@desertdude I know I got all the dirt that I wanted from you last night, but wanted you to share the write-up from Robison as you have tonnes of great knowledge. As I am in the mood for looking out for a one of deal which I can turn around in a year to enjoy some luxury without loosing too much. I have no intention of taking them off-road. I really loved their article about the drive chain and how it effects the cams and stuff. I want this to be reference for anyone who ever wonders on my path.

@syed salman raza since there is no hotel close to the meeting point, you can go for any hotel in Sharjah or better close to Ghusais in Dubai , it would take you just over 30 - 25 minutes to reach the meeting point. If you click on the link to google maps on your PC, click on nearby and than from the pop-up select hotels, it will give you a few options. As you scroll through the hotel list on the left, it will give you the travel time on top of the maps on the right of the screen.

Thanks @sertac, but most of the cars you have suggested are huge bulky cars. The LR4 suggested is an Import and we are not comfortable with that. Also I do not like the Ford reputation any more. @Frederic you have given me a good option, i was told by one of the German Car dealer not to go for Audi Q7 but Q5 is OK, seems to be driven a bit too much and asking price seems high for that much mileage. Anybody can give me reliability issues for Q5, I have seen some low mileage and newer ones at attractive prices and I think with the size my wife could well be interested in these. Still waiting for @desertdude with his unique knowledge to learn more about his beloved brands and beyond.

I am really bad when it comes to luxury segment for SUVs, with very limited knowledge. My wife has started to look out for a luxury SUV which is below AED 30K and well driven. What will be the problems with this particular year model, so what should I look out for and what would be a good price? https://tnydu.biz/DOydye Seen this one also over the weekend, lots of dings and dangs, sunroof is huge but the roof liner is falling, this is with the M badge and has the twin turbo, the driver door makes a funny noise when you close the door as it seems they have the soft close technology which is not working so makes a very strange tuk tuk tuk sound when you close the door. Also since the rear was in a small bump, the trunk has to be pulled a bit hard to work and otherwise opens and closes as expected, however I doubt if it works by remote. This is driven 160k kms and last service was done October last year with AGMC at 150k kms and needs service in about 800 kms. The electric hand brake switch comes off if not careful, not a deal breaker though. Love the drive and the car, but not quite sure if AED 27k is a good price to pay. I know of a few BMW specialist shops in Sharjah, however want to know what I should look out for in this model BMW and what will be a good price to pay. Also I would appreciate any suggestions in this segment and price range and which model have proven to be solid in terms of reliability and what are the things I should look out for in these suggestions. All your views are more than welcome and appreciate your feedback in advance.

@Wrangeld good observation. @Rizwanm2 great question. We do not throw things out of the window in Carnity if we do not know about it. We have given maxtrax a try bought from ACE hardware. To our surprise it did not work at all, it would just slide inside the sand and the bogged down vehicle did not budge an inch. From the video he has shown us getting half stuck in beach send which is wet and gels together, he has deliberately got himself stuck, dug some space for movement and placed the maxtrax and got himself out. In the soft sands of UAE these just do not work from experience. I can bet with his situation, still with inflated tires if you dig a little and create a track you could come out of the situation by creating a hardened track like he did at the end by driving front and back a few times.

Jeep warranty has helped me a lot with my first Jeep Commander, even off-road. A proper insurance and warranty gives you a peace of mind. With Jeep they are the only dealership which allows you to make mods to your car, and maintain the warranty as long as you pay a little extra to make the mods through them. They even keep a record of it on their files so that you do not have the hassle of maintaining records for your mods. So like a lift kit they use to replace your suspension, they would void the warranty of Jeep for your suspension and replace it with the warranty offered by the company from which the lift kit is installed. If anything god forbid goes wrong they would get in touch with the company for replacements.

@sertac buddy you have missed out on a lot. True @Gaurav bhai always sets the pace, but I have seen @Emmanuel, @Srikumar, @Javier M and countless other V6 with proper 3.5 litre engine and above making it to top of Big Red, Faya and Iftar Bowl from the front face. Even @Frederic magic little blue buddy with a manual 3.0 is far capable. I have evenb seen a 4 cylinder 2.4 litre engine make it to the top of Iftar Bowl, I will not mention any names here. Although V8 definitely carries a grunt which cannot be replicated by a V6. But starting with a weaker vehicle does allow you to learn the techniques better. I have even owned a Discovery 1 V8 3.9 litre engine, but the 190 Hp is just not enough to keep it going to the top of any reputable dune. However if you know how to use the torque on that it is like a magic carpet ride, however climbing tall dunes is not its forte.

@Brette I highly regard your opinion on the new JGC and am sure that you will not require the V8 power all the time as the 3.6 Pentastar seems to be the king right now. But I disagree that you need power to off-road in the rocks as there torque, grip, suspension travel and a proper roll cage is the need, You would not step hard on an accelerator in in the rocks, you would sue the torque of the vehicle to take it one step at a time. However in my experience the sand requires both torque and power, as @sertac nicely put it, on long climbs you need power after a certain level to keep going all the way to the top. I remember with my Hemi I used to make it to the top of Faya from the front face with the accelerator in 70%, now with my V6 I can be standing on the accelerator and my car will just manage 70% of Faya. Lack of power has allowed me to experiment and still rech the top from my cheat routes, however if I have that V8 power I would feel a sense of achievement to get on top from the front face. That said, I will leave it to the person in question to decide if he wants to show-off every time or find cheat routes like me, in the end we are always on top, to me it does not matter how you reach there.

@Shadab Khan I have no problem is sharing as that is what @Carnity is all about, sharing real life experiences. The second time I bought a Jeep Commander it was not under warranty and I was lied to that it was a GCC spec. Turned out to be a n American Spec and after only 3 days of driving the Check Engine light came on due to a common problem with the Catback exhaust for American spec which is very expensive to change. Within a year the gear had started to give issues and with all the expenses I had to sell it loosing a big amount as I cannot lie to sell my car. The person who bought the car from me bought it really cheap as I had already pointed out all the problem to him. I still had no issue with the 5.7 Hemi engine, as per my research the hemi has been there for over a century and developed and tuned over time as they used to race with these engines and use the data to maximize the enginbe potential in a safe way. Since the warranty for the vehicle is expiring, I would recommend to check with Trading Enterprise if they can extend the warranty for 2 years more, total of upto 7 years in warranty is permissible for GCC models. It is not that cheap to maintain and you will really appreciate the tonnes of money you can save by extending the Agency Warranty as I did on my first Jeep Commander.

I too owned a 5.7 Hemi on a Jeep Commander, but that was some time back, never had any issues the first time around, so when pocket permitted I bought one again. Buying for a second time turned out to e a mistake. But as long as serious off-roading and JGC goes, i would recommend for you to have a word with @Brette who has mastered the stallion and uses it to the best both off-road and on-road. Being old fashioned I would prefer to drive something old and cheap in the desert without all the electronic gadgets. A @Gaurav bhai once owned a Range Rover with air suspensions and after spending a few hard earned dirhams changed it to coil overs and did not feel the ride comfort change by much. Some things are only perceptions and some technology available becomes useless as you said the UAE roads are not marked as per Volvo likings. Don't fall to much into technology, specially not for off-roading.

@Jeepie congratulations. Age is just a number, and that is the feeling I get when i see you. Even though you have turned 20 years old, but your enthusiasm is like a 16 year old. I can clearly see the bond between @Wrangeld and you, the 2 of you are inseparable in all walks of life. Even when it comes to off-road adventures both of you are hand and hand and grow together step by step never leaving the other behind. This is also the basis on which our club was formed, never to leave anybody behind. I am so glad that both of you are part of our club, and I have no doubt that you will break to records in Carnity, First lady Marshal and First couple to to crowned as Carnity Marshals. So proud that both of you are part of our community and understand us so well. Watching your lead for the first time was like seeing myself trying out everything as soon as we entered the desert, but everything happens for the best and we ended up using fresh tracks in a terrain we have not explored before. This might also explain the sighting of the Dhub (Desert Lizard) after 2 years, as they would have shifted away from all the action. Well done @Jeepie and such a pleasure watching you grow in this sport with us.

@Wrangeld it is very easy to see you one with the TJ and @Jeepie. We might have helped you grow in a sport, but the 2 of you together have opened our eyes to what love is. Enjoying, sharing, learning and growing together. From the first time I saw you, you have never been jealous, just eager to learn and grow. It has never been about what you can do as an individual but walk hand in hand with the one you love and grow in the sport together. You fit perfectly in our club as this is what we believe in also, driving and enjoying together as a community, learning and growing together as a community who loves each other and never leave anyone behind. You bring a sense of calm to the community but at the same time ask questions to better it. Watching you lead on that second half and the way you have managed the whole convoy understanding their level and pushing them through the terrain to watch them learn and grow under your wing from the very first lead opportunity you had was priceless. Congratulations @Brette. I have always loved sitting and having a chat with you over a cup of karak chai. I have always appreciated the patience you have shown and always a big fan of your questions that made the cup of tea really worth it. You have asked, got answers, did your home work and weighed your ideas. You could have gone the route we suggested which would have been easier, but you have done your study and taken a chance, and boy am I happy that it has worked out for you. Sincerely I agree with every word @Frederic has said and I am glad that you have successfully unleashed the power of your vehicle which combined with your skills will see a very quick growth for you from this point on. Really wish there was a quicker way to grow in this sport, but experience is King and you need to spend your due time to add to your experience. I have been off-roading over 12 years and I am still learning from every one, so don't be shy learning from all opportunities presented to you.
