  1. The “wow” is actually for @edouard ... who opened this very good thread
  2. Loved your video @LewisCocks90, so funny ! Hope to see you guys very soon for your second drive with @Carnity.
  3. Good news @Frederic : squeaking sound is back after yesterday's offroad drive. Slightly squeaking though, no possible comparaison with what it was before... You will need a lightbar.
  4. Of course if you have more of this drive @Javier M, don’t hesitate
  5. @Frederic It looks like you won’t need lights for our night drives...
  6. Today I decided to give a try to one of the recommended ways to solve this quite annoying issue that many Xterra owners know (at least the regular off-roaders) : to apply lithium between the leaves. I used this 20dhs spray bought at ACE. Basically, you have to lift the car (with the system that will let the wheels free), use a screwdriver to create a gap between the leaves and add the grease in between each pair + on the sides and different mountings. When we took the car down, the miracle had happened. Not a single sound ! I drove back home with my windows opened, crossed humps at good speed : no more squeaking. Now let’s see how long it will last but so far it’s working. Previously I had tried everything except taking off the suspensions and clean them : w40, diesel, placing a rubber between the leaves... None of those had any effect.
  7. Sometimes it may be tempting, but... Who has tried the experience and how did it go ?
  8. Ok who has a video to post ? (It can be your stuck or someone else’s)
  9. Shuweihat Island, Location, Waypoints, Photos, Videos, Reviews and Feedback from the travellers who visited before. Shuwaihat Island offers the best mix of clear water shallow beaches with beautifully textured rocks and zero light pollution to enjoy the stars like never before. This island is a perfect place for any photographer to capture incredible shots of great variety from the sky, water, rocks, sun, beach, sea in one place. Sandstone colour rocks and low-lying cliffs that look like mini caves are mesmerizing in itself. Shuweihat Island is about 3 hours and 30 minutes away from Dubai and 2 hours and 30 minutes from Abu Dhabi. As you will be driving on International Highway E11 so be confident to overtake truckers every now and then at high speed. Although you can reach in a sedan car, but getting closer to the water or reaching to tall rocks or crossing the rocky terrain 4WD is better. I visited Shuwaihat Island on the last national day weekend and this place was very crowded with hundreds of cars. Shuweihat Island scenery is so beautiful that you can spend hours doing nothing and enjoying the nature if you plan to visit during good weather. You can enjoy the rocky formation and clear water shoreline is amazing, of course with sandals as the beach is mixed with sand and rocks. If you plan to stay here for long, you should carry enough water and food as there is no grocery or cafeteria nearby. You can fill up the petrol in the last Adnoc Fuel station at Qareen Al Aish and pack up the food supplies as this Adnoc gas station is big enough to have a convinient store, ATM, restaurant and toilets. Adnoc at Qareen Al Aish: https://goo.gl/maps/PSQ2hvJWHJy This is my recommended spot that I found the best in terms of scenic beauty and access to the beach. https://goo.gl/maps/B3utEm8nYmv 24°06’42.2”N 52°25’57.4”E Reviews: Tripadvisor - 4 out 5 based on 10 reviews Google: 4.6 out of 5 based on 152 reviews Best time to visit: October to May, when the weather is not too hot for outdoor. Shuweihat Island Entry Fee: There are no charges to visit or using public areas Shuweihat Island Timing: It is open 24/7, 365 days, you can enjoy in day and night too. Shuweihat Island Camping: Not sure if it's allowed everywhere, as part of Shuweihat Island is owned by Army. If you happen to make an attempt, keep it clean and less noisy and you might get away. Essentials: Outdoor clothing and closed footwear, few good torches or flashlight if you plan to stay after dark. Online GPS is a must for driving (offline is even better), carry plenty of water and food if you plan to stay outdoors for long hours. Keep it clean: Don't litter anywhere, because trash cans, plastic and glass kill wildlife. Emergency: If bitten by a snake or a Scorpio take a picture or remember the colour and size and rush to the nearest hospital for a specific antidote for that species. Keep yourself calm, so your blood pressure and heartbeat stay low to help you minimize the effect. Feedback: Please leave your feedback below if you have been to Shuweihat and like to add something more.
  10. And don’t thank me, actually I also didn’t want my beloved Jawaher (that’s my car’s name) to kiss your car 😘
  11. Great team work, guys ! You have covered almost everything. @WiLfY you're absolutely right, as you can see on this footage (again sorry for the low quality of the video). The question is why I took my foot off the gas, and here, as pointed by @Rahimdad and @Fuad, it was my mistake : not leaving enough distance with @G.huz's car in front. What happened exactly at this point is that I hesitated to steer more left and accelerate. Seeing the heavy wet sand (the night and the morning before there had been heavy rain and haze, good point @Javier M), I was not sure to be able to climb on the left, and in this case a failure could have led me to slid down and then hit the Pathfinder. Last point, and here @Gaurav is also right : after this stuck I had to bring down my tire pressure again. One hour earlier I had deflated to 12/12.5 psi, but with the heat (the temperature was high this afternoon), the gauge was now displaying 14. stuck1_embeded.mp4
  12. Having a refusal or getting completely stuck is something nobody should feel guilty about, since it's part of the off-roading game. It’s also an essential experience in your learning. Somehow, as long as you can understand what happened so you won’t repeat the same mistake over and over, it’s a must to improve. There are hundreds of reasons why you can get stuck. Some of them don’t directly depend on the driver (it can be related to an engine issue, the terrain, the climate, etc.), while others are just mistakes. Some of them are clear and obvious, others are more unpredictable and difficult to identify… As a big fan of @Rahimdad’s What Went Wrong ? thread, it came to my mind that we could simply adapt his brilliant idea by analyzing, not accidents, but stucks, and try to make together a list of all the possible reasons behind them. Please do share here your guesses, explanations... and videos. I’ll start easy, with one of my best stucks this year, which happened in Area 53 two weeks ago (I borrowed the footage from @Javier M). So... who can tell us why I got stuck here ? Stuck_1.mp4
  13. Excellent idea ! I suggest you empty a lot of space on your hard drive, starting with the last Sweihan intermediate footage, since it must be a very heavy file 😋
  14. What about Miriam Makeba, Dorothy Masuka, Mahotella Queens... ???
  15. Hi Per, I use the MotionX-GPS app, and so does @Gaurav who wrote a complete review on it : the only problem : you need an Iphone for this app which isn’t available on android... Wikiloc is also good.
  16. Guys April Fools day is over 😂
