Islam Soliman has been promoted to Expert level
Niki replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Announcements
Many congrats @Islam Soliman 🎉🎉 -
@PaoloMaraziti Amazon US has a list of their best selling third party TPMS systems .. and many with good reviews (volume and scores). Most deliver to UAE either via the .ae store or direct from US. https://www.amazon.com/Best-Sellers-Automotive-Aftermarket-Tire-Pressure-Monitoring-Systems-TPMS/zgbs/automotive/2201765011

Sorry you went through this trouble @Russ. If my wheels would fit the XL Apex I would have taken them from you to lessen the AED loss. @RooRzOn can you share the brand you used. I heard that after market ones give annoying warning when we are at Offroad pressure as they assumed we are too low. If it’s not that annoying in real world experience I will def reconsider after market TPMS

@Goutam massive thanks again… you just saved me a trip! That’s the store I was planning to visit. Will stick with Amazon as it’s also easier to return if any issues! noce to see your advice helping many more in my position also!

Service Intervals & Off Road Maintenance
Niki replied to Niki's topic in Toyota General Discussion Forum in UAE
@Ahab Shamaa as promised (and a little late) i have settled on the following Service Schedule: #1 Keep my Service Pack for the standard 10k intervals #2 between the Toyota Services (every 5k) i visit a offroad garage to have them perform a interim Service #3 I have found the attached guide (pls keep/print) to help me ensure the 'interval' and 'official' services cover the right right tasks. This is extracted from the Service Guide and brings the entire book into a single table with guidance on what to cover if car is used for off-roading. Why am i not using Toyota for all services (its not price) - when calling them to schedule a 5k interval service they pushed me to not book and wait for 6 months or 10k ... I referenced the owners manual and gave them the page, they called me back having consulted their mechanic and still insisted I come after 6 months/10k. Also I find it easier to instruct a smaller garage where you can speak to a mechanic on what we want done vs a sales rep on a desk. Later today I will tag many more of our FJ Owners in as we have a lot of new members and this may help them also. final thanks - to you wonderful Americans/Canadians/Australians - you do all the hard work for us and post on these forums!! i suspect working on your own car is part of that culture (plus having space for a garage vs us Europeans/Asians helps ) FJMaintenance.pdf- 19 replies

@sertac @Rizwanm2 and don't forget our trusty Dragon Mart. they are the source of all Xiaomi products in the UAE and i understand they have a dedicated storefront there also. online it is also available at a friendlier price point: https://www.dragonmart.ae/xiaomi-dashboard-camera-recorder-with-night-vision I am planning a visit there soon as I have read the A800 version is the one to pick up... hard to find the model number from the above link.

To lift or not to lift? That is the question
Niki replied to Foxtrot Oscar's topic in Nissan Xterra Forum in UAE
May I introduce you Angela, @Foxtrot Oscar, to our very own @Ahab Shamaa … he will have you emptying your purse with a smile! -
hey @Ahab Shamaa not at the moment however I was having some rattling which I found to the the factory tools for changing the tires moving around. I have emptied the baskets and tied these down and will test the noise this week and def let you know. The baskets are secured via plastic feet to the base also .. so no metal is touching the plastic body of the car. Let me test this week and give you some definitive feedback //‘happy spending’ 🤦🏽♂️ … this should be on your signature permanent …

Coming back here as being inspired by the Molle solutions, I had a local fabricator copy an online set of baskets I had seen, with thick enough aluminum to secure items in the future and use the space above the wheel wells more effectively. Just sharing here as this thread had a lot of contributors plus inspiration for me and will set up a mirror of this on the FJ forum as hijacking the ‘X’ forum, though fun, isn’t fair

Extreme level promotion for nine members
Niki replied to Gaurav's topic in Off-Road Club's Announcements
I would like to request a counter to ‘team extreme’ … I would like to have ‘team easy-going’ opened up as a rank. Anytime you go >2.5k revs you are out … would be my pleasure being a founding member (or at-least try) #noPampersRequired- 43 replies

@Watteau the garmin ordered for the family car (thank you for this recommendation… perfect product for that daily driver). @Goutamthe Mai70 ordered for the desert car … ideal companion for the dunes and weekend use!
-
Many thanks again @Goutam!! Went straight to amazon and it seems a great fit! They have the hard wired kit as mentioned and ticks all the boxes! Will try and find the combination with front and back recording… thank you again! Super helpful knowing a real world experience! Also really kind of you offer to loan the spare unit! I will not need to take you up on that offer but it’s hugely appreciated
-
Many thanks @Goutam. I am actually looking for the family car (not Offroad.. however now you have me thinking about both 😱🤣😳) let me look up the Mai dashcam. I wanted one that would have a very wide recording angle and offer battery saving (prevent discharge) and accident detection so would trigger a recording if it noticed a potential accident) .. had an incident before ramadan with Valet parking and a few close calls recently so thinking it’s about time.

@Hisham Masaad if you need any support transporting/delivering these - i am happy to pick a batch up and deliver to those I am on a drive with next weekend (assuming we are not on the same ) 0551092859 Again massive thanks for this generous offer (not just the timber but the fact you sacrifice your weekend cutting/prepping these for the rest of us!!

@Frederic late THANKYOU ... really appreciate you making the time to lead these trips for us! I really enjoyed the evening and was so much fun just hanging out in such a spot ... add to that a stunning moon and a lot more learnt.... another perfect "Lens Lovers Club" evening. Looking forward to the next one!

@Hisham Masaad @PaoloMaraziti I purchased a Dometic Fridge that I have set in the middle seat at the back. It’s easily accessible from the front however I do have disproportionally long arms? It’s designed to be held down by the seat belt and stays nicely in place having driven with it for 4 drives now. It doesn’t cool heavily and my experince is endure the drinks are already cold … then the fridge works great keeping it that way! (Maintains -20 vs interior temp) I have seen online someone install a Prada Centre console fridge but I felt it looked too large and may get in the way when driving (elbows).

@Lorenzo Candelpergher @Ale Vallecchi you make a great partnership! Lorenzo you challenged us all and I tip my hat and fully compliment plus admire how those at the back end of the convoy managed as the tracks worsened! I usually consider the SL role the best seat in the house however on this drive it was likely a very challenging role and kudos to @Arman … as you mentioned he was flawless … and fast as @imranaasghar81 will attest this was a stunning drive visually, though we didn’t get to admire the views for too long. The occasional breaks were very welcome. The distance covered and pace doesn’t reflect the joy of this route! #1 pls do partner again and schedule part 2 of the drive #2 pls do consider not making it an ‘extreme’ (that’s a selfish ask I know) #3 make this a permanent addition to the carnity roster/routes I have added a few pics to the gallery. great to be amongst old and new friends on this drive and look forward to many more
