  1. This torque solenoid stuck on or off usually means that there is clutch fragments flying around in the gear even if you fix the solenoid problem later on you will face clutch failure... it would be better if you throw in a used gearbox....as to reach that solenoid you have to dismantle the gearbox which racks in a good amount of labour... where as in abc solenoid its usually the valve body which can be accessed by removing the lower case which you can take chances with...
  2. First get it computer diagnosed then post the codes here then only we can help you with further diagnosis I hope this helps...the engine light is there for a reason it has some codes stored thats why its light up
  3. these are going straight to my facebook page.... thanks for those good shots bhai
  4. I couldn't delete it so I edited it now looks good
  5. It was one those nights where I don't get in trouble or give everyone creeps...I was surprised when gaurav Bhai asked me that I am driving and I was like wait let me fix the bee lights then and yet another surprise was when deflating Rahim Bhai and gaurav Bhai said that I will be leading the convoy I was blown away ...thanks Rahim Bhai and gaurav Bhai and special thanks to everyone who were present... Asif Bhai your bash plate needs a exoskeleton and never mind such small mishaps.its all about trial and error if this will get us then we are better off saying hello to sand from the side of the road.no need to be sorry Bhai it can happen to anyone...or do 1 thing learn from me past few to many drives I have broken ravs bones but yet I am back up and ready for the next drive... Sorry to all the non vegys that the chicken was not tasty as intended... And Rahim bhai enjoy your time off but somewhere inside I am thinking who will be rescuing us now
  6. Bhai am still on my words even if there is a difference of 800cc between two cars they still can compete and kill each other...it doesn't make any difference...
  7. After completing the first 1k kms not b4 that Bhai till then keep your feet light on the race paddle....and enjoy the ride...may this car bring you luck and happiness
  8. only the really old ones had them but there was issues turning and other things so they were discontinued and after that they just have been selling dreams... really thanks for the input....
  9. desert dude don't worry i break it and then i make it that's the way it goes... i agree upgrade is must but till then i have to work out with what i have and make best use of the situation...so rav is not going anywhere soon...
  10. @Gaurav bhai have you ever driven this thing in the desert...or even better the forthcoming drive is of fewbie why don't you lead with the rav4 this time...that way you will come to get the groove firsthand then...
  11. @Rahimdad its something in my blood i am a baloch once i think if it can be done then i try my best to do with it even if its the last thing its gonna be doing....
  12. its something the english teacher couldnt but you gave idea about gaurav bhai all cars have its own place it has been hauling me from place A to place B all this time and all those points have been done one time or other during the drives with you gaurav bhai and desert dude i have not gone cucu that i will start from ground up...i have mentioned earlier cheap and portable and effective way to shift power from the free spinning wheel to other wheels...and i am doing my research there and inshallah soon something will pop up....and if you guys have any input in this spectrum i will gladly lend a ear i am not talking about those LSDs even those wont give you 1:1 revolutions on any differentials
  13. ok now i would like to forward some eye opening information here then rahim bhai exactly how many awds have you seen burning on the roads or anywhere bet i have seen more range rovers nissans and the correct count is 6 till now...and burning cars is usually a mistake of people itself or the place where they take their cars for service. its basically a user error.. now coming to the next point can you show me other then military grade vehicles i don't think other use any protection under the vehicles exactly none actually you only need a plate at most at departure angles and approach angles apart from that its just plain weight hauling... alright next coming to our beloved transmission coolers did you know that every production car other than manual gears come with transmission coolers its a must or else the oil grinded between those clutches at peak heat time and high speed would be slipping it just a matter of size some are just air cooled some are water cooled and in some cases its passes through both... now coming to the point of dependable and or proper 4x4 as gaurav bhai likes to put it then i am afraid not even one vehicle in that drive we have has a proper 4x4 the right meaning of proper 4x4 is regardless of any wheel losing traction all wheels must revolve at the same speed that's where the central locks the transfer case and both front and rear differential locks the shaft with the axles so it doesn't matter that any wheel is up it still in most cases should be rolling at most maybe 1 or 2 cars there might have only a rear differential lock but most of the cars we have in the drives are basically 6 cylinder awds..if you really want to test it then i will get the floor jack and lift the vehicle from one side and lets see how many would be able to move while both side one wheels are up in the air. and in the end rav being used for desert safaris rav has only 2 and half seat in the rear and even the front seats are not that cousy and the safary people are selling an experience and illusion of desert dwelling it would be in their best interest if that experience is sold with luxury in mind there will always be something better then what you have but its not wise to be the one who jumps the boat first... now lets talk about experience what you absorb by seeing is never an experience maybe only a part of it might be but never fully accurate i work at the workshop i get my hands on many cars here both on road and off road from a merc wagon to a suzuki jimmy every car is unique and has its own perks as i get them to know from inside out.it would be lovely if we had this discussion with more facts then stories and i am technically inclined and a practical so my understanding is if something is having the same fault again and again then i am not improving and looking at the wrong place to fix..i hope this helps to separate the facts from the opinions and people here get to learn something new as learning is a phase which never ends...
  14. After 60 or 80 it goes from all wheels for front wheel drive and to drive continuously at that speed in desert can be hazardous and the transfer case while transferring force from transmission breaks it into a lower ratio increasing the torque and the best of the best production car offers 73:1 mind you its also manual gear and top of the line in off road and coming to a fj cruiser its 41.82:1 see the difference but I know almost everyone here will agree that fj is one of the best off road thing here in the scene...and pointing that a rav4 is as a corolla is just as saying a fish to climb a tree...so what's the point in if you have a Rubicon and yet don't know the tricks of sand....it basically is always the driver which makes the true difference...
  15. well well well i see some nice sand thorwing here...and i too will go for rebuild as i will surely know whats in it rather then cross my fingers while that initial starting phase waiting to see if this engine also has beaten rods or bearings maybe somtimes even the gaskit is also gone blowing water out of radiator...i have seen some change 6 engines of the same car as the engines the customer was bringing was plain shit go on boy i am making money while you are hauling those engines...
  16. I m thinking something far simpler and portable like some way of locking the free spinning wheel...that way the power will be shifted to other wheels....
  17. Well this time my car is not in...it comes In awd catagory....as only has center dif lock so where ever a wheel is lifted the car is a sitting duck...but its just a matter of time until I develop a mechanism which will lock the wheel then it will surely be a true 4wd with front and rear dif locks....and anyways don't worry just hop on I am sure the guys here will accommodate you as your passenger happily
