Yeah, I hear you on the gas station woes in the U.S. I found that out the hard way on an all night drive through Cali when I ran out and had to sleep at the gas station until they opened! 45 days will give me time to test the Promate I ordered! Or I might ask some of my American friends for one for Xmas
I have acquired about 5 different dash mounts for a phone holder/ go-pro over the years all of which are useless. Looking for a recommendation for a mount which can be positioned sufficiently out of the direct sun to prevent phone failure or melting the mount... both of which have happened. The air vent mounts are too close to the steering wheel and make visibility and using hand controls awkward. The suction mounts don't seem to like the curved pajero dash and the magnetic holders never seem to hold on off road terrain. Advice welcomed!
@Gaurav @Mels Wolf thanks for the support guys. Had an awesome time even when accidentally blazing my own trail! Having you there gives me the confidence that when I mess up I will have the voice of experience to coach me out of it. Pictured me defying gravity on my off course refusal.
Thank you so much! We appreciate it. We'll be on the Newbie drives once this one is completed. Looking forward to it and figured out the ABS issue so will be good to go this time
I was joining this one with @Kieran McKeown - I live in RAK and stay in his place in Dubai - he wasn't able to make it last week when we were supposed to go together. Unless we both cancel?
Yes, thank you I did read that post. I should have been clearer. Looking for somewhere I can do a quick in and out for a safety flag and pressure gauge. Dragon Mart is colossal!
I'll get the minimum required for this first drive, just in case I'm really bad at it and decide it's not for me! Any tips on where to buy this stuff? Any hardware section?
Hi there. New member and Absolute newbie!
Driving a Black Pajero, 2010 with front and back tow eyelets in PWO.
No safety equipment yet, plan to purchase medical kit and flag today if I can find them at Carrefour? Currently only have a mini camping shovel.
Drove once in the desert and in perfect rookie style got stuck cos I never deflated my tires.
Thank you - getting the message RSVP Limit reached, though. Also regarding the radios and other equipment. Is it necessary to have everything as a newbie on the first drive? I'm living in RAK so I don't think I can get a radio before Friday.
Hiya! Absolute newbie here and would like to join Al Qudra this Friday morning if possible? Finding it confusing to navigate the calendar so apologies if I'm doing it wrong.
