  1. If you noted the parentheses ... You and shehab challenging for sweep. Or maybe 2nd lead.
  2. Of course you can @Peter Hogg and driving a Pejero is perfect (that's my ride as well). Please let us know a little bit more about you and looking forward to seeing you on Friday morning.
  3. Good morning and welcome to all the Absolute Newbies already signed up for our drive on Friday. Morshedi @Morshedi Badar Tariq @Badar Tariq ARAGON @ARAGON Ahmed Mostafa @Ahmed Mostafa Peter Hogg @Peter Hogg As this is a first drive with Carnity, it would be great to know from you: What is your vehicle (and any modifications you have)? How much off road driving have you done, if any? What do you want from your off road experiences - picnics, BBQs or driving up the slip face at Moreeb? In terms of equipment. It's in the instructions. The biggie is often the compressor. You can pick up a decent double chamber 'Camel' compressor from Dragon Mart for around AED260 (depending on your negotiating skills and patience). For anyone without a compressor, unfortunately the nearest air line in a garage to the end of the drive is an Enoc station that is around 20km from Last Exit. We can drive there for anyone that needs it - but after deflation driving on tarmac requires care and lower speed. Any general questions, post them here in the comments. And please, look on the site. There's a massive amount of information here that answers most quetions. See you soon in the sand.
  4. WL for this drive, all 2nd drive @Thomas Varghese @Shehab Alawadhii(fighting @Watteaufor sweep duties?) @Gaurav Soni @Ahab Shamaa

  8. Post Drive Report @AlexPol @Yawa @Desert Dweller @Pacific @Shehab Alawadhi @Lakshmi Narasimhan @TT_Dubai @Alain Canivet-Abikhalil @kolinrrj @Foxtrot Oscar @Niekku @Darren Brooke @Ale Vallecchi @Wrangeld @Jeepie When we started driving in Carnity, it was not such a surprise to see more senior members in every drive, so it was with a sense of excitement that the drive Sunday had such an impressive contingent of senior club members. Personally, I think that it should always be like this. For just about every Newbie there was a senior club member in front of them showing them a great line to drive and helping them to self recover when the going got tough. I loved it, friends I have been driving with for some time and new friends to be made joining in the fun and showing such enthusiasm that it was contagious. In the end the drive was a high level Newbie (mainly because I pushed everyone to try a few criss crossing moves that would not normally be in the Newbie handbook) which took us from almost Solar Park roundabout the Qudra dunes and all the way back to Last Exit. For me, there's a sense of achievement in getting back into Last Exit as the end point to a drive because its that point where you can relax, inflate at ease, get a drink if you need, find a bathroom and take time to chat to a few people before you make your way home and off to your next activity. All the newbies should be immensely proud of themselves for this drive. I do not underestimate the added pressure of knowing that the seniors are all around you (how ever comforting that might be) and the possible feeling of "will I ever be able to do that?" watching them float above the sand effortlessly as they come to someone's rescue or seeing them hold a long ridge ride or side slope that looks terrifying or too difficult for you. But we've all been there. We were all beginners too and none of us ever forgets that. We all remember that fist excitement of 'wow, my car can really do this, and so can I' and it does not leave you. That's why we all love Newbie drives. OK - for the more experienced it can be a little more relaxing than some drives, but we know that each and every one of the less experienced drivers is an essential part of the lifeblood of the club. Without you the seniors are nothing more than a group of enthusiastic sand drivers! I hope that everyone enjoyed the drive as much as me. See you soon in the sand.
  9. Must invest in a relive - looks like you hit above 100kph! Quite impressive! Your wife has made my afternoon quite a treat, thanks Suzie
  10. Drive Report Convoy #2 I am hoping not to forget anyone in this report after what was a really interesting double header drive from Murquab this morning. Firstly thanks to @Ale Vallecchi for dealing with all the admin on the drive. This was not made easier by the fact that the drive was so popular it was opened it up to a second convoy that I had the privilege to lead. Our mysterious plan was to start at Murquab mosque, make our way to the outskirts of Solar Park and then double back to end at Lisali Fort - perfect symmetry as my Friday morning Fewbie drive had started from there. In planning the drive with Ale, we had decided that it would be fun if we met up with each other at the start, at two points in the drive and at the end. Amazingly, we managed to make that happen, ending within 5 minutes of each other after a 4.5 hour drive. Yes, we had a few recoveries (myself included) but this was a really smooth drive with everyone doing their bit to so that as far as possible we could keep moving and keep the ther convoy in sight. Things were made a little more challenging by the unplanned conversion of @MUHAMMAD Kashif RAZZAQ Jeep into a Rubicon by @Rob Harper early into the drive (after which he was exited) but after that it was pretty plain sailing. It was a lead I enjoyed because of the way the convoy really helped each other and was a good mixture of experience. I think that as drivers progress in the club they sometimes forget how much fun it can be to join drives at all levels (and not just at their rank) and this weekend has been a perfect example of that. More experienced drivers really help less experienced drivers by joining drives and driving a great line in front of them, helping with recoveries, sharing experiences. Stand out contributions from today: @Thomas Varghese: Flawless drive in 2nd lead. Followed every line and every instruction given. I am sure that @sheri was a beneficiary of that example. @Yousef Alimadadi I was was quite hard work as CF today and you did a great job done, using all the newly learned knowledge to everyone's benefit. @Watteau brilliant as Sweep. Calmy talking down drivers from their stucks (no mean feat because you are not so often stuck yourself), and self recovering very well when you did. I am sure that the churned up sand meant that you might even have been able to get the car out of 2nd gear today! Thanks for the assistance from everyone else who drove so well including @Niki Patel, @Humayun Ghias, @stavros papachristos, @Mobeen Anwar, @Sreejith Sreenivasan it was a pleasure. See you soon in the sand

  13. Good luck @Nabil Bishara @Islam Soliman @Nivin you're at the start of an amazing new journey. Enjoy every minute. Thanks @Gaurav for giving up your time to continue training our next set of leaders.
  14. If you don't have another car nearby to be able to use jump leads this could be useful, but normally you can put another vehicle close enough to jump them. If not, it could help.
  15. You will see Ale - don't worry (on the right hand side of the road (and through the drive I am sure). And ... who would not want you in their team?
  16. Take a look above - you drew the short straw: You're in the left hand side convoy ... 😏
  17. Congrats @Thomas Fumarola looking forward to seeing you tomorrow morning in your new rank.
  18. Gefeliciteerd @Jaap look forward to driving with you.

  20. @Thomas Fumarola please make sure your Fewbie promotion has been approved before tomorrow. Otherwise, I am afraid you will not be allowed to join the drive.
