  1. Clicking sound could be cv joint or diff. I would look at the cv joint first. Is the sound coming from the front or back? Center or side? If you drive in a circle with the steering on full lock can you hear a click?
  2. Technically no because I don't have a car yet but as soon as I get finished with my ex employer for screwing me, I will. Started out as a hobby, ended up making a living from it. Now doing other things and seriously considering never going back to it as a full time job.
  3. What’s your thoughts on this then? http://www.carscoops.com/2017/11/aston-martin-furia-burns-hotter-than.html?m=1 I think it looks like a Scirocco with an AM grille. Nothing groundbreaking in design terms.
  4. I guess you’re talking about the inner cv joint which goes into the diff? Smell the oil on it. Gear oil is stinky and you can’t mistake it for anything else. Maybe the oil seal has gone and all the oil has come out of the diff and screwed it. So worth checking how much oil is in it too. If there’s yellowish fluid on the inside of the wheel rim, the first thing to do is make sure it’s not brake fluid. Then look at the rubber boot on the cv joint and see if there are clips on both ends and that the rubber isn’t split. If the grease has come out of the joint, you can try repacking it again and sealing it up. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. It depends on how much driving you’ve done with no grease in it. Probably best if you just take it to a proper mechanic who should be able to diagnose it in 15-20 minutes.
  5. I'm not an expert on these but I did look into them a while ago. I always wanted a challenger and if the wife pushed out a baby, charger was the second option because of the extra doors. The main difference between the RT and the SRT is 100 BHP and 75 ft lb of torque. RT has 375 ish BHP. You need to ask yourself, is that enough? Personally for me, it's plenty. There are limited opportunities to use it in UAE unless you're doing track days. Speed cameras every few hundred meters kind of defeat the purpose of fast cars. There are no major reliability issues but build quality isn't the best. Lots of hard plastics and things screwed together by minimum wage workers in America who just want to finish their day and go for a beer. I can't answer your questions about price. The market here is totally fake, prices are dictated by whatever the dealers feel like putting on their fake ads on dubzzle. Another thing I'd like to add, just personal opinion though, I wouldn't get sucked into the whole GCC specs thing. Sure they were built and designed in USA but Texas in USA is just as hot as UAE so obviously they were designed to work in a similar climate. I know a lot of people will argue with me on this point and say GCC has bigger radiators and compressors etc but then done American cars designed to work near the equator have lesser parts? Surely the Americans will look after there own people rather than a handful of arabs? Be aware though, because of the mentality of people here, the resale of US spec cars is less than GCC cars. Also if you're buying a US car, check it on carfax website. You will get full proper history, unlike here.
  6. I was speaking to a good friend of mine back home in Ireland. She runs her own successful forum and is a writer for drivetribe. If you don’t know what drivetribe is, it’s the forum run by the former top gear presenters. I asked her to sign up and say hello. The first thing she asked me is heck, is this forum all men? So all the ladies of Carnity, please shout out!
  7. Take a drive around saaja scrap market. There’s a few people breaking Peugeot there https://goo.gl/maps/1BHTMxpJB9P2
  8. What’s wrong with your own light? I know they’re susceptible to corrosion. Sometimes a tin of meclec, a toothbrush and a bit of fine sandpaper can work wonders.
  9. I think the fender bender thing is relevant here in Dubai, more so than anywhere else. Other countries have proper crashes but here it’s mostly slow speed bumper to bumper stuff. You only have to take a walk up your street and you’ll see something with a broken headlight or the bumper hanging off. Not saying the big accidents don’t happen, but they’re less frequent.
  10. Interesting video from VW here showing how much better their body panels are than pattern parts. Although part of me wonders if they used Chinese parts rather than quality aftermarket.
  11. Anyone with a laser alignment machine should be able to do it. You just need to make sure it’s a 3D machine which is capable of setting toe, camber and castor. Castor isn’t adjustable on the Pajero but the machine should be capable of reading it so you know if something has been bent.
  12. What is set to be the worlds fastest ‘car’ has completed its first test runs.
  13. Swap the front and rear wheels (assuming they’re not staggered) and see if the vibration moves to the front. If it does, it’s a wheel, tyre or balancing issue. If not, you need to dig deeper.
  14. Mitsubishi recommend 10k or 1 year, whichever comes first. I'm surprised the dealer can get away with cutting the interval in half without Mitsubishi stepping in.

  17. http://m.gulfnews.com/news/uae/transport/uae-man-gets-dh1-million-in-radar-fines-1.2108030 Some of the fines here a laughably small. I guess sometimes the only answer is to empty their bank account.
  18. Recommend pressure should be on a sticker inside the door or on the back of the petrol flap. Higher pressure will give better fuel mileage. Pump it up to around 60psi and you can do burnouts easy 😬

I've worked on continental before. They're basically a reshelled VW Phaeton, same W12 engine. Very simple engine to work on once you know your way around it. It's more or less 2 VW VR6 engines stuck together with twin ECUs, one for each side. Many parts are interchangeable with VW so parts are available and not as expensive as you would think. Things to look out for, Electrics. This car has a LOT of electrics. Test every knob and switch, windows, roof, everything. Coil packs. There was a bad batch of VW coil packs out for a while. Most should have been replaced by now but it's worth checking. Bad coil packs will cause stuttering under load so try some heavy acceleration and make sure it pulls well through all the gears. Keyless entry system can give problems so make sure the car locks and unlocks automatically. If it doesn't work it's either a faulty antenna (cheap) or needs new transistors soldered into the control board (very cheap). Listen for knocking sounds from the front end. Drop links can wear out fast but they aren't expensive or difficult to replace. There is a vacuum hose at the back of the engine that breaks. With the engine running, gently pull on the vacuum pipes at the back of the engine and listen for hissing sounds. If this pipe is broken, the engine has to come out to repair it. All in all, they are a nice, luxurious, comfortable touring car. Just make sure you get a good one and get a good mechanic who knows about them.
  20. Here’s one for the Christians among us, Ministry - Jesus built my hotrod. This song is the very definition of the industrial genre
  21. What bands or songs can you think of that relate to cars? I was listening to a band earlier called the Daihatsu Hijets. I had a daihatsu hijet for a while. It was a heap of scrap. I sold my Kawasaki GPZ to a guy who thought he would be a smartass and try to scam me on the magnesium wheels. I talked him into buying the Hijet as well and scammed him back and got the full value. If I had to put the daihatsu hijets in a genre I'd say they are stoner rock. Couldn't find them on YouTube but here are a few other songs to start the thread, Fear Factory - Cars (originally a Gary Numan song, but I prefer fear factory) Status Quo - Don't drive my car. I'm going to see this band in Dubai opera in 2 weeks and I can't wait. Metallica - Fuel. Probably the best post NWOBHM band ever. Exodus - Lowrider. Again a cover, originally by War but the metal loving teenager inside me likes Exodus. Iggy Pop - The passenger. Listen to the chords, it's the exact same song as save tonight by eagle eye cherry. It freaked me out when I started learning guitar. Canned Heat - On the road again. Reminds me of smoking something at home, this is uae so censorship so I can't say but you know 😂
  22. Well you have the 3.0 i6, the 3.0 i6 turbo, the 4.0 and the 4.3 V8 so if you want something efficient and cheap to run, this isn't the car for you. If you want comfort, luxury and build quality, by all means, go for it.
  23. I'm not really bothered if I get likes or not. In fact, I've dropped half a star lol. I give advice where I can, if someone learns something or they can save a few dirhams, I know the karma will come back to me at some point. When the 1 like = 1 dirham was in place I would have been more concerned. To be honest, that was one of the biggest motivating factors when I signed up initially. I wasn't working at the time and the extra money for beer was handy. Now it's gone so meh, I just stay because I rarely get the chance to chat with like minded people in the real world. Even when I was working in a garage, the mechanics never really seemed to have any interest in cars other than fixing them so Carnity was a breath of fresh air.
