  1. Congrats @Kalahari ! As soon as this Covid stuff is over, you can invite us for a braai !
  2. Congratulations @Chaitanya D ! Now the fun really starts !
  3. Yeah...... i guess i'll need to get that sorted anyways 😂 @Mels Wolf can you provide some details on your fix ?
  4. Trip Report The Mahafiz to Fossil Rock is a relatively well known area for the Carnity members. But my plan to bring them to Faya would definitely bring a new flavour and I was excited to see how everyone would manage. We started off at Mahafiz Mosque with everyone on time, and after the short briefing we drove towards the rising sun. The first half hour we explored an area that we haven’t done often yet, but due to a bit too much vegetation I decided to head a bit more north towards the bigger red dunes. Apart from some small refusals and one stuck we easily made it up Fossil Rock. I wasn’t really interested in taking the convoy over Fossil Rock so decided to drive around it and drive towards Faya. From that point onwards I started to ramp the level a bit by bringing more crisscrossing and ridge riding in the game. Reaching the back side of Faya where the dunes become massive proved to be a little bit tougher for some of the cars. We rerouted a bit and climbed all sides of Faya. @Lucky sAm was feeling in his element and was unleashing his beast more and more. Was great to see you with that excitement and confidence buddy, but be careful on the way down. But you drove well throughout the day! @tjsingh as a second lead was a blessing, thanks buddy ! @Mostafa Taha you have grown a lot in a couple of weeks, well done ! @Martin. all the way from Al Ain, and that deserves a hat off. You drove well today, your Pajero 3.5 is little bit underpowered but you managed nevertheless. @Jorge Stepniak Felippe I must admit I had my reservations about the LR4 but this shows again it’s all about the driver. You surprised us all driving great with that behemoth ! @Rinelle Sanaani who brought personal deflators, but looked like you had a blast and you also drove great 👍! @Mels Wolf Like Jorge it’s all about the driver. You’re taking that Pajero beyond anyone’s expectations ! Great job ! @Michael sammy the roar of your beast is amazing and you navigate with ease through any terrain. Amazing. @Tbone congrats as a newlywed gentlemen. Maybe your Hummer was a bit jealous that you need to give attention to your wife now. I hope you can get it sorted. Keep us posted. With @Shamil @Ale Vallecchi @Xaf as my support I was spoiled with such proactive and great assistance. It’s thanks to you the convoy moved along so well and we could exactly do the route that I had in mind. Thanks guys !! We excited at Faya and i saw a lot of happy faces of people that probably could have never imagined driving at this level in such a short period of time. I thank you all and look forward to many more of these drives. IMG_5824.MP4
  5. No problem, thanks for informing. Take care and see you soon again !
  6. A Radio license is required for commercial usage like security companies, construction companies, etc. For hobbyist using the radio in the desert, we prefer to use license-free to use frequency band (PMR446.0-446.1)
  7. Thanks Gregory, We've had quite some newbies getting this radio lately. The UV5R is a classic with lots of whistles and bells and online tutorials (popular with the HAM radio community in USA). If you need info on programming, have a look at the Advices section: https://carnity.com/advice/offroad/carnity-two-way-radio-frequencies-r119
  8. The nearest gas station has fire extinguishers. A medical kit probaby comes standard in your glove compartment. Have a look and keep me posted.
  9. Is this applicable for Gen 3 Pajero ? In my Gen4 i've tried removing the TC fuses underneath the dashboard, but ABS kept kicking in. Only solution was to remove the ABS relay under the hood.
  10. Congrats on the new ride @andy_macdxb Our offroaders @Jas Gajaria @Dale Panganiban - Fabrication might be of help on the specific on how to deactivate the ABS and traction aids.
  11. @Rinelle Sanaani @Mahmoud Hamzawy @Mostafa Taha @Martin.@Jorge Stepniak Felippe @Roshan Abraham @Jeffrey Osito Pilgreen @Denizzalbayrak @Michael sammy @tjsingh @Tbone Quick reminder to all fewbies on Friday's drive to make sure you have ALL MANDATORY offroad gears as per your drive level: Please also read and understand all the following points below before joining off-road drives. With the current COVID-19 pandemic, we all need to be very responsible for our-self and others. To keep the briefing short, please go through https://carnity.com/brief before joining the drive. I'd usually go to Deira near the Metro station where you have those laptop repair and phone repair shops, but not sure if going downtown now is advisable. You could maybe check with Geeks.ae. They are in JLT
  13. Unichip and Pedal Commander are two different animals and each have their own functionalities: - Unichip is basically a plug and play unit that connects to your engine management system, and that is made to enhance the car's performance. I've never been a big fan of chiptuning, unless you do it on a recent vehicle with max 50-60k on the odometer. After that the engine has settled, and i would not go for chiptuning anymore, but that's just my two cents and not based on facts that the engine might suffer more. - Pedal Commander is a unit that you connect between the pedal actuator and the ECU. What this one does, is manipulate the output voltage of your pedal as per your desired setting. So for example if you put it on ECO mode, and you push the throttle pedal, the signal to the ECU will be slightly delayed, or the throttle signal will be limited, resulting in a more soft throttle response. Vice versa using the Sports Mode will make the responsiveness more aggressive and fast, which can indeed help to have that big beast to slightly react faster (which you could also to by pushing harder on the throttle). When learning to drive offroad, and especially on newbie level, i would never vouch for spending dirhams on any of these items. But when the time comes that you are completely in tune with your car, and are looking for an upgrade in terms of either performance or responsiveness, than you can start looking at these things, one at a time (don't get them both installed at the same time as it will massively confuse you and how you feel the car). I remember how sensitive @Gaurav was when he changed the rear springs on his car, and later when i reached intermediate and advance level i finally understood how ANY small change on your vehicle can have big consequences and might take you some time to get in tune with your vehicle again.
  14. What you could also do is buying a short piece of webbing sling (40-50 dhs), like from a gas station tow rope, cut off the metal shackles at the end, and use this piece of sling as a kind of sleeve protection. So you basically loop this one through the hole of the fabricated plate, and then loop your soft shackle behind. Below crappy picture explains it better: So that cheap simple webbing sling just acts as a protection sleeve. If it starts to wear, just move it up a bit or throw it. It will protect your 120dhs soft shackle. If you are really inventive, roll up your latest penthouse magazine, and loop your soft shackle through this one. But it will destroy your precious magazine
  15. My sister in law used to drive the Ka Roadster. Funny car and nice to drive on those springtime sunny days
  16. Hi @Nayan Shenai I will be leading the Fewbie drive that same morning from Mahafiz. Will try to meet up with Rahimdad maybe to hand over you the radio.
  17. Reese is a household name for tow hitches. I’ll ask Xaf to give it a good tug coming Friday 😜
  18. Welcome to Carnity ! Lots of people order their radios on Amazon nowadays. Just make sure it’s a UHF radio with manual programming possibilities. recommended and tested models: - Crony / Motorola MT777 - Prolab WT5WD - Baofeng UV5r or UV9r - Crony 888 Under the Advices section you’ll find programming instructions.
  19. I am sorry to hear this buddy, be safe and we wish you the best for you and your family !!
  20. @Sajithsas @Muffy Acidwala Please take note this is a Fewbie level drive only. As per your current levels you are both still Newbie. Kindly sign out from this drive. You’re welcome to join the Newbie drives this weekend. @Denizzalbayrak has your rear towpoint been sorted ?
  21. Dobinsons have upgraded suspension kits for Pajero Gen4. I think price wise it’s around 3500 dirhams at least.
