  1. Happy 6th birthday Carnity. I must say that for a 6 year old you are very mature and carry a lot of useful information. May you grow to be a hundred and may my grand children be able to take advantage from all the information you part.
  2. Wow, I didn't know so much. That is very detailed. Respect to you Sir Barry.
  3. So nostalgic. I heard the Delorean had its own set of problems, but it was an icon never the less. i love the looks of the concept vehicle posted.
  4. Hi everyone, With some heavy rainfall in Ras Al Khaimah, Fujeirah and some drizzle in Dhaid and a forecast of rains today and tomorrow it seems this Friday is going to be an amazing opportunity to have a Wadi drive. Any experienced individuals within Carnity is most welcome to post a wadi drive this Friday or at least post your interest here and I will try to arrange one this coming Friday, 7 October. Departure as per my preference should be some time late morning like 11 am, so that the Muslims can pray on the way at one of the mosque and than we can continue to the Wadi Drive, If we reach the wadi by 2 pm we can be off by 6 pm before the sun goes down. We can bring some snacks, drinks and even BBQ would be a good choice. Waiting anxiously to see who all is interested.
  5. If I am not mistaken there is a fuse bx under the rear seat for Trail Blazers, it causes inconsistency when it is either loose, or if I am not mistaken fuse number 4 or 40 is bust. Maybe you can check on those and see if it is loose connection or a bust up fuse.
  6. You know whats most important when you have a drive early in the morning at 5 am when the sun is just about to come out? ....... The fact that all individuals have taken the pain to get up that early in the morning r have not slept at all to make it to the meeting point on time. Thank you everyone who made it on time and displayed the kind of enthusiasm and vigor to enable us to have the best drive 2 weeks in a row. We headed to the farms in Tawi Nizwa where we deflated and were ready to go. With myself in the lead and a very capable Ratish in his JK, Manoj in his Land Cruiser and newbies Malav with Nikhil in his Land Cruiser and another new Land Cruiser (I am sorry i forgot the same). Getting old I guess. In the sweep was my trusted friend Abdullah and on Fly Sweep we had Michael in his Discovery 2. We had a fast run to the base of Pink Rocks where we played for a while trying to see who could manage to take his ride furthest up, the winner was Michael in Abdullah's Patrol, but everyone with a smile, cheer and echoes of clapping as Michael decended as champ was in a good way deafening. We tha crossed over the Pink Rocks to the other side. At one time I thought that the top of Pink Rocks was closed with cones on top, however later I realized they were a bunch of early morning bikers. One more proof that I am growing older as a matter of loosing my eyesight somewhat. As we continued from Pink Rocks to Big Red everyone was managing well until Michael came up with a plan. It might have initially seemed that Michael's plan was to get all the newbies stuck on every dune we crossed, truthfully speaking its a good experience for the newbies as they learned early on how to self recover in case of a stuck. We had a few refusals, but just one stuck which needed to be pulled out. We managed to self recover for all other refusals and it dawned on us as we crossed the most troublesome dune. We were on top of Big Red. What an accomplishment for the newbies to have peaked at all the highest spots in the area. As we inflated and headed back all I could see were smiles which told me everyone had enjoyed and are raring to go at every opportunity they have. many thanks to Manoj for a hot cup of tea which really jolted me from my slumber. With the kind of response that i have from Carnity, i am encouraged to post more drives, and rest assured I will try me level best to bring some signature drives in the coming months. So keep tuned to the latest drive in the wilderness and their trip reports. Can I please request Nikhil and every one on the trip who has some nice pics to post them here please, as with the pics you can truly relive the moments spent so well on every trip.
  7. On my Jeep Commander on the head light switch there was a knob which controlled the dashboard lights, if you turned it all the way to the brightest all the cabin lights would come on, turn it one click back and the cabin lights would be switched off, that was until you open a door, walla. I believe that is what you are looking for.
  8. Really nice find and this tells me that a car is left with a little over 2 gallons, As per my observation with most of the cars I have owned I would believe that there was little over a gallon as I could drive upto 50 Kms after the petrol light came on. However recently I just don't take a chance and fill in sometimes even before the light comes on, but recently I have to go to Baniyas Island in Abu Dhabi and with more than quarter tank remaining I passed a petrol station thinking I will get it filled in on the next pump. The next pump was not visible as my petrol light came on and I tried to drive at a constant speed lower than the road limit just to conserve fuel as I had no clue when I would get to see a petrol station again. Over 300 Kms to drive, petrol light on and not a petrol station in sight, to add to it the road was all dug up and a huge project going on. 10 Kms done after the petrol light had come on, 20 Km, 30 Kms, 40 Kms, 50 Kms and now my wife was like looking at me and cursing me for not filling up earlier. 60 Kms since the petrol light had come on and now I was getting worried as the car felt like it was going to cough up at any time, further more the challenge was to reach on time for the boat to depart in just under 2 hours with another 240 + Kms to go. Finally, it was in sight, a board that said the next petrol station was available in 2 Kms, but I could not see anything as far as my eyes could go, and due to the roads being all dug up a doubt started to set if the petrol station would still be there. Relief at last as the petrol station shone through just as the sun was setting. After filling the tank to the brim, i wiped my sweat and looked at my wife and exclaimed, It was all part of the plan, I know what I am doing, you should trust me more. I am sure my wife knew how I was thanking God deep inside for managing to survive and getting the petrol station when all hopes had diminished, but with a smile she just commented, can we move now, we need to reach there in less than 2 hours and I know its still a long way to go. How I wish I had this information earlier, but i am sure in the situation we were in, we would be sweating it out all the same.
  9. Respect your opinion Allstar, just my personal experience that the last couple of hours of Gitex I have managed to get awesome deals as they don't want to take products back and want to rid of them.
  10. Most welcome to UAE and the best Car Community in the entire Middle East. This is your forum and I am sure you will get the best of advise as and when required.
  11. Thank you for your actions in correcting the errors on our most beloved site.
  12. As per my experience i like to go in the last 2 hours at the end of Gitexx and try to get the stuff they would not like to carry back at a cheaper price than they promote during other days.
  13. If I am not mistaken the Gitex Shopper is from 1st - 8th October.
  14. All the best for your hunt Brandan. Will be looking forward to your verdict. BTW with Gitex starting on Saturday I am wondering if you will be able to get some good deal on your purchase.
  15. Guys, please make important note the meeting point has been revised. We will still be meeting at 4: 45 am but at the Tawi Nizwa Shops instead of the Bidayer Shops. On the way from Dubai to Hatta, after you drive for about 7 Kms you will see an old Emirates Petrol Station on your left hand side, on the right hand side you will see the Tawi Nizwa Shops. https://goo.gl/maps/omXw7BWvXSG2
  16. OMG, you need to really keep your eyes open at all times.
  17. I see your point of view and respect it Danny, but I guess the Samsung Note 7 exploding got me all jumpy. hahahahaha BTW, where is Brandan?
  18. Cool. i had problems for 2 days, since yesterday though it has been nice and quick. Thank you.

  20. Thank you, whatever was done, the website is quick and responsive today.
  21. If Austin Powers is here than we will need Shaguar also. Hehehehehe.
  22. Thanks Ma7amad for sharing. Dash cams were used by police in USA long time back and today there are plenty of reality cop shows using those videos. Technology has advanced and we should take advantage, its just the way you use it and the only threat comes from people who misuse technology for personal benefit and gain without caring about others.
  23. Sorry to differ Danny. Sometimes big names in the industry are the ones using gimicks and ads to sell their products. If you consider good quality than the size of the lens, the type of pixels used, the number of pixels, stbilizer everything counts into making the camera a quality camera. if you are able to stray away from the run of the mill products and try a product which is not that well known, but has all the nocs and cranies and can record 4 hours instead of the misly 30 minutes, than its worth looking into. You cannot name a brand and say they are good and the rest are all crap. We make suggestions here and its up to you to research it further, maybe see where it is available, get a demo and than decide which one is better.
