Hi @Ahab Shamaa yes that test will be valid and you should take out the printout with you if possible. Make sure the test is done no later than 48hours before crossing the border.

@Abilash Madhavan Hi Abilash, you might have not noticed that we are going to LIWA with 5 convoys on coming Wednesday and Thursday, which is an event that needs a lot of planning and hence there will be no Newbie drives next Friday. This is a once in a year event that will exhaust us all so would appreciate your understanding.

@Probir Mukherjee there is a slot available on the Fewbie level drive. You are currently signed into the Newbie level drive, please inform which drive you prefer ?

Important Update: As we are getting closer to Liwa It seems that due to the national Day holiday, a huge rush is expected at the Ghantoot testing center especially during the day time and probably till late in the evening. And so, if you dont have an appointment there will most likely not let you in. Hence, I would HIGHLY RECOMMEND, everyone to do the DPI test in advance through the SEHA app at the National Screening Centers. There are no slots anymore in Dubai before few days, but you can still find some at Sharjah Shooting Club tomorrow. I am sure that none of you would want to miss the opportunity of Liwa just because of the DPI test.

What a fantastic introduction @Atif ! I remember joining the club and cafeteria Atif at the end of each drive with wonderful Karak Chai from either you or Rahim Bhai. Probably none of us thought that two years later Carnity has become the fastest growing, hardest working, and most amazing off-road club of the UAE and that the community spirit has groomed people of all backgrounds to become seniors who contribute on a weekly basis by supporting or leading drives. I for one feel blessed to be able to be a part of this big family and if I can speak for all the other seniors we are delighted to see you back in the sands. Hi @Anoop joseph you are free to camp anywhere but we cannot encourage any coordination with other carnity members (no gatherings are allowed). I would recommend you use the tarmac road that goes to Moreeb and set up camp just next to that road. There are also a few dirt tracks that go into the sabkhas from there. No need to deflate if you stay on that dirt track.

Rest assured the level difference will be very minimal and the Liwa experience won’t be less on a Newbie level drive. Hi @Athula Dharmadada A Newbie drive would be a better option if you are planning to bring family along. As I mentioned earlier this is extreme terrain which will demand the maximum of your vehicle for a whole day. There is still space available and will make the experience better for your family. Driving for 5-6 hours in this terrain as a passenger will be very demanding.

DRIVE REPORT Leading an Absolute Newbie drive is always an adventure, and seeing the smiles again after a few hours of dune-driving makes it all worth. We started off with deflating, and stressed on the importance of getting it right. There is only a little bit of air pressure difference between 14 or 18psi, but the result can be felt immediately, so it was good to experience this and practice it right. Nevertheless after a few hours of desert driving the pressure will slowly creep up again, so it's good keeping an eye on it from time to time. The entry point brought us almost immediately into the long range dunes, where we practiced some minor sidesloping and made some nice loops. Firstly because it is fun, but also because it teaches you all about steering control and the use of momentum. The two Pajeros behind me, with @Abdul Rahman Abdul Kader doing an amazing job as second lead, and @Abilash Madhavan getting the hang of his capable Pajero, were in pursuit of my little blue, that has spent a week in the workshop and i was glad to finally take back the steering wheel. @Santhosh kumar Rajasekaran driving the mighty Range Rover, is not the easiest vehicle to learn, but you did well and kept a cool head, even when the engine starting throwing some errors and @sertac had to do some diagnosis with his magic OBD box. @Gavin Hill and @Chris Meir were excited to hit the dunes, and you guys both did amazing. Gavin, i hope your initial fear of getting the Hummer H2 stuck in the sand has been replaced with the confidence and knowledge that the key thing is momentum at all times, especially when driving a big mighty V8. You both did a cracking job ! @Rajesh Anchan and @Bala Krishnan both brought their Prados to the drive, and both drove really well ! The same applied for @Dinesh Dembla and @pramod who brought the legendary Landcruiser. Well done guys ! @Thomas Varghese you were in the back of the convoy and that is always a little bit more difficult because of the churned up sand, but you were also lucky to receive the wonderful guidance from @sertac who did an absolute amazing job today. Keep up the momentum and don't be afraid to wake up the beast that a Xterra is. You will be surprised once it wakes up Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. DRIVE RSVP IS NOW CLOSED We are having a nice convoy with lots of capable cars, and a very strong support with @sertac being my sweep to keep an eye on the convoy. Please make sure to bring a tyre deflator and pressure gauge. We will be deflating our tyres when we arrive to about 14-15psi to make sure the car is "floating" on the sand instead of digging in it. For the ones that have a radio, we will be using Carnity Channel 1: 446.00625 Mhz. We have spare radios for the members that do not have a radio yet. Please arrive on time 06:00AM SHARP or preferably a bit earlier. Most people on the drive arrive 15-20mins earlier so they have ample time to deflate and put their flag on. Make sure you and your passengers are wearing a mask when you are outside the vehicle, this is a strict rule and makes sure we can all keep safe and according to the government regulations.
