  4. @Thomas Varghese good to see you buddy lurking around and dropping by to help. BTW zulfikar wouldn’t be able to see your number as it is not public information otherwise bots will scrape that info in no time.
  5. @BERTZSKIE - your query on a very old post but let me try to answer you. The short answer is no. Thermostat plays an important role in the car engine by regulating the engine temperatures. Initially when a car is started: it helps the engine to heat up quickly so that the engine can run efficiently at optimum temperature and then it also helps to cool it down when the engine is running by regulating the coolant flow though the engine block.
  6. @Gaurav what does @Vishnu Ramankutty knows that we others don't know?
  7. Congratulations @Mark B definitely a deserving promotion. Well done!
  8. While I planned for a bit more long-range dunes, it turned out to be mostly a technical drive. Having said that it is impressive to note that we drove about 82km at 25.5 kmph moving speed. I must say the end few min was the highlight of the drive when I pushed the limits in the Little Sweihan area and just kept quiet because I knew better not to jinx the concentration of the team. When I thought that the convoy was out, I opened my mouth to express my astonishment at what the convoy did. Alas it was a dune too soon and we had a couple of refusals. We did only half the planned track as you can see below but I am glad we still did it because i was in two minds and was actively considering going direct towards the exit track. Otherwise, the track was a bit bushier than I remembered from last month and took a bit more time to come out of the greenery. Thanks to @Cha, @Fabien Monleau and @Juan R for managing the convoy. For a first-time Fewbie drive @Theo09 you were exceptional. Also, a big shout out to @Rk ram, @FERNANDO SYRIO, @Saverio Arena & @Cristian for your flawless participation in the drive. A map and few stats from my gps recording:
  9. The following is the convoy order. We will be on Channel 2 for the drive tomorrow. See you all. Take care, heat is a terrible these days. See you soon.
  10. A colleague in our office must do an Oman Run, so I convinced him to do an Oman Marathon instead. We will start this Sunday and just drive and be back in a couple of days. Much of it is going to be just driving.
  11. @Theo09, @PETELCZYC PAJERO - luke, @FERNANDO SYRIO, @Juan R, @Gok Krish, @Rk ram, @Saverio Arena, @Cristian, @Fabien Monleau, @Cha Thank you all for joining the drive. I will be posting the convoy order later in the day. Request you not to be a No-Show and instead rest well and arrive on time. In case you think there are going to be any issues withdraw from the drive. Meanwhile do check the health of your vehicle as it will be quite hot very soon, touching 40 degrees by the time we end the drive. It is going to be a semi exploration drive with me, also expect drive to be slightly quicker than usual. We will start driving south from our starting point towards E14. We will encounter a slightly busy area, but it will have mid-sized dunes. Next, we will go West towards Qudra, parallel to E14. It will have long range dunes where we will try to climb them dunes and ride on top. At the end of this we will have our break and then drive northwest to cross a section of tight technical area and then cross a Sabkha to reach the west end of Little Sweihan. We will then drive east and end our drive near Solar Park. I plan to end before 9:00 in the morning.
  12. Excellent and informative write-up - it could not be any more detailed IMO.
  13. JL's rear bumper is the most obvious indicator. If they have changed or replaced it that means they have done a bit of off-roading. SWB bumper breaks in perhaps the first trip into the sand but JLU can sustain some minor abuse. If they say it is a lady driven car never been into the desert - just look at the bumper to have your confirmation.
  14. Congratulations @Theo09 on your promotion to FB.
