  1. @Anish S please remove me from waitlist... unfortunately my work schedule has changed and I won't be able to drive... thanks
  2. Eid Mubarak to everyone celebrating!
  3. Well done @Lakshmi Narasimhan You're very committed and am glad to see this promotion for you 👍. Nice job!
  4. Hi @AlexM Just like you, I also don't really like getting up at 03h30 (even though I do it for for work) for an early morning drive. The idea of driving in the afternoon (now in summer) is different to the reality. The early morning temperatures are bearable, and one can exit by 9/10am (as @Frederic has mentioned) - having the whole day ahead of you even if you take a 2 hour nap after getting home and showering. I've found the afternoon (summer) drives tough on the car, and me.. due to the heat. I've also noticed some members are, shall we say, less patient 🤣 During Covid, we don't always actively participate in recoveries, meaning more stress and physical work for the marshals/leaders, which may not be fair, and take longer than if we were participating. This picture may look different in winter. Something which may likely be good for you are the summer night drives - normally starting at 9 pm or 10pm in summer, for 3 or 4 hours. A different experience, and much cooler. While not as common as morning or afternoon drives, they are an option. Sometimes a marshal may post a drive (depending on their availability) for the next day - which may start at 5pm until 7 pm for example, meaning you're still ok for work the next day. As others have said, personal preference. I had in my mind though that I would be doing afternoon drives most of the time when joining Carnity - after experience, my drives are either morning or night. Try different ones and decide for yourself! Welcome to the club.
  5. Thanks for sharing - relevant especially after @Yawa 's question/comments yesterday.
  6. Enjoyed our drive this morning with a smaller than usual convoy. Thanks @Jeepie @M.Seidam and @Ranjan Das for the support. Appreciate the forum advice on tyre pressure for my new Geolanders - today 12psi was good for me, next drive I'll try 11 or so. Will also post some pics to galley. Have a good weekend everyone 👍👊👍👊🤚
  7. Looking forward to the drive tomorrow morning... I've just fitted Yoko Geolandar G015's and tomorrow will be my first drive using these tyres. Am keen to see how they perform especially after hearing majority positive reviews... Does anyone in this drive ride on these (or similar all terrain) tyres, and can suggest an optimum pressure? Of course there'll be trial and error. Previously, 13PSI worked well for me - that was on regular (road) tyres. So looking for input and opinions... thanks
  8. @samamara I've recently fitted both front (which extends to cover the area just under the number plate) and rear plates, and happy to have done so especially during my fewbie drives. I had to look at the cost of the plates, versus potentially damaging expensive engine parts during the drives - and in hindsight was a good decision. Great comments above, especially the explanations from @Gaurav and @Frederic, as usual. The rear bumper in particular is vulnerable, basically acting as a scoop at the wrong angle, so this needs attention. For me personally, a kill switch is not a priority at the moment. I have the same car as you. We don't share workshop names/details on the portal, but if you'd like to discuss further/including workshop contact, feel free to contact me - 050 734 5801.
  9. @Chaitanya D thanks for this.... Pictures very helpful too. My 10 year old son was very interested to read the article too 😂🙏
  10. So much great input as usual ! Personally I've found 4H works better for me, especially when needing power to go/push up dunes... I have a LWB 3.8. Agree with the others that that personal driving style and feel is important. @Paolo Pellegrini I found a big difference when driving using tiptronic - I now only use the tiptronic (mostly 2nd gear), as feel the automatic (D) is too slow to respond. There may also be a subtle difference between the 3.5 and 3.8. My car uses stock shocks, and there's no lift. Summary: Tiptronic all the time, mostly 2nd gear (except when more power needed), and 90% 4H Hopefully my comments add some perspective - most of the comments above are from guys much more experienced than me.
