Thanks for signing up @Derius Olivier @Zed @Josh T. @Santoso Marjuki @Salim Akhtar @Mus_hus78 @Arshad Roojee @Hasan Wahlan @Anoop Nair @Pascal @Adnan Halepota This drive will be in a new area (at least for me) so we might have to shuffle the drive plan a bit based on how many fences we come across. For the Dubai residents please be aware you will need to have a GREEN status on your AlHosn App when you cross the border, so please make sure you have done a PCR test prior so it reflects on the app.

@Pascali will keep you in the RSVP for now, but cannot promise nor confirm that your promotion will come through this week. Every promotion is being discussed with all marshals first, and fast-tracking from Newbie to Fewbie after only one drive is very rare in the club (safety precaution). I hope you understand. If your promotion is not finalised or accepted, you will need to drop from this drive. Hi @Anoop Nair seeing this is your first drive of the weekend, i have added you to the RSVP. See you !

Just like the 4Runner, these are US market vehicles and can only get here in UAE if you decide to import them. They are indeed very capable offroaders. The 4Runner is basically the US version of the Fortuner. I would not compare it with the Tundra, as they are smaller and lighter than the Tundra (which is a good thing in the dunes in my opinion). Going for Import brings some extra work and costs but it can be done. But be aware you will only get 3rd party insurance if the car is a US import (at least that's what i've heard).

Hi @Alphin Aloorif you have a drive already for this weekend, you will move to the waitlist, and there will be an icon next to your profile that shows 1 or 2 (first or second drive). From Thursday onwards we will accept and move people from the waitlist automatically into the "going" list if there is available space. SINGLE DRIVE REQUEST To prevent all drives from getting full on Monday by multiple RSVP, we would like to request everyone to please RSVP ONE DRIVE (for the weekend: Saturday and Sunday) initially and then RSVP your second or third drive from Thursday onward, please. Mon - Wednesday - Limiting one drive per member (For the weekend drives: Saturday and Sunday). Thursday onward - RSVP on multiple drives are open. P.S. You can waitlist your name anytime for multiple drives by clicking on the new "Add Waitlist" button.

Hey @Rob S ! I agree on the cosmetic part and love a bold wide stance on any 4x4. For me personally during self recovery I always stick my head out of the window and observe my tyres so I can crawl out of the situation. Having the wheels sticking out of the fenders helps for that. Basically if you decide you want to change the rims, you can indeed go for an offset of 0 or even negative (depends on the original ET value). Just be careful that your tyres are not rubbing too much against the fenders while off-roading. When you are up to change rims, you can visit a tyre shop and ask them to fit one of the rims on your car before deciding on the correct offset. Once you have a lift kit, the rubbing wouldn’t be an issue anyways. If you fancy keeping the original rims, then wheel spacers are a good option. (H&R spacers are great). A 2 inch wheel spacer will give a nice wide stance. Original rims are very good quality and much better than going for cheap Chinese rims. So when you do get rims, try to go for a known brand and not a replica or rip-off.

Drive Report Upon my arrival at the meeting point this morning i was greeted by a nice pond in front of us, where we used to have the official meeting point. Thanks to @M.Seidam his information, we lined up along the cycle track and once deflated, headed into the dirt track from where we did the briefing. The sand was maybe forgiving today, but honestly you guys and gals rocked ! Your enthusiasm and willingness to help others was spot on and that's what we love so much about these drives. A few highlights: - @Faiz Amir who brought the humongous Armada, was perfect as second lead. There was one hiccup where i crossed a dune and descended into a very rocky area, and thanks to him he did not follow and listened to my instructions perfectly and swift. - @Ayman Alqwasmi who took the challenge of bringing the Koleos, accepted the challenge with bravoure and drove excellent ! - @Yasirimam who was always immediately out and about to share his compressor, and help with the small inflation issue on @Jessica Lambert, you are a fantastic team player and i look forward driving with you again ! - @Mahmoud Taha Driving the Xterra without apprehension, they are fantastic offroad vehicles and you will surely get the best out of it. - The boys and girls towards the center and back, @Jessica Lambert @Thian @Simon Innes @Saleh Kuba @Beide Worku @Yesu Yarlagadda you all drove superb today, i hope you had a good time ! If you have photos to share, please feel welcome to put them in our gallery: Absolute Newbie - Al Qudra - Dubai - 9 Jan 2022 - Carnity.com Thanks to @Rizwanm2 for his great support ! PS @Jessica Lambert your Motorola radio will be useful for our Carnity Channels 1 till 4 (on your radio these will be 1,3,5,7) but you will need a radio that allows you to program all our channels. You will find a topic on that below: A Baofeng UV5r will only set you back 75dhs and could be your perfect backup in case we are using channels 5 till 10 on any of the drives. Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive anymore. Drives are announced every Monday at 11am, and they go live on Monday evening at 7pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. If you miss a spot, put your name on the waitlist asap. Generally, by Thursday with dropouts everyone does get a spot if they have waitlisted. For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag, compressor and radio as a MANDATORY requirement.
