  1. Welcome along Rami! That’s a pretty rare Pajero you have there with the 3.5. Looks like a beauty too!
  2. Yeah. I keep a big pile of coal dust to put inside filters when I remove them 😂 seriously, what you see is what you get. I pulled the filter off and the black petrol started running out so I just thought to make a video and share it with you all to see the kind of stuff that is in petrol. Ok, let’s dispel a myth, using higher octane fuel than your car is rated for won’t do any harm. Using a lower octane rating though can cause knocking aka pinking. High octane fuel is only for turbo/supercharged and high performance engine. Paying extra for 98 won’t wake your car go faster if it’s supposed to run on 95. Stick to what it says inside the petrol flap unless you have upped the compression ratio or charged it. Another myth is that all fuel system cleaners work. They don’t, they’re snake oil and the people selling them are on commission and sales targets. @DiamondDallas can back me up on this. I got a load of free fuel system cleaner so I gave it out to my friends to try. We ran 2 tanks through Diamonds Pajero and it had zero effect. The only real way to clean injectors is to remove them and clean them in an ultrasonic bath, or the old school way of removing them, sticking power to them and opening them and flushing them with solvent. No. The grade of fuel had nothing to do with it. It was the quality of the fuel. All the little bits of dirt and crap accumulated over a period of time. I can’t say when the fuel filter was last changed as this is the first time I serviced that car. It had around 60k on it. For all I know it was the original filter from the factory but it goes to show that fuel isn’t as clean as you think it is.
  3. Send me a message. I’ll stick it on the computer some evening after work and see if I can pull some fault codes for you.
  4. But what if you’re engine is designed to run on something like 5w30 and you try running it on 10w40, even for a short while? You’ll have awesome oil pressure but the oil will be too thick to circulate properly and will wear out the bearings, cam lobes etc in a shorter time. You need to stick to the oil grade recommended for your engine. This is why I cringe every time I hear a “mechanic” saying it’s old, just put 50 in it. In actual reality it’s doing more harm than good even if it is stopping a rattling noise.
  5. The engine flush you buy in the parts shop is made from petroleum distillates with a few additives such as zinc so technically it is more or less just a lighter oil. More specifically, it's mainly paraffin aka kerosene, so if you change your own oil and want to save some money, just use paraffin. Throw in 500ml, let the engine run for 10-15 minutes and drain when still warm. Seafoam is a mix of pale oil, naphthalene and isopropyl alcohol. So in theory you can mix paraffin with a bit of IPA and hey presto, DIY Seafoam.
  6. If an engine has been serviced on schedule and high quality oil has been used it should never need flushed. Remember these guys selling engine flush have sales targets and make commission. Look inside the oil cap. It should be silver or light brown is ok. Black or lumpy bits is bad. If you can see gunk like this in one I done before it's probably too late and you'll need to take the engine apart to clean it.
  7. You’ll find nankang a lot in Europe. The drifters love them. Can’t say much for the off road tyres because I haven’t tried them but the car tyres are a pretty hard compound and they last a long time. The trade off with the hard compound is that they can be a bit treacherous in the wet (don’t ask me how I know but it was expensive!) but that’s not really an issue here in this climate.
  8. If you want a land rover you’ll have to pay for my visa because you’ll need a full time mechanic.
  9. Did a service on a Bentley this morning and removed this. Check out the dirt inside. Generally a service here just means an oil change, maybe blow the dust out of the air filter. Fuel filter usually doesn’t get looked at until the car stops working properly. Dont forget those fuel filters!
  10. The problem with riding in the rough patch is that's where you pick up punctures. Rough stones, thorns etc. Google Slime Tubes. I used them for years at home. When you get a puncture, the slime comes out through the hole and lets you ride home. They're maybe 20-30 grams heavier than a normal tube because of the stuff inside but it saves you from having to carry a toolkit and pump/co2 canisters on a ride. Have you got any lights on your bike? I've noticed that the flashing ones seem to make drivers notice more than the solid ones.

    New music

In the meantime check out black stone cherry new song, an old elvis cover. Not bad, maybe a bit kid rock, The first song I heard of theirs in the early 2000s. I love the cocaine, I love the cocaine! Think modern Aerosmith.

Is there a definitive source for dates of bands playing in Dubai? I know about metal gigs in Dubai page on fakebook but it just shows metalcore and screamo stuff that I'm not into at all. I like to hear the lyrics, not oooooowwwwwwaaaarrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhh that is supposed to be interpreted as I love you I'm so sad you left I want to die please take care of our cat. Its a pain checking all my favorite band pages searching and searching to see if they will come. Id love to see Guns N' Roses in Abu Dhabi in November but the price is eye watering. Totally shocked Metallica aren't touring hardwired here. I hear they had a massive reception last time they played.
  13. The gear helps but sometimes things still go wrong. My cousin back home hit a tree on a MTB a few months ago. Wearing a helmet, pads, the full works. Still ended up with a face full of metal plates and pins. Can't recommend a good pair of sturdy gloves enough. When you go down, the first thing you generally do is put out your hands to try to save yourself and scabby hands make everything difficult, from driving to cooking to washing your bum. Every so often I'll see a municipality truck with the back filled with bikes outside grand city mall. That's the ones where the owners got nabbed for not wearing a lid or yellow vest. Went for a ride across al Quoz earlier to pick up some refreshments. My nerves still aren't right. Too many drivers have no respect for cyclists. They'll either pass you as close as possible nearly hitting their mirrors or blow the horn at you and scare the crap out of you for no reason.
  14. Check out the snorkel for getting out of flooded underground car parks.
  15. Some good ones here. Worth a read. https://mobile.twitter.com/atomicthumbs/status/1032939617404645376
  16. It’s a real defender with an American Ikon bodykit.
  17. I just love cars. Gave up on social media a long time ago. If you need to find a bit of information it’ll be stored on a forum somewhere. When it’s posted on Facebook it’s gone in a few days and impossible to find. Met a lot of good people through carnity. Met a few retards too but the good people outweigh them. The retards tend to stick to Facebook.
  18. Russia’s answer to Tesla http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-45292028 Im loving the retro styling on this
  19. My wife is Filipina! I love immersing myself in the culture and food. My friends come round and they say how do you know how to cook adobo? Big fan of balut with a little bit of salt too 😂 How do you feel about duterte wanting all the Jeepneys to convert to electric? i think it’s a great idea. Polluting a country with diesel fumes is never good. It might cost more now but in the long run it will help the country.
  20. There’s lots of room but bring your own blanket 😂
  21. That’s the first review I’ve done. I’ll do more at some stage. Carnity are running a competition every month where you can win 1,000 dhs for your review so my advice is get involved. If you’re not in you can’t win! G Wagens are much of a muchness but the newer you go, the more toys you will have to play with. They’re a bit agricultural to drive and always reminded me of driving a Land Rover defender with fancy seats and carpet. When you mention the Cayenne, that would be my choice over the G Wagen. I have a Cayenne Turbo in the shop at the minute and it’s a beast. It might not turn heads the same as the G Wagen but it’s 10 times more comfortable and the way it accelerates is insane. Parts prices can be a bit eye watering though. This one needed a small fitting for the air suspension which is probably worth 2-3 dhs but it’s not available separately. Comes as part of a new compressor at over 7000 dhs. Scrapyards know this and wouldn’t sell the part separately so it was 1000 dhs for a second hand compressor just to take a tiny fitting from it. I would avoid the R129 SLs. I am ex Mercedes and I love them, a proper gentleman’s car, but the bork factor and potential for problems is too high unless you get an extremely low mileage one which is very hard to find.
  22. Some fantastic stuff on this https://www.thisiswhyimbroke.com/ Im glad the wife keeps the atm and credit cards or we would be sleeping in a bush beside the bus stop in karama. Somebody needs to buy this
  23. Don’t buy anything from desert cart. The stuff is genuine but they don’t keep stock. It’s a guy in his bedroom dropshipping stuff. I ordered a special oil that wasn’t available in uae and I think it took 3 months to arrive.
