  1. hi @Chaitanya D - Apologies, I cannot make the drive on Friday, please remove me from the drive. Enjoy and be safe !
  2. this was an amazing drive and the fact we were the only convoy despite being a long holiday weekend made it that much more special. my family had a great time ! hope to see you all in the dunes again soon. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi and @Foxtrot Oscar and everyone !
  3. Hi @Ale Vallecchi looking forward to this afternoon. now that dubai has lifted a lot of restrictions on movements / gatherings, any chance we can allow more than 2 passengers, especially if we are all from the same household ? Thanks
  4. This was one of the most fun drives with gorgeous scenery and great group of drivers. Thanks @Ale Vallecchi for the opportunity to be your centre forward- my first time in that position which gives a unique perspective on the convoy. As always @Wrangeld provided a great anchor to the convoy in the sweep position. Look forward to seeing you all again soon !
  5. Hi @Brette - apologies for the error, as I thought the restriction on multiple drives was for same day drives. Please can you take me off this Qudra drive and place me on the waitlist ? I will retain my spot on the Oct 24th morning drive. Thanks !
  6. thanks @Frederic - is there merit in considering any different type of transmission oil which is better able to handle higher temperatures ? Or is the additional fan the only solution ?
  7. Great drive report. I really enjoyed the first part of the drive as it was my first time in the area. Very disappointed to have to exit early because of Pajero transmission overheating problems - will try and get this fixed before the next drive. Thanks @Jun Zamora, @Biju Abdul for the recovery when I crested and @Emmanuel for the recovery and guidance towards the end of my very short drive See you all next time !
  8. Thanks @AviG ! Wadi sal was an awesome experience, with some fairly tough driving spots. Pajero did well except for the overheating issue - had to do a couple of stops along the way. Does anyone know what is the building on the plateau at the top? I tried attaching a couple if videos but they’re above the 25mb limit
  9. Hi @Ale Vallecchi with sincere apologies, I will not be able to join this drive tomorrow as we have some last minute out of town visitors ! I'm super bummed as it sounds like an amazing drive and would have been my first intermediate ! Hope you all have a great and safe drive. Best, Asif
  10. Hi @Frederic hope you’re well. Unfortunately I cannot join the drive on Friday as something has come up. Please remove me to make room for someone on the waitlist. Have fun guys and stay safe ! Best, Asif
  11. Hi @Ale Vallecchi thanks for the drive brief- sounds really fun and i’m looking fwd to it. Unfortunately won’t be able to join the lunch at barracuda. See you on Saturday!
  12. Thanks @Gaurav bhai for the promotion and thanks all for the encouraging words. @Wrangeld for sure I now have my work cut out for me !! best, Asif
  13. Thanks @Wrangeld and @Frederic. My car is doing exactly what you're saying - hunting for the gear and I'm having to floor it to down shift. I don't have the problem of the car downshifting itself in manual (mine's a 2018). Will try more manual driving on the next drive and see how it feels. If it still overheats, then will have to resort to the extra fan !
  14. Thanks again @Wrangeld for an amazing drive yesterday. Fast speeds and challenging dunes, coupled with the soft sand was really fun ! I was frustrated with the transmission overheating issue, though really appreciated the patience of the group as I dealt with the issue. I had hoped that with the temperature just slightly lower these days, it would not be as much of an issue yesterday, but obviously the tougher drive had an impact. I did some more research into this today and spoke with Rishi at Specialised Garage in Al Quoz. His feedback was that this pajero must be driven in manual rather than “D”, as in the auto mode it is constantly shifting and searching for the right gear and so overloads the transmission. His own ethos is to keep with a “stock” car so he recommended trying to drive in manual next time and see if that makes a big difference. The other option is the installation of an extra fan, but I have not acted on it yet. Let me try a drive or two in manual and see what happens Away from that transmission issue, the scenery yesterday and the distance we covered (23.9KM) were amazing. Thanks again and see you soon ! Will post some pics in the gallery
  15. Hi @Gaurav, @Frederic @Srikumar @Rahimdad and all, a question : is there a place to get a mount with a flag that “snaps on” rather than “screws on” which I can put on my pajero ? I’ve been using the AOR suction cup style mount, but I find that it shifts or tilts when driving and would like a more permanent solution that would be easy to put on and take off. All guidance welcome thanks!
  16. @Gaurav can i be on the waitlist pls ? Hi Gaurav, I saw a spot open up on the drive so I have signed up. Thanks !
  17. Hi @Gaurav, i’m not going to be able to join the drive this friday, please can you remove me to make room for someone on the waitlist. Best, Asif
