Many cars has soul especially my Pajero, I always tell mechanic before working that don't be hard on her or else it won't start. Just a fresh story: I got my new Pioneer head unit yesterday, so went for installation and guy was bit rough in handling. Advise him politely couple of times and he was nice to me but again slightly rough with Pajero wiring, DIN brackets and all. Few minutes later he got nasty cut on his hand and bleeding so bad that I have to offer him band aid and then another fellow took over and finished the rest of the job. For LR, the best thing that I liked in my Discovery and Range Rover was it's seating position angle and comfort. You sit like a king having super clear view of every inch of road in most comfortable and spacious seating with armrest (WOW). Yes LR's armrest is a big deal as I always surprise why many car manufacturer adopted to add the arm rest with the seat, as it correct the driver posture than leaning all the time to the center console. Armrest based driving is worth the value of whole car. I remember while coming back from Salalah in Range Rover I did 1400 Kms in one stretch in 8-9 hrs duration, I felt sleepy but not tired. Defender is a different story altogether, I personally feel it's resale is sky rocketing due to it's extremely tough, durable and long lasting built. LR kept it so simple and mechanical that not much chance to go wrong in 70's and when LR realized that as a USP, they just continued on that same legacy.

It's very nice and irritating game barry. Nice to look but damn irritating to find/search perfect fit. Does it have to be perfect count or we can fit in ending or starting numbers like below for 911 will work for 11th position?

Hi Stefan, welcome aboard I am sure you will enjoy here with other gearheads, petrolheads and car enthusiast's. How's the performance and maintenance with your XF, as I have been seriously looking for one to swap my Mustang with 4 door luxury sport as tired of hitting my right knee in cramped position. Is yours is V6 SC or V8 SC, I think V8 stopped in 2012 right...?

@Jeh thanks for re-visiting carnity after long time. If you are joining, we will see what safe changes we can do in the route to keep all shutterbugs happy. I also been to that Dam last sep, its really nice road but last few kms is unpaved and we will see closer to the date as how much downpour we are getting?

Thanks to all the Carnity active members for joining the previous off-road drives and have shown the great enthusiasm. We plan to give equal opportunities to all car enthusiast's to enjoy the carnity drives. Hence this time we plan to head out to Fujairah through Kalba road to enjoy the most scenic view in the UAE. Perfect opportunity for photographers to hone their skills and make good use of their camera (in my case). Meeting point: Last ADNOC on Sharjah-Kalba (Maliha) road GPS Coordinates: https://goo.gl/maps/PBLWyryWVyH2 Meeting time: 10 AM Photo stops: 3-4 stops en route (15 mins each) Reaching Kalba: 12:30 (for Friday prayers) Mosque in Kalba: https://goo.gl/maps/cEJHwkBnDHB2 Reaching Fujairah: 2 PM Fujairah Corniche: https://goo.gl/maps/HZDwCicvuGz Enjoy Friday lunch on Fujairah beach with the whole group Enjoy Jet skies, Para Sailing or boat ride on Fujairah beach. If we have enough interest will hire a boat to visit neighboring island (1 hr) for more photo opportunities for the shutterbugs. What to bring along: Friday lunch whatever you like to eat and share with others, water, liquids, smiles, stories, enthusiasm and eye for picture perfect. Approximate finish time : 6-7 PM

Some very good points made by Hassam and knightjp. Totally agree. I think the speedo error by 2-3 kms is placed intentionally by car manufacturers to counter the human errors, as none of the car manufacturers ever realise that in Dubai we live fast and furious 8 chase on daily basis, where every 1 kmph speed is a deal breaker, lol. My wife trail blazer have slightly smaller tire as per OEM size and it runs at 113 when reading 120. My Mustang and Pajero has slightly bigger tires so they run very accurate like 119-120 when it reads 120. Ethically tailgating in fast lane is the problem of the front car as one should not block any car in fast lane irrespective of the speed. Ethically tailgating in all the rest of the right lanes is the problem of rear car, as you can't push people to drive faster. Go overtake from left and pass. Problem here is the temperament and attitude people hold that if they give way, then they will become smaller. So to satisfy this dumb F ego they drive at 80 and block traffic who wants to pass at 120. Everyday on ras al khor Road in the morning and on nad al hammar road in evening I see this behavior for more than 4-5 times in 10 kms stretch. These are the mentally sick people who drive at 80 in fast lane with only aim to block traffic. Sometimes there are few drivers whose attention are diverted on phone, but most of the time they are doing it on purpose. I really don't know why?

One of the best and most amazing trip we have done so far with carnity, too bad for the people who missed it as only 4 car made it for this wonderful drive, after 3 pulling out last minute. I am sure Jason got full attention to bond with his cherokee as closer to the end, his drive style has changed (for good) completely. After all Lisali to Qudra is not an easy track, but he managed to complete 2+ hour dunes with only single stuck at the beginning. Enjoy the pics, video will follow shortly.

Recce drive was nice today and it was a good idea (thanks Rahim bhai for suggesting) to sketch newbie route amidst the lisalli white soft sand small dunes. These small dunes are very technical dunes and we have found a way to avoid them. However everyone driving tomorrow advised to be very slow while going down the dunes, as we have spotted quite a few pockets that can hit the car front if you are too fast. Be rest assure that we will end the drive at very beautiful qudra lake and also find a nice bbq spot in closer vicinity.

Thanks for the suggestion, but from the shop I got the speakers installed we agreed for these higher RMS speaker and amp together. However amp wasn't able to fit under driver seat so we left all the wiring and cables for amp but didn't installed it actually. As a second option he showed me the output of similar active subwoofer and I wasn't convince at all, as similar or an inch less bass is already coming from my rear 100 RMS speaker. With current situation I have to pump the volume to above 20 to enjoy little bass, and close to 30 for good bass but it looses quality (not distorting off course). Now when I already have 60 and 100 RMS speaker but head unit supporting 52W x4, then I think my next best bet is to opt for this high class D amp and see if the clarity at top volume satisfy my ears and then decide for sub or not.

No vehicle was not lifted and it was purely situational accident. If any newbie would have done similar error of being too close or steer upward right when car sliding down left, then maximum he would have got stuck as fighting with gravity. Here coz of rain sand was tight and that didn't allowed vehicle to sink in and get stuck - resulting in flip. Secondly he is being too close, could be the cause of poor visibility. May be... Change of position in convoy from 3rd to 2nd was his only fully liable mistake as second lead sometimes get tricky and that's why we have placed a feewbie driver there. Everyone should respect their convoy numbers unless you have 20-30 drive experience under your belt.

While I was reasonably happy with my Pajero barebone speakers after installing the single DIN Sony unit few years back, now I decided to upgrade the whole car audio system - preferably to Pioneer. Though this is my offroad ride, so I want to upgrade this music system to mid-level audio and not the competition level please. I changed all the speakers to below Pioneer model: Front door: Pioneer TS-A1686S - 350W - 60W RMS Back Seat: Pioneer TS-A6996S - 650W - 100W RMS Now I am seeking advise for adding decent level amplifier and smallest but working woofer due to space constraint. I shortlisted below models, can someone more knowledgeable in car audio watts and numbers advise if this amp and woofer will be compatible enough to the speakers that I bought last week? Amp: Pioneer GM-D9605 - Class D 5-Channel Amplifier with Wired Bass Boost Sub: Pioneer TS-SWX2502 - 10" Shallow-Mount Pre-Loaded Enclosure

Causes of this flip: Overnight rain before the drive Heavy sandstorm Poor visibility Too close to the car in front Wrong judgement to steer upward when car is already sliding down Although video is from a distance and it's not clear, but you can get a quick feel for all the above causes.

We missed you too @slick72 Apparently air-bag didn't deployed may be coz the vehicle angle was less than 90 degrees tilt (may 89.9 degree lol) due to sand or it may not be working at all. The switch for traction is very good idea if your vehicle is too irritating to not to let you spin the wheels (must for sand). In most of the Japanese and American it's not very strict as compare to UK and German cars. No idea about on switching off ABS. Switching airbags off seems to have a big trade-off to not to let them operate even when vehicle has a roll, I wouldn't choose to switch airbag off unless I am hitting super extreme drive where while cris-crossing angle may increase by 90 degree tilt (45 left + 45 right) in less than fraction of a second. Back to OP: For sharing the flip / roll info, I and rahimdad also never understood the real reason with so many offroad club we drove, but we never question to not to disrespect any club policy. While we had this small flip, we both agree to share for the sake of analyzing the situation and educating every off-roader whether they drive with us or with any other club. Understanding the risk involve is the only way to make people aware of adopting to use the best practice and drive safe and follow the convoy discipline and never underestimate the mother nature.

Mitsubishi Eclipse bad factory paintjob
Gaurav replied to evoboy2016's topic in Mitsubishi Eclipse Forum in UAE
Totally agree with treks, Mitsubishi paint quality really sucks may be as they sell their cars too cheap from the rival. I got my Pajero resprayed with 3 layer Octoral paint Standox clearcoat few months back and sealed it with 3M protection. -
Totally agree and that is because of all litterbugs go there only. Same thing ended up with hatta pools and so many other beautiful scenic spots in UAE. Driving off-road seriously come as a blessing in such scenario, so we can venture out and about to scout a clean spot. BTW, below estimated track from lisali to qudra may excite everyone more here.

This is more than perfect for newbie to fewbie level, if you listen and follow the advice and drive discipline.

Very nicely explained by @Rahimdad but only thing I like to add is 4x4 that comes with body kit and/or lower bumper lip will loose most of the beautification add-on after every desert drive. So hope your prado isn't having any of these modifications...? Appreciate if you can post the pictures of your prado from all 4 sides and we can advise you appropriately. Last two week back we did newbie drive with grand Cherokee with lower lip, and thankfully nothing happened but it has been advised to the driver in advance to remove the lower lip before venturing in the desert.

Al Ardhi - Land Rover's mobile app for off-road enthusiasts
Gaurav replied to Rahimdad's topic in Offroad General Discussion
@amid you don't need/have to be so negative and think of all LR owners are alike. After enjoying Range Rover for little over 2 years, I can say that Land Rover cars are very easy to maintain and best if you can DIY unlike many japanese cars who put the spark plug half km inside the mainfold (Pajero). However here it's a different situation created by garage and workshop that they will always charge a fortune to touch a Range Rover as they think like you that all LR owners are rich brat. I have paid for simple 8 spark plug change a 300 AED for labor only, while asking why it's expensive and garage owner returned with dirty grin: "Sir it's a Range Rover" Range Rover spark plug change - 1 hr - 300 AED Pajero spark plug change - 2-3 hrs - 200 AED Land Cruiser plug change - 1-2 hrs - 100 AED So it's a perception that dictates how much money you will be spending on maintenance and not the actual labor intensiveness. Talk about ardhi app, I have seen it briefly with @Rahimdad and others and it still has some minor glitches to be ironed and you never know it might pick up only due to the reason of sending flares to near by people when stuck, so that they can come and rescue you in offroad - very well thought feature.- 3 replies

You haven't seen them now, as it was post 2000 vehicles and moreover I guess all camel trophy discovery's was diesel engine, kind of misfit here for sand...! It's an awesome initiative from LR to launch classic as a homeage to real classic RR's. I so wish if Mitsubishi can do 100% ground up for my Pajero too, i'll pay them anything and buy 2.

Thanks Jason, looking forward to see you and your family. My wife and son 2 and a half might be joining too.
