  1. Hi guys! Hope you had a better continuation of the drive than the start. It was very sad to see you all ”vroooming” away, and living me behind, however, it was the right thing to do…From the technical point of view, I didn’t expect this to happen, not that bad. I have never, ever had a pop out, and felt a little bit ”overconfident” thinking “this doesn’t happen to me”, so I guess this was a small lesson in being more humble. What I have done, is to change the tires from 285/70 to 275/65, keeping the same rims…Tires were brand new 2 days old. Misstake. The tyre guy today said the tires need a while to get a bit softer, and “mold” a bit to the rim. Many thanks to @Lorenzo Candelpergher for the swift and expert guidance with the 2 pop outs. Also thanks to the rest of you who helped. I know that everyone wants to help, but still when you are the one causing the delay, it’s so stressful knowing you’re keeping everybody still… Went straight to the tyre shop, and fixed the tires. No damages, besides on of the tyre pressure sensors that broke. The biggest damage is the psychological one, cause my faith in the FJ, which has been rock solid until now, is somewhat weakened 😩. But I guess that happens sooner or later in any relationship 😂. So I have already found new rims to buy, cause the only way out of this is beadlocks. Anyone has any opinion/knowledge about “Black Rhino Primm” rims?? A final word to @Gaurav: you told me the danger of starting modifying the car, where you get into a never ending spiral of more mods/more time/more money. Well, here I am, living the dream: bought the car like this, w 285/70 tires>no problems>started with extreme drives>front wheels where touching sometime>decided to lift the car just a notch + spacers> hitting got MUCH worse>removed spacers>better but still not perfect>changed to smaller tyres>Today it was perfect and I fell like a king for 10 minutes before getting a double pop-out…I hope the beadlock rims will put an end to this drama… Hope to get the chance to have more drives like the first 2-3 extreme drives, which were magical, super intense and virtually with no stops/stucks/accidents… See you! /Chris
  2. Cool idea, I'd love to test, but they only have straight, my led bar is curved...:-(
  3. Hi guys! I started this thread a while ago. Got mixed info. I was worried about 2 things with extra lights: glare and sound. I now got myself a ledbar. Glare is not a problem at all. But...sound is. I was surprized how much noise it makes. Part of the problem disappeared when I got a leather cover, and up to 120km/h it’s ok. Above that the sound is clearly heard, and there are some vibrations in the roof. Tested the light during a drive with @Chaitanyarecently, and it is very good. But I am honestly not 100% happy with the noise... Putting a light in the smaller grill on the hood is too small for good light.
  4. Very sory to hear you cancelled, and feel a bit responsable...but it also means we’ll do this another time...?😬👍
  5. @Emmanuel I am very, very sorry for this, but I have to bail out from tonight’s drive, due to unforeseen family duties (which I cannot skip = my wife would kill me)...really sorry guys, I had looked forward to this.
  6. @Emmanuel I just got word I need to work this weekend😩! I am so sad I have to remove myself from the drive🥲🥲
  7. Shit, thought the flying part was a “french affair”...😱😱😱...Luckily I do have a Pilot License...don’t know about my FJ, but we’ll try😂😂😂
  8. I am so happy I snatched the last place!!! Same place we drove with @Emmanuel like 2 weeks back. It was absolutely amazing then, so my expectations are high!!!
  9. The rules are changing all the time, but still clear. No DPI twice in a row. And non paper results, you have to present the Al Hosn app... I had PCR last time, but to be on the safe side I will do PCR later today. I really don’t want to miss this drive😬😬
  10. @Emmanuel first time I am urged to sign for a drive 😬😬. Much honored.🙏. As soon as I saw the drive I immediately wanted to join. I’ll do what I can to secure a spot! See you!
  11. Today’s drive was one of the best drives I have had with Carnity so far. After 2 drives in Abu Dhabi which were so cool in their own right, I was surprised to see today’s relatively big dunes in Dubai (I have never been to this specific area before). I was so thrilled by the prolonged and very intense periods of driving in mixed terrain at sustained high speed. The feeling of absolute concentration needed is very addictive. From the discussion after the drive I understand everyone felt the same, all concentrating on their own performance and the car ahead. It was helpful that we were few cars (5) in the convoy, but still cool to move together so fast. We didn’t have any significant stucks or refusals. Another sign of the good tempo we had, was that we finished way earlier than planned (which I have never experienced before). Thanks @Emmanuel and the rest of the team for this great drive! Please, please, pretty please, more drives like this🙏🙏😀😀. P.S. During today’s drive I realized I will “need” to maybe modify the suspension on my FJ, felt like a bit harder shocks would have been better😬. Sorry @Gaurav, but not everybody can afford a car with adjustable suspension😂😜
  12. Thanks for this suggestion!!! Where would I find that kind of shop?? I saw (I think) @Chaitanya had one of those...
  13. Hi guys: just an update on my initial question. So I installed this nice LED bar. Light is great, both front and sides. There is NO glare at all from the hood. But... It does make sound🙁🙁. Between 20-80 km/h there is a whistle kind of high pitched noise. 80-130 there is more “normal” wind noise. Above that, the entire roof has a slight vibration/noise. So not at all perfect. Right now I can stand it. If the radio is on, it doesn’t bother me. But it is definitely all about expectations: I did not expect it to sound THIS much. I am thinking either to remove it later or try to install a wind deflector behind the bar...I don’t really know...
  14. @Srikumar I withdraw my spot since I was accepted into Emmanuel’s drive. Hope to drive with you another time!
  15. @Frederic please don’t scare people away, I am soooo much looking forward to this drive....:-) @GauravSoni I was planning to camp, but I will arrive very late on the evening, so I don’t know yet if I make it at all...
