  6. Let's aim to cross the "unprecedented" Liwa Crescent from one side to another. To experience the magic of Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter) the largest uninterrupted desert on Earth! The Liwa Crossing through Empty Quarter offers a chance to witness nature in its purest form and in itself is a transcendent experience. However, traveling through the largest desert in the world is not something that should be taken lightly. It will be a 150 - 200 km off-road drive covered within 1.5 days through amazing breathtaking views and the enormous size of dunes on earth. What you will find here: Tallest sand dunes (200 - 300 meters) Steepest incline and drops Longest side sloping Broad ridge riding Faster heartbeat Sweaty hands Mandatory rules for Liwa Crossing (exceptional) drive. Considering its seriousness to keep you and your vehicle safe, these strict rules will be applied to all. For Fewbie level you must have driven at least 5 Fewbie drives with carnity in the last 3 months. If you are newly promoted (1-2 drives), then select one level lower drive than your current off-road rank. If you were away on a long break (more than 2 months), then select one level lower drive than your current off-road rank. It is highly recommended to drive alone, as it's a very serious and demanding drive to stay focused at all times. Maximum of one passenger allowed - No exceptions and trip lead will send you back. Make sure that passenger has no fear of heights, motion sickness and have been to full-day off-road drives before. As once we enter the desert, the only way out is from the other side, without any early exits for 100-150 kms. Everything in your car should be strapped and secured - All vehicles will be checked by the trip lead. Convoy size - strict adherence Fewbie: 10 Cars + 1 Lead + 2 Support = 13 Cars in total Fewbie Plus: 10 Cars + 1 Lead + 2 Support = 13 Cars in total Intermediate: 10 Cars + 1 Lead = 11 Cars in total Drive Preparation: Your car should be in 100% pristine working condition, so double or triple check everything. Full-size spare tire with a lug wrench to match your wheel nut size and its depth. For aftermarket rims - Your lug wrench also needs to match the wheel nut depth. As it's a long full-day drive, so catch up with enough sleep in advance. 5-10 liter of water per person. Snacks for breakfast, lunch, dinner and next day breakfast. Keep your car as light as possible by packing what is truly essential. Fully charged radio with spare battery and all other required off-road gears. Gas tank and required number of jerry cans should be full upon arrival. Last petrol station is ADNOC Khanoor (832): https://goo.gl/maps/FSUzbzURjQRGvFVN9 This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. 7. I rem this off-roading joke started in 2018 when one of the members named Deepak in Xterra, came with 3 friends and started calling them slaves after the drive as those friends helped him a lot for shoveling on weird angle.
  8. You can secure it however you wish, its completely your choice whether to go for temporary or permanent route, but make sure its fully secured.

  15. Ministry of Interior - Wife, Parents, Kids, Pets, anyone who can live without you for two days.
  16. It's still work in progress, will explain how it works, once completed. In short, it is a user (off-roaders and non off-roaders) achievements system to recognize and honor best efforts (online and offline).
  17. 100 Liter of fuel will be needed for 6 Cylinder car 120-140 liter of fuel for 8 Cylinder. You will surely need two jerry cans of 20 L for liwa crossing. Yes, Arada to Hameem You will surely need two jerry cans of 20 L for liwa crossing.
  18. Thank you everyone for the great, quick response for letting us plan the required number of drives. Please note this poll is NOT your RSVP for the drive. All drives will go live as usual on Mon, 7 PM and RSVP will be based on first-cum-first serve as usual. From today till Monday if your house permission isn't signed, the car isn't ready, or any change in plan happens, please inform here so we can remove your poll, to have an accurate number of attendees to forecast the drives. Secondly, this will be a long, tiring, and very demanding drive, so please be ready for such a high level of fatigue and toll on the body with constant focus and high concentration. FEWBIE: Should have 5 Carnity Fewbie drive experience to be safe for such a level of intense and demanding drive. IMPORTANT NOTE: This is not a picnic, camping, bbq, family drive, so we expect a single driver in each car to make it as light and efficient for such tall dunes to avoid continuous refusals and stuck.
  19. It's about time to have another EPIC off-road drive to enjoy the World’s coolest winter in UAE. And what better way to aim to cross the Liwa Desert from one end to another, yes really...! Let's experience the magic of Rub’ al Khali (Empty Quarter) the largest uninterrupted desert on Earth! Thanks to the Department of Culture and Tourism of Abu Dhabi to publish an open route to try Liwa Crossing so we can avoid the restricted areas and exits. It will be a 150 - 200 km off-road drive covered within 1-1.5 days through amazing breathtaking views and monstrous dunes of 200-300 meter height, that you have never seen before. Or only seen on star wars. The Abu Dhabi section of the Rub' al-Khali (Liwa Desert) was used in location shooting for the desert planet Jakku in the 2015 film Star Wars: The Force Awakens. (Wiki extract) The Liwa Crossing through Empty Quarter offers a chance to witness nature in its purest form and in itself is a transcendent experience. However, traveling through the largest desert in the world is not something that should be taken lightly. So we are giving some time ahead for you to plan your two full-day availability of 19 and 20 Feb to experience something that you have never seen before. We plan and hope to finish the majority of the drive on 19 Feb and then pitch a camp to experience the most memorable night under the clear sky in an empty quarter. We plan to hit the tarmac on 20 Feb by 10 AM - 12 PM, so that we all can drive back the same day. Get your house permission signed, stamped and locked. Get your car ready with all photo and video gear. And then hit the poll above at which level of drive you "surely" like to join. Based on the poll result, Liwa Crossing drives will be live on 14 Feb, Mon - Your Best Valentine
  20. Absolutely yes, as far as she is healthy and can stay in the car for an hour of a mild newbie level off-road. Btw, it will be an EPIC drive to have such a senior of 80 years of age and youngest as 6 months old (Varun's kid) in one drive.
  21. While digging more emergency alerts from past, this is how AD use to alert before.
  22. Just to give an alert to everyone while driving during the foggy condition, we tend to reduce the speed based on the visibility. BUT If you are driving in Abu Dhabi and receive a text SMS on mobile saying - Speed limit 80 kmh. It's not a request for you to exercise caution, but radars are re-adjusted at 140 km/h road to issue fines at 80 km/h. We (a few of Quaa drivers, last week) thought it was a caution message and kept driving from 60-100 km/h speed during foggy patches and received a fine of 300 Dhs, with a 35% discount to 195 Dhs each.
