This drive is organized in full compliance with the COVID19 guidelines. We expect every member that joins this drive to respect and follow these guidelines strictly in order to not jeopardize someone's health and to ensure we can keep organizing these drives safely. MUST READ: Not following these rules and precautions = Not allowed to drive. No Gathering | No Briefing | No BBQ | No Eating Together | No Touching | No Hugging We are only allowed to drive through the desert, as we are driving on the road now. So we will only do the desert driving just by sitting inside our cars at all the times and leave the drive without socializing or coming close to each other. Just like before we like to continue our desert drives through out the year, but this time we need your immense support to understand the strict control and to help everyone follow them all the time. How to maintain "STRICT" Social Distancing Meeting point will be set slightly (100m - 200m) inside the desert track. You individually deflate your tires on the tarmac before reaching the meeting point. While deflating tires, stop cars 10 meters away from any other car. Drive signup on calendar will be closed on Thursday morning by 9 AM. Convoy numbering and briefing will be posted here on this drive post before 6 PM on Thursday. All participants need to read & acknowledge the briefing by clicking "Totally Agree" reaction. Switch on your radio when you reach the meeting point on the set frequency advised by the trip lead in the critical briefing here. Once everyone reaches to the meeting point, everyone stay inside the car at all the times. Trip lead will do the roll call, convoy numbering recap, critical briefing over the radio. Any suggestions or issues will be discussed over the radio too. You can also speak to other members through the radio only. So please make sure that your radio battery is fully charged. Once all set, trip lead will start the drive as before. Refusal and Recoveries with Social Distancing Every drive will have 1 lead Marshal and 1 or 2 supporting senior members/crew. Whenever there is a stuck or refusal, only a Marshal / Senior Member / Crew is allowed to handle the situation. Everyone else including the stuck car driver, stay inside the car - AT ALL TIMES. Marshal / Senior Member / Crew is only allowed to step out to access the situation and do the recoveries: They will wear mask and gloves at all times when they are outside their car. They will try to help self recover through the radio guidance. If not they will use required recovery gear and do the needful (shovel, tug or winch, as required). If at any time Marshal require help, then only you are allowed to step out by wearing face mask and gloves at all times. Drive completion and inflation There will not be any gathering or sitting down together for food-break like before. Once drive is finished, after reaching the tarmac, everyone is requested to move away 10-20 meters before starting their inflation. For drivers having no compressor, can head to the near by fuel station. If drive is ending at a place where there is no fuel station near by, then trip lead will inform in advance so that drivers having their own compressor can join only. Strictly no sharing of compressors, radio, shovel or any recovery gear, at any times. Mandatory things you require to attend the drive Face mask - at least TWO face mask is needed in case one get damage or fly away. Disposable rubber gloves - at least two sets are needed. Wear face mask and gloves at all the times, when you are out of your car. Carry plenty of hand sanitizer and object sanitizer (spray). Use your sanitizers generously, whenever you step out to help or recover. Sanitize your hands before getting back into your car. Sanitize your recovery gears, if you have used them. Fully charged and programmed radio - without any excuse - No radio = No drive. Shovel - Must for every car, to do little self recovery Safety flag - Must for every car, like before Compressor - If joining the drives that is ending far from the fuel station. Mandatory precaution that you need to take at all times Do not step out of your car UNLESS/OTHERWISE advised by Marshal / Senior Member / Crew. No shaking hands, hugs or touching each other. No sharing of food, drinks or recovery tools. If you are not feeling well, please stay at home and take a lot of rest. If you have travel in last 14 days, then please do not attend this drive. If you feel unwell during the drive, please let trip lead know so he can plan an early exit. Not more than 3 pax in a car and if all 3 aren't living together, then they should wear the mask inside the car too. Two Way Radio Guidelines Every Offroader brings his own radio, programmed to the frequencies described in below advice topic. We will not share spare radios or program your radio on the drive. If you need assistance in programming the radio, post a topic on the Carnity website with your questions and we will help you out. Make sure your radio is fully charged. It will be your only way of communication while driving. Before buying, please carefully read below advice so you are informed properly on which model / cost / shops... No radio = No drive. It is an essential tool and you should make sure you bring it on every drive and learn/practice how to use it. I know a shop opposite Suzuki Service centre behind Sharjah City Centre. But used them long ago. Not sure if it still exists and forgot their name. With garages you can't trust any, you need to be very firm and stand on their head if you have to. Like @Gaurav bhai says explain your issue, make sure they understand, give you the solution and price. Here comes the best part, get it in writing from them how long this fix going to last. Anyone bullshiting you will never give it in writing.

@Rizwanm2 that is why we recommend that 4L is for recoveries only or in some cases for steep long decline. You are not supposed to drive in 4L. I don't think Cruise Control would be effected by loss of power as that is something to do with vacuum if I'm not mistaken. Seems like you mechanic is just trying to play some roulette with you. Have you consulted with another garage to pin point the problem and solution. Just changing parts randomly is not going to help your situation.

Not so soon @Denizzalbayrak. You need to be hands on to learn the trick. Surely with time you will be given opportunity to fix pop-out. Really love your enthusiasm though.

@sertac for your first link the filter on the right, the grey one shows as a dry filter. Screenshot given below. The K&N on the other hand in the description reads oiled cotton media, but does mention its washable. Im not sure but @Gaurav bhai has used K&N and would be able to advise you better. In terms of technical knowledge I also highly regard @Barry, @treks, @Javier M and loads more people here to give you great advise. Please also remember to clean your throttle body with carburetor cleaner as spoken earlier.

Trip Report. For me waking up in the morning is one of the most difficult things on a work in day. Thankfully my wife's complaint is on weekends I'm up and ready to go before the sun comes out. So rolled out as soon as the clock strike 6am, started my car, filled in gas and after a cup of tea and a quick sandwich I was well on my way to the deflation point. Upon reaching the meeting point I was glad to see all cars already deflated and ready to go, but there was another bunch of offroader getting ready for their own adventures. It seems more people are getting comfortable coming out to the desert again, but I really appreciate the fact that our convoy follow all the Covid19 precautions as instructed. After a quick deflation and putting my flag up, it was time for a quick brief. By this time @Brette was well positioned to arrange the convoy as per my list confirmed last night. Everyone was quick to respond and we were on our way to find what the day had in store for us. I was surprised by the slight but welcome coolness in the air and a more than gentle breeze to keep us comfortable with Windows down. As per our format we started of with some easy dunes just to get warmed up and increased to difficulty level gradually. After some awesome dunes and a convoy which could not be stopped by anything we reached our first play area. With me being the first to attempt I found it a bit bumpy but not with any risks as long as our teachings were put to good practice. No surprises there as everyone followed instructions and gave us a great glimpse of what a sand shower should look like. On second thought I was surprised by the extreme cool headed and cautious yet brave approach used by @syed salman raza to do this sideys on only his second drive. This goes to prove that some people take time to learn while some are quick to catch on. We moved from there and quickly found ourselves on through some treacherous dunes and on to the power lines track. As we were heading towards Fossil Rocks we met the other group just moving and said hi to @frederic who took a breather to greet us and inform us they were headed to Faya. With our convoy doing so well I told him we would meet up at Faya if we managed to cross Fossil Rock in good time. As we set off to the top of Faya we all reached on top in great time. @Brette again stepped up to take responsibility to send everyone down as per my instructions. As I made it down and announced the arrival of each member, he had them ready waiting up for the car ahead to clear. In no time and safely we found ourselves down and as agreed by all headed towards Faya. We started off well and it was just a matter of time before we reach Faya and play to our hearts content. But we had our first refusal. Bravely after a little time consuming recovery we started again towards Faya, but had a second refusal. At this point knowing full well that the Sun had decided to make it hot and difficult with the sand becoming softer and more difficult to manage we headed down to the track and decided to head out, leaving Faya for another day. As we were heading out the distance in the convoy meant we had a disconnect somewhere. However with somewhat easy tracks the rest of the convoy managed to find us and reunite as we headed out again. Upon reaching tarmac, we continued slowly towards some trees with shade so that we could inflate with social distancing and in the shade of the trees. All in all a great drive with @Incognitoes managing the second lead like a pro. She followed all my instructions well and on 2 occasions when I found myself in some trouble she was ready to stop and use alternate path as instructed to save the convoy from any danger. @marks followed in third position and managed well, with a few interesting conversations when we had the chance. @Yousef Alimadadi improving quite a bit from the last time I saw him drive, he is doing very well and will soon be knocking on our doors for a promotion. @syed salman raza with his mighty Jeep didn't seem like he has never been off-road before, but a short conversation with him revealed he was only following the lead and making sure to replicate what he saw. That is great observation and a great start for him in this sport. @Jun Zamora seemed more familiar with his Jeep and seemed to do much better as compared to his last drive with me. However there is still the radio issue that persists as I kept hearing a bell as he spoke and that radio needs to be tuned correctly or he might need a new set. @luwaimn has come a long way from the timid guy who wanted to get through without hurting his Prado to a more confident person finding a way to get through most situations without a scratch. However to grow to the next level he does need to take a few leaps of faith, I'm sure he will find his feet at some point. @Brette was amazing and hard working in that centre forward position to keep the convoy moving at all time and I think everybody realized that and is very appreciative of all his efforts. It was great to hear the voice of@andy_macdxb from time to time as I saw him improve over his last drive. He seemed to be more confident and ready for most situations with some chatter which put life to the convoy. The enthusiasm of @Mehmet Volga was evident as he enjoyed learning and putting the skills he has obtained to good use. @Gregory Perkin although quiet but his presence was felt by the confidence with which he took on all the challenges. @AKR was a sight for sore eyes after a long break, but it was great to see him not having lost his touch, just his car looks much tougher than before, and his skill set makes his car look awesome doing things I've never seen it do before. @George Francis decided to leave his Jeep behind and give a chance to his other ride, which meant he was learning again the difference between his 2 vehicles. Last but the most important part of the convoy was none other than @Colin Jordan who brought along his mosterous Ram Hemi to keep the convoy together and moving at all times. He quietly managed the whole convoy and kept me updated about every movement to keep me at peace and moving from one challenge to another. Everyone please give yourselves a hand and pat your backs for an extremely great day out. Whenever you need help to deflate, announce on the radio and a senior or marshal will come to assist. Make sure you have a deflator, flag, and your radio. Depending on how time and heat permits we will be ending nearby the gas station or at Faya, so a compressor is an added advantage.
