season, and as the weather gets better we should try a bit longer drive in this area. Asif Bhai managed his LWB pickup very well in this area. Sri and sister also did extremely well with their manual Cherokee on which they are still mastering the gear usage. In the end, our Superman with fully loaded pathy protected everyone to be on track and did recover a couple of times. Overall, small and super tight drivers made this whole drive an amazing experience to remember. Thanks everyone for driving and keeping the momentum at its best in such terrain. Just before we could head to waypoint 4 one of the car pop-out resulted in a leaking valve or badly seated valve losing the air from the stem. Due to this scenario, we head towards safe exit through the track and hit the road and change the tire to spare wheel for the road driving. As drive was so good, that we literally had no time for snacks break, that we need to enjoy our snacks at the inflation point after exiting. Thanks, Meshu for chicken samosa's, Asif Bhai for muffins and his trademark tea and Rahim Bhai for the pringles and drinks. Best 4 hours spent in the desert.

Not really to answer you, but to help other curious guys my advice is above video things are must for any used car buyer. Then if you still suspect that engine power is not almost restored then go for old fashion compression test and find out if any or all cylinders reading are under 100 PSI then you have to attend those issues - leaking valves/gasket / piston rings etc. Reading a compression test result is very simple and very effective in debugging the real cause of loss of power. Much better than listening to greedy workshops. The only thing I would advise more in above video is to switch to platinum spark plug than normal ones as they fire much better and last almost forever to recover their expensive price tag. I have done that in my Pajero 6 years back and never changed them again.

With enough experience in this desert community, it's the right time to call for Al Faqa white sand dunes drive. Although it's not very tricky or difficult area, but due to its white sand in most of the area it does get little tricky to read at times. Yup, if the car never overheated and gauge never risen up in the past I say leave it and keep an eye on temperature gauge for any unusual movement. While temperature moves up, it's also normal to hear loud gushing engine fan noise as the fan wants to run at higher rpm to lower the engine temperature, so don't panic if that ever happens.

That's normal as AC increase the electric fan speed or switch on AC fan for the condenser. Apart from that have you ever heard engine fan noise going louder or quieter? Have you ever seen engine temperature gauge rising from its normal position? What symptoms prompted dealer to check AC fan?

I never mentioned grinding noise. I said do you hear loud gushing (whooshing) noise occasionally ever.............? or it's always running at one constant speed?

Is your car has two electric fans mounted on the radiator? Please find out and explain what you hear and see when: The car just started in morning? loud gushing noise, that get settled after few minutes and it becomes quiet? OR Same constant noise through out No noise at all Car in stop and go traffic in the afternoon with AC on? loud gushing noise, that get settled after few minutes and it becomes quiet?
