  1. As discussed on yesterday drive @luwaimn, it is not an offroad vehicle, it is just an AWD which does not go well with any offroading. It's just to give you a better grip on slippery wet roads and maybe pass a newbie level, but will not go beyond that level.
  2. TRIP REPORT: Wow what a wonderful write up by @Mohamed Seidam and so well expressed by @Shaaz Sha. My idea for this drive has been so well summed up that I'm happy I was able to execute my drive as planned. The fog in the morning caused some delays, but @luwaimn was the first one to reach before 5 am. This is what happens if you don't read the drive thread thoroughly. The problem with @luwaimn radio was sorted by @Mohamed Seidam as he leans a spare set to him. The entrance at Khatam is already so challenging that as we set off after deflation the first 200 meters saw @Rizwanm2 in need of a tug. As planned we cautiously tread forward as we faced a few technical dunes, a few Sabkhas and eventually the side ways up on top of Fossil Rocks as promised. None of these were without challenge as there is now a path leading to some point in the shadows of Fossil Rocks with low wires and lamps to light up the path. This meant flags had to be removed and put back on. But the greatest challenge here came with the rocks scattered all over the place and trying to negotiate with them all the way up to Fossil Rock. As we saw some friendly locals in a gathering which is not allowed during these Covid19 times, we just made our way around Fossil Rock to our next destination. It's been so long since I've thread this part I had almost forgotten how beautiful the terrain was to Camel Rock. With some beautiful dunes through which we were trying to make our way, to the mountains on our left, to the odd rock formations as we progressed. The journey continued with some awe for the terrain and it's beauty, while regular challenges were faced as we marched on to our final destination. As we head to Faya I met 3 old friends headed in the same direction. As a courtesy they gave us way to follow our trail as we tried to conquer Faya from the back. As we came close I warned every one regarding the challenges the need for speed and momentum. But as expected, as we entered this place where the rush of blood, your screaming engine and sand flying all over as the tires cut through the terrain, started throwing us challenges. In such terrains concentration, Car health and being able to follow the car in front of you are prime. Some of us learn the hard way, but as a team we always manage to take one obstacle at a time and move forward together. As these challenges we overcome with other Club convoys carelessly passing ours at times we patiently waited and marched on as a team. I am very proud of my team as they never ceased to amaze me with their patience and willingness to help each other. Together we were invincible. Our final climb which took as straight to the ridge on the left side of our Faya front face, it was a proud moment to see everyone on top. This meant the team needed to be rewarded for their hard work throughout our journey. The reward was to go back down and take turns to try and climb to the top from the front face. My reward at the end was to see all the smiles which told me the story of the day. Thank you @luwaimn for being my second lead. There are still a few things you need to get right at this level. Please make sure you get a radio and program it to the Carnity channels, plus get a proper tire gauge and test it before brining it to the drive. @Ali Abas Ali did extremely well with his 4 Runner. Seems like he's gelling in well with his ride. @Ajiesh George Kannankara has his monster Y62 well in control. Speaking about Y62s @tcarrimjee and @Senthil Kumar are really enjoying theirs and did well throughout the drive. Only faced 1 issue each during the drive but well managed and extremely well done to both. Unfortunately @Christian Andras missed out on all the fun, next time bro. @Mohamed Seidam a true team player, learning fast and has a beautiful approach to all situations. Plus a beautiful video and write up to sum up our day out. Love his enthusiasm and energy. @Anand Nataraj has a few things to learn still, but managed fairly well during the drive. @Francois Germishuys finally I got your name pronunciation better and trying to practice harder to get it right. The beast of F150 well within control and love to hear to roar every time the situation permits. @Hennie Schoeman really enjoy your company and the way you handle the Unlimited. Just sufficient power but you make it look good. I'm really touched by your gesture to message me once you were out and call to confirm if I was still alive. A true gentleman. @Shaaz Sha excited to see you every time. You handle your Wrangler so beautifully, yet keep your patience up at the back of the convoy for all to pass through. Such a wonderful feeling knowing you have signed up for my drive and to watch you grow in confidence and skills. Many thanks to @Brette who loves to work hard and told me later he does it deliberately. He told me he's joined the intermediate drives, but loves the challenges faced at Newbie and Fewbie level. Loves to help and give advise and watch the new comers grow with their skill sets and confidence as they progress to the new levels. This is what makes you a good leader, as a true leader takes the crowd with him as he teaches and nurtures them towards to top of the ranks. @Rizwanm2 also supports the convoy well as sweep to make sure all are moving. Surely we all show that we have room to improve, but love the way you take it with a smile. You made sure to communicate the convoy movement at all times and keeping our convoy together. What added to your challenge this week was the fact that several convoys passed us without any respect to convoy discipline. But you kept a cool head and did not let that bother you and followed the convoy discipline Carnity has set. All in all a wonderful drive, not because of an untroubled drive, but due to the patience and team work of each and every driver. Looking forward to the time we can drive together again. For those who have already completed 5 Fewbie drives I would recommend you to sign up for the Fewbie plus level for a smooth transition to the Intermediate level. Wishing each one of you nothing but the best, stay safe, stay blessed.
  3. @Christian Andras really sad that you'll not be able to make it, I was really looking forward to driving with you. Thank you for letting me know.

  5. Watch Car Throttle on Youtube. You can easily get a project car but make sure the MOT is valid. Fun show to watch.
  6. I agree with @Gaurav bhai. If driven with caution Newbie drives should be fine. However at Fewbie level we do start to get into some technical manoeuvres and this particular ride is untested at that level. Are you feeling adventurous?
  7. Thank you @topgear. We might be young as a club, but we have over 26 years of experience if you take only @Gaurav bhai and myself. We used our experience to mold this club to a community who cares about each other. When we start doing things right the right people with our mindset started joining in and we are now close to 500 strong. I must praise @Gaurav bhai a lot for his patience to understand the need for a structure and almost single handedly putting it in place. @Srikumar to be among the first to join us and moulded himself to an amazing individual we are all proud of. @Asif Hussain who learned a lot from us, but opened our mind to possibilities we could not have imagined. @Emmanuel for bring his amazing flavour to the community with endless questions. This enabled us to answer questions and realize where we need to plug the gaps. On the way brilliant people like @Frederic, @Ale Vallecchi, @Wrangeld, @Jeepie, @Brette, @sertac, @Shamil, @Desert Dweller, @Foxtrot Oscar, @Vanessa8580 and the likes kept joining in and making this journey absolutely worth it. Surely there are many more names that will get added to this list as we grow at an exceptional rate. We continue to look forward to remarkable individuals to learn from us and keep Carnity at the number 1 position it has achieved. My sincere thanks and gratitude to all who make our community the best one in the Middle East.
  8. Congratulations @Brette. Well deserved promotion bro. There are those who learn to follow and there are those who try to make their own way through. There are those who listen to experience and there are those who challenge everything. You've always listened keenly and asked questions. But you've let your curiosity taken the better of you. It would be easier to get something which could be used the the desert as a common toy, but you have really worked hard to learn your way with the JGC. Total respect to you for not listening to us and working so hard to make your black stallion truly yours. Nobody else can tame it except for you. Plus you opened up a chance for people to own, understand and use a JGC both on-road and off-road. Jeep might have built the JGC, but you've made it desert worthy. Well done bro.
  9. Very proud of you @sertac. Congratulations. Your greatest asset was being humble and approaching me for guidance and trying to understand what was required of you. As soon as you understood what was required of you, you've tirelessly worked at improving yourself to earn this promotion. The best things in life are free, but you still have to work hard to achieve them. Really happy for you.
  10. Thanks @Sinol for the timely information. @Ali Abas Ali you've been added to the drive. Get ready for some side ways fun tomorrow.
  11. @luwaimn and @Francois Germishuys you have been added for this drive, please confirm. Rest all the waitlist either you already got one drive elsewhere or another trip lead will be adding you soon.
  12. The vehicle display shows tire pressure as those vehicles are fitted with the TPMS (Tire Pressure Monitoring System). These are pretty accurate, however take time to send readings to your dash. So do not rely on them when deflating as by the time it shows 12 PSI you'll already on 8 PSI. But just to keep a check as you're driving is fine, or to double check once you're done deflating.
  13. No question is ever stupid. Only the answers can be stupid. You can go through the Gallery. For your ease I have put the link below. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/333-fewbie-al-lisaili-dubai-02-oct-2020
  14. @Francois Germishuys where did you see the space for 2? I really wish I could make space, but I'm too fat to fit anyone over the limit.
  15. This is the only club started by 2 friends. But all like minded friends joined in making the journey more pleasant for all who want to continue as part of this community.
  16. Excellent. @Mohamed Seidam you've become the real Superman to share these awesome videos. Truly people ask we did not see and we don't know. But you've started a trend where you and several others can share such stucks and refusals for all to learn from.
  17. @Ajiesh George Kannankara what a nice video mate. Live the sound track also. Sometimes it funny to see videos and think my car would never do that. But what a nice day out and beautifully captured through you lens.
  18. This used to be my favourite story to tell in pre-Covid times. I'm sure many of you are interested but many are too shy to ask and some can't find the words or think it's inappropriate to question on that. It's not so bad a question and it's all about friends making new friends and passing on the skills we acquired in over a decade of off roading each. Thanks to Dr @Chaitanya D for asking and @Desert Dweller reminiscing those good old pre-Covid days. @Gaurav bhai is my senior and has been in the desert for maybe 14 years if I'm not mistaken. I just completed 12 years in the wilderness. For @Gaurav bhai he caught up with life and some difficult decisions trying to nurture Carnity since 2010. While I continued to learn where he left off. At one point he supported me in my initiatives and events and started coming back to off-road regularly. He hadn't lost what he had learned since we learned things the hard way. @Carnity started up thanks to his Mitsubishi Pajero which he never gave up on. In 2010 if you googled up your car issues we would just see websites from either USA or South Africa or Australia. Another thing was the Pajero never made it to USA and was known as Shogun or Montero in other places. The biggest concern was these other model specs would be built slightly differently not allowing us to understand or work on our own cars. @Carnity became the first website to share information on GCC spec cars, proudly it is the only one to date in the Middle East. Back in late 2016 when I got really interested and started sharing information about my cars and checking regularly for updates and advise for my Nissan Pathfinder R50, I saw some interest in members for off-roading. I asked @Gaurav bhai if we could start an off-road club to which he was not sure. But after several discussions and couple of months of heated arguments we came to an agreement. @Gaurav bhai proposed I post 3 drives at different locations and he would support me. If we had interested members coming out to drive we would form our club or I would never mention it again. Agreement made. Our first official drive was on 27 Jan 2017. @Srikumar was on that fist drive and never look back. This and all 3 drives went full and soon we had enthusiasts and that's how the @Carnity off-road came to existence. Initially it was all about creating awareness about the different aspects of off-roading and passing on the skills and the art to fellow off-roaders. But the only constant thing in life is change. Thanks to @Gaurav bhai who thought we needed to put the structure into words. Although it might seem that I am a man of many words, but putting the technical details to words is what @Gaurav bhai did best. Revising the structure and improving with every drive became our passion. The newly joined off-roaders seeing things from a different angle became our strength. I'm very pleased to be coming close to 500 members in the club and how each one of you have contributed and made the @Carnity off-road club a success story. Each member brings their own flavour with their experience, culture and point of view as we have over 40 nationalities coming out every week to help us grow this common passion for this ever growing sport of off-roading. We have been through many hardships and difficult decisions. But together we are proud to make the decisions best for everyone's well being. One such challenge was Covid19 which we are still all trying to deal with on a daily basis in all aspects of our lives. We at @Carnity made a decision to be the first club to introduce drives with the Covid19 restrictions in place. Our community who understands and stands by our decisions are our strength to continue doing so in the toughest of times. Love our community and love each and everyone of the members striving to wake up at 3 am for drives posted at 5 am. For taking pics and videos and sharing it on @Carnity and their social media channels and making @Carnity popular among family and friends. My sincere thanks to all of you who read it through. It's your efforts that makes us stand out among a sea of clubs.
  19. Thanks @Nabil Bishara for keeping me informed. @Anand Nataraj you're the first one on my waitlist and have been added to the drive. Please confirm if you'll be able to make it? Below is the revised waiting list. 1. @Francois Germishuys 2. @Franco Swart 3. @luwaimn 4. @jodha singh shekhawat 5. @Luca Palanca Falsini 6. @Ali Abas Ali 7. @Sreejith Sreenivasan 8. @Ashy
