  1. 1) Loosing the car value (depreciation) 2) Unexpected repair or maintenance 3) Falling in hand of fake mechanic 4) Making an accident (yours or other mistake) 5) All of the above 6) Any other option, please explain
  2. From how long you own this to call it a reliable? And which year model comes in 30? Friend of mine cried for 2 summers and then sold at half the price after spending another half of car value in maintenance. AC issue, engine cooling, brittle plastic parts breaking and failing were major concerns.
  3. Thank you If fan is gushing fine, change the radiator if its 10 year old or get its core cleaning and not just the flushing, which is useless.
  4. Well, that depends on what type of driver are you, in terms of making an accident. I haven't made one in last 10 years, so I opted for non-agency repair and I have tried RSA non-agency repair when someone reversed his Renault Duster and made a small hole in my Range bumper. It was a good and professional facility and not shady workshop like 99% of other insurance companies send you to. I think it was Euro Gulf garage or something, part of Europcar rent a car company.
  5. If the radiator is 10 years old, it's better to change. And that must be the case in your failed cleaning attempt. I have core-cleaned my Pajero radiator twice and that resulted in stable heat gauge every time. Dolphin and 400, must be in 1990's dude. I got dolphin triple core for 700 dhs, in 2012, must be a lot more now.
  6. Currently, for the comprehensive insurance, no comparison sites and other insurance company can beat the price, benefits and quality of RSA. I have moved all my 3 cars to RSA beginning this year. I paid 2100 for my Range with Oman and offroad cover. With my 17 years of driving experience in UAE: RSA and AXA are the best and no-fuss insurance provider. Feel free to compare and im sure you will settle with RSA, as they have brought down there pricing tremendously in 2019 to whip all comparison sites in one go. *Copied Syed disclaimer* Disclaimer: Im nowhere related to the companies mentioned above and the feedback was purely based on my personal experience.
  7. Welcome back @Javier M. Even if the thermostat is gone then also viscose clutch fan should engage as that is a purely mechanical and independent device to bring down the boiling coolant after certain degrees. @Frederic temp movement on road is not normal and not acceptable unless you are offroading. Viscose clutch fan can be tested in two ways and most of the time 2nd one fails: When the car is switched off, move the fan blades with hand and see if it rotate freely then it's bad. It should have a good amount of resistance, as with full hand force it should just move a blade or two and not even a full rotation. When the car is overheating, viscose fan clutch should engage and roar loud noise as you are on 2k-3k rpm sounds, that's where clutch fan become free and move with idle RPM and resulting in gushing noise. 8 out of 10 times, when the clutch fan fails this is a first thing it fails on. And this is often time wrongly diagnosed, by suggesting to change 3 million other car parts than the viscose clutch fan. Your paper sticking in fan is only testing the first bit and not the second part which is most important to bring the cooling down.
  8. If you dont hear gushing fan when temp is rising, then its radiator viscose clutch fan has gone. If you hear it gushing then the radiator is choked and need proper cleaning not flushing, with new coolant. For this exact free advise I spent a fortune 10 years back and almost all garages ripped me by saying multiple theories and stories and still car was overheating after 5k spent. And yeah btw temp rising on road is not normal by any means. If its offroad I can understand that.
  9. Have you received a reply from Al Futtaim? Also, get the quote from Dynatrade
  10. Try these trailer guys www.middleriveruae.com
  11. I follow 2 min rule for my Pajero and 30 secs for Range. Newer engineering drops rpm to idle rev faster and hence following that is also a good idea.

  13. No matter what modern engineering says that you can start the car and drive off immediately for better fuel efficiency. PLEASE DON'T DO IT. Give at least 20-30 seconds to let all the fluids reach the critical components for a better life of Engine, Gear, 4x4, AC, Power steering etc. Gone are the days when you start the car and wait for 5 minutes to let it fully warm, but still few seconds delay goes a long way. I always start my car, before I get in so that by the time I sit and fasten the belt and roll down the windows its good enough 20-30 seconds. Also, make sure to start AC after these 20-30 seconds delay and not immediately to put additional load on the cold and dry engine.
  14. As a simple rule of thumb, it's better to put plastic on battery, alternator and ignition if it's exposed out before spraying any water in new/old cars. I don't prefer cleaning engine bay often, as it will become a sand magnet soon after instead, I do it once in 6 months.
  15. Nicely explained @Asif Hussain, and we were always impressed with your way of handling the Truck. We must have trained thousands of offroader till date, but not everyone picks up equally and you have mastered the LWB handling to the ultimate perfection. My thoughts on this are because you have started your offroading in that truck and now anything smaller in size will be a piece of cake for you to command. That's what I and Rahim bhai always say, to start with underpower or difficult 4x4 to master the art of offroading and not another way around that takes you everywhere with a touch of the throttle.
  16. WOW, 2020 Mercedes GLS 580 has some really intelligent use of electronic to replicate the human reaction on sand stuck - bouncing and one wheel up. It was damn impressive, to see that beast bouncing.
  17. Going back to my classic question: How many pickups you have seen in the desert? Maybe 1:10 Friend of mine bought Tundra SWB single cab, I think with supercharged or he added on and sold after 6 months to go back to LC SWB. When he bought it, he was all excited and peppy about Tundra but when he changed, he did it quietly. All the marketing commercials of pickup talking about unleash your freedom, to be more manly and live like a king is a lifestyle touch for people who use these trucks to reach from point A to B in the desert and then camp and have tea, bbq and shisha whole night. Those people have different 4x4 for a different lifestyle needs + 1 wrangler or capsula with LS engine for dune bashing.
  18. Looks like you are bored with your Pathy and thinking of upgrade...? Although I have never used a pickup truck myself, but heard from friends that it is good but due to its long size not ideal for small dunes as its prone to crest a lot. Even the single cab or SWB pickup truck is the same size of LWB full size 4x4. However, it's best for camping lovers, who like to load a ton of stuff or quad bikes and still cross through dunes. @Asif Hussain please share your experience in detail as you had a Ford truck for a long time.
  19. @srini62 Emmanuel has just donated 100 points and you can upgrade to Active Membership now without any frustrations. @Dubasel Welcome to Carnity and it's offroad club, if you are a contributor then you can earn these 100 points in a day or two by posting a new topic, replying to others, liking or appreciating any comments, posting pictures in the gallery etc. After 9 years of consideration and observation - Carnity has taken this bold step to prefer 1 active member against 1000 sleeping members, to keep this one and only "Active" Car Community alive in UAE.
  20. This is a typical case and we all have gone through several hundred and thousands of dhs quote. My suggestion is don't touch anything in your Prado suspension if it's a daily driver, you will highly regret by firming up the ride for 1-day benefit and leaving you with a sore back for 5/6 days commute. Instead, just remove the lower lip of front bumper and/or trim them safely as much as you can and this same Prado can get you through Newbie and Fewbie level drives easy. And even to an intermediate drive, but with caution. If you have really decided to continue offroad for a long time, then spend the same money on the second car so that: You can have the best of both world (firm + soft) You will always have a backup car Your daily driver will stay clean - always Your offroad ride will be packed up ready always Maximum damage (if happen) will be the cost of an offroad car only You will be more comfortable pushing cheaper offroad ride to redline Distributing the load on two cars will extend both car life significantly
  21. Are you planning to convert your Prado for offroad only....? As with offroad suspension, you will seriously regret the daily comfort no matter with all the switches, settings and options any suspension company advertises.
  22. Sure you and your friend can hop in with any one of us, I always have one seat to spare being SWB and I'm sure others will have more seats to share. Come to the meeting point, as the start and exit point is the same.
