  1. This was an amazing drive today for many reasons. We had an excellent path set by @Simon D on one of his first drives as marshal. Felt like we were in very capable hands with good communication throughout the drive. We also had a good mix of technical, sabkha, sidings, and ridge riding, which I got a lot experience with today. It was good to meet you finally @Varun Mehndiratta and looking forward to driving with you again soon. Thanks @george charbel for making sure no one was left behind. I got to know @Faraz94 @Arravind @Stan @Deepak Eswar. It was also memorable because we actually made 52 kms in observance of the 52nd annual UAE National Day in more or less the same drive time as a normal drive. A testament to the guidance we had and of the caliber of drivers on the convoy. Impressive driving everyone. Finally and not in the least, it just might be my last drive as a Fewbie. I'm applying for Fewbie Plus today after finally being able to get in 10 drives in 6 months. This past year and part of last year was a challenge to keep up with consistent drives but I've done it today and what a great bunch of memories to have had on this one. Have an awesome week ahead everyone and see you on the sand soon! @Faraz94 @Arravind @Stan @Ishak @Deepak Eswar @Frans M @george charbel ( Convoy 2 - with @Simon D @Varun Mehndiratta )
  2. Feeling like I got my moneys worth from the skid plate but the original shop could have used stronger bolts. They used standard hardware bolts.
  3. Rear bolts sheared right off. After some help from Davie, Mike and Rob we got it off and I had to exit the drive because the entire front suspension was now exposed. Glad at least 3/4 of the drive was done.
  4. All back in place again. The shop re-threaded the skid plate and anchor points, and used stronger bolts and nuts than the other shop did.
  5. Not often that my car gets this much attention from others. 🤣
  6. That was a really good drive in somewhat different sand conditions for us. I had a small problem in my front right wheel well to sort out early in the drive and the after about 3 hours the rear bolts on the skid plate sheared off. As it turns out, the skid plate was good quality but the bolts were standard. Thanks @Davie Chase, @Rob S and @Mike M. for helping me get the skid plate off. I have set aside your straps and will give them back to you next time I see you on the sand. I've posted some pics in the gallery. Have a great week ahead everyone.
  7. One the best drives yet with Carnity was with you. Thank you and all the best Hisham.
  8. Guessing it was a shape stone as we were all travelling at a relatively good speed on this track and no one else had a rupture. If I recall, and Jerome can confirm, he said he thought it was the track that was making the noise. By the time I saw the tire and radioed to him there was much damage already like this.
  9. Thank you @JeromeFJ for a great morning out in the big dunes of Abu Dhabi and for the feedback. Good to meet you @DanielN and @Gautam Banka and to drive with you again @Abhilash Kottakkal. Have a great rest of the weekend and week ahead.
  10. This was a good learning opportunity for us. What looked like an easy fix turned out to be more challenging. After attempts to raise the FJ high enough to put the spare on failed because we couldn't get enough height we moved it over to the sand, raised it, and dug under the wheel to make room for the spare.
