  1. https://throttlebias.com/performance-vehicles/5000hp-devel-sixteen/ This has to be the longest running April fools joke I have ever heard. I saw it at the Dubai international motor show last year, or maybe 2 years ago. Does anyone think this will ever go into production or if the crazy figures are even true?
  2. 🤘 Both are pretty awesome
  3. Barracuda! 10 free carnity points to anyone who gets the joke
  4. Here’s one to start the thread. Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) with his McLaren F1
  5. Any classic car, especially if it’s rare. They usually appreciate if they’re looked after.
  6. When I first came to uae my Indian and Pakistani friends used to tell me all about gora privilege but all I see is people trying to charge me extra for stuff 😂
  7. You will never get the value of your car from selling it back to a dealer. Remember the dealer is trying to buy it cheap so they can sell it on again and make a profit. Private sale is always the best option to make more money. This was my first experience with a dealer. I remember when the Focus RS came out. I wanted one so bad so I took one out for a test drive for an hour. The salesman came with me telling me this yadda yadda, horsepower yadda yadda, I asked him if the car had LSD, he didn’t know. The car salesmen generally don’t know anything about what they are selling other than what is on the printed piece of paper handed to him. These aren’t car people like us, they are salesmen trying to make a quick buck. Anyway, I was trying to make a deal with him for my old car. It was an old Mk 5 Escort. He offered me £400 for it and said he would send it to auction and dispose of it for me. I was so offended I just walked out and I didn’t even want to deal with him on the RS. It was just an old Escort but it was a 3 door non sunroof shell, and to anyone in the know, it’s a highly sought after car by motorsport builders, they were produced in low numbers and they just aren’t out there to find randomly. I ended up selling it privately for £6000. In dirhams, I ended up getting 26,000 more than the dealer offered me. I hate dealers. I remember going to look at a new Patrol Safari a few months ago. Dealer wouldn’t even give me a test drive. Expected me just to hand over cash to him. His reason, this is the best 4x4 in UAE, everyone wants one. I don’t know about other people but I’m not going to hand over a massive chunk of cash without driving something first.
  8. If this was something done by the main dealer I would be sending an email direct to Mitsubishi in Japan asking for an explanation. Chances are you will get the problem rectified for free. And trust me, when they disconnected your heater matrix, it had no correlation to your AC cooling. I’m sure Mitsubishi would be very interested to hear about this and know the dealer is doing incompetent work by unqualified employees.
  9. I drive to work in flip flops every day, change to my work boots and change back into flip flops to drive home again. I like to drive barefoot sometimes too. Never had a problem. We have a Shelby Cobra at work that I can’t drive unless I’m barefoot, the pedals are too close and my feet are too big. I guess this is to try to control the retards who can’t drive properly no matter what they wear in their feet.
  10. Disabling/bypassing the heater matrix is bad and any professional mechanic who recommends it should be stripped of his qualifications. The heater matrix is part of the cooling system and is required for proper operation as per manufacturer specifications. This is a fix done by lazy and incompetent mechanics who have no idea how to replace a heater matrix or think it’s a magic cure for engine overheating, which it isn’t If you can explain how disabling the heater matrix improves AC cooling then I am all ears although I bet you have never researched this and are going on the advice of someone else who has also not properly researched how automotive HVAC systems work.
  11. Most of the parts and accessories shops stock amaron. They come with 18 month warranty but I have seen them last for between 2-3 years.
  12. Sleeping at the side of the road can be dangerous too. Another sleepy or stupid idiot driver can hit your car. Ive read so many stories about people here who stopped to pray on the hard shoulder and got killed by stupid drivers. The hard shoulder is a dangerous place to be. If someone hits you it’s not like 10 kph poke in stop start traffic. You’re going to get hit at 120 and get wiped out.
  13. I haven’t seen anyone post the real reason why having too much oil in the engine is bad. If the oil level is too high and the crankshaft touches the surface, it will create bubbles in the oil as it dips in and out. Think of it like whisking an egg white. It doesn’t take long to turn the egg white into a nice thick foamy meringue. Well the same thing will happen to the oil. It doesn’t take long for all the oil to turn to foam and fill the engine. The big problem here is that the oil pump is designed to pump liquid. It’s not designed to pump foam and bubbles so critical engine parts aren’t getting properly lubricated. The bearings, rings etc soon heat up and seize due to oil starvation. Having too much oil can cause same effect as if you ran the engine with no oil in it.
  14. Anyone who consistently falls asleep when driving should be lead outside and be shot with a ball of their own dung. If that doesn’t work they should be taken for the “UAE desert safari” where they are dropped in the middle of the desert and forced to follow the mirage until they die of thirst. I hate shitty drivers like this. I try to drive safe and do what I can to stay alive and get home safe but it only takes one of these assholes to ruin the day of many people.
  15. Wash the dust out of your radiator. Keep the revs up a bit, the compressor will work harder. Check your ac filter too. If it’s dirty you won’t get full air flow. I changed mine last week and it transformed my ac
  16. Why not just buy a nice steering wheel instead? You can buy a nice 3 spoke momo wheel trimmed in alcantara for not much money. For me, steering wheel covers are annoying as heck. You can’t feel the wheel properly and they can slip around at random and you lose control if you’re not squeezing it tight.
  17. I get this every day. I recently repaired the AC on a car that was worth close to 5 million dirhams. Owner took the car to another shop to get some engine modifications done because he didn’t like my price. In the process, they removed the AC compressor and let all the gas out. But it was somehow my fault because I repaired the AC 2 months ago? Sometimes I miss being an oil rat where I just have to fix the problem and fill out some paperwork and not have to deal with the general public.
  18. As far as I know, Mohsen has left that shop now.
  19. Coil springs break easily. Especially on post 2000 cars. They seem to be made from chocolate. Broken springs are usually nothing to do with the shock absorber. Buy a new pair of springs. Inspect the shock absorbers before you spend money on them. Look for leaks around the seals. When the springs are removed, push down on the shock absorber. You should feel a strong resistance and it should pop up on its own. If you feel bubbles or slack spots when you’re pushing or it doesn’t come up on it’s own, it’s banjaxed.
  20. I’m not looking for white lettering. That’s easy, you can buy a special pen and DIY. I’m looking for white walls
  21. Has anyone ever seen a shop in UAE that keeps white wall tyres in stock?
  22. Same difference. They all eat rice 😬
  23. Super glue is the devil. Every time I touch the stuff I get covered in it. Worst time was when I had some in my pocket and it burst and glued my jeans to my leg. Wife asked me to glue something a couple of days ago and I got it all over my hands again. I usually soak my hands in warm water for 5 minutes and you can pick it off easier.
  24. Corvette C8 was revealed yesterday. I’m surprised it wasn’t posted here yet. They have dropped the FR setup and went for a MR setup so maybe we’ll see a car that can handle and compete with the likes of Ferrari and Porsche instead of just going fast in a straight line. Personally I kinda like how it looks. It’s a bastard Ferrari Lamborghini lovechild but there’s still enough Chevy in it for you to tell it’s a Corvette.
  25. Depends on the car and who’s doing it and if they have done it before but if it’s a simple one, it could be done in half a day. I used to be able to change the engine in my race car in under 30 minutes if I used power tools.
