  1. Thanks to the concern raised by @Kalahari I found another major problem I would have faced if I didn't remove the bash plate of my XTERRA. The bash plate was constantly battered by the nose hits in the desert ditches and was bent upwards and made the radiator bracket bend too. The bracket was rubbing against the radiator and would have cast a hole in the radiator causing it to leak. As per the workshop the bash plate is only to ward away some of the hits but its not totally protective. Mine is a 10mm Aluminium bash plate. Still once the bash plate was bent it made the radiator bracket bend too. Thank God I didn't have to get stuck in the desert due to a leaking radiator soon. Imagine the effort to have made to recover the vehicle in that situation. Kindly find the attached pictures.
  2. Dear @Kalahari I hope this will quell your fears about the tow hooks in my car. @Gaurav I didn't experiment on the tow hooks by getting it fabricated myself. Got it fabricated & installed in a reputed off road garage in Dubai. Have posted the pictures. Please go through them and approve @Ale Vallecchi please go through the pictures and kindly approve my participation in yours and future drives.
  3. Today is 9th of March and tomorrow is my wife's birthday which I forgot completely as I was always thinking about carnity drives. Thank God I remembered in the nick of time or it would have been better for all of you to take me & leave me in the middle of the desert. I was so engrossed in drives I forgot her birthday is approaching. This is what elders says saved in the nick of time.
  4. I'm sure u didn't faint 100% but only 70% as they gave that much discount.
  5. Congrats @Islam Soliman. Looking forward to drive with you soon.
  6. I'm actually free on Friday but the whole week is busy with discussions and inspections from govt authorities for our projects completions. Don't know when I can give the car to fix new tow hooks. The garage told me it will take more than half day as they have to remove the front & back bumper to fix them. As other drivers are concerned about their safety I don't want to rejoin without the safe tow hooks.
  7. @Syedsalman Raza I hope your BP didn't shoot up seeing the beautiful bill
  8. The altima is taking rest as now a days I use the Xterra. There is nothing great in achieving those odo readings. Japanese cars are reliable than all others if you do the maintenance properly. In all these kilometers I changed the suspension only once along with the front struts at 400000 km. The rear shock is the original. Don't think I used the car very carefully. Altima's preferred pastime was jumping over curbstones. My ex colleagues used to say Thomas thinks his car is a 4 x 4 and the poor car will not even touch 100000 km to fall apart. I still keep it because I love the car and its the 1st car I bought when I came here. Its still in pristine condition except for some holes in the seat cover due to cigarette ash flying around.
  9. My car is due for renewal. Its Dubai registered. Do I have to clear the fines to renew the registration of the car? Last year when the fine discount was going on my car was registered without paying fines. Is it still on or has it gone back to the old system of clearing all fines?
  10. Thanks to everybody who supported me in my difficult times. Never knew I will be making friends at this age. Once upon a time when I was a teenager I had lot of friends. When the daily routine changed to working, running business, looking after family the friendship circle started to becoming smaller and smaller and finally it reached zero. I'm so happy that I have friends who I can call as friends. I could see the people who come for off roading come there as they take it as a hobby and want to spend some time away from the bustling world and want to be themselves. See you all soon in the sands. Sad note - I got a fine of 700 AED on 26th Feb at 1.07 pm at Al Dhaid. For sure I must have been speeding to reach the drive.😔
  11. I'm recharged and ready to drive again. Sorry for the indecision. Not quitting. How can I when I have so many friends here. See you all soon in the sands
  12. @Islam Soliman you correctly echoed my sentiments. I don't want to leave but feel I don't belong there. I have joined in @Carnity to get some relief from the stress of running a business when everything is falling apart. 8 years of hard work going down the drain. I know how I built this business with having only 200 AED in my pocket when I left my last job. This was the place where I could find some solace. Now I feel alienated. I even gave up boozing on Thursday evenings so that I can drive with you all on Fridays. Driving with you all and capturing those moments in my camera became my passion.
  13. This is nothing. You already mastered the art of driving on tarmac. Was it easy? Anyways you decided to sacrifice your precious machine on the altar of sands. So why fear? Let go off the fear and you will master the desert.
  14. Don't forget to remove the tire from the rim, clean it thoroughly and refix it.
  15. There is only one way. Try try harder try even harder and you will master the art of driving on sand
  16. I don't want to miss your drives angela @Foxtrot Oscar. There is nothing much wrong about me. I was fed up at getting my promotion declined all the time after so many drives and signed up with another club to continue. I felt I don't belong in this club anymore. I joined your friday afternoon fewbie drive as your drives are always pure excitement and I love them. Anyways my subscription is still active. You are so dangerously addictive. Tow points will be fixed day after tomorrow and will present myself with new tow points and a new transmission cooler if possible. Even my car gets excited in your drives and his temperature rises up.
  17. ok kalli walli keeping away from angela @Foxtrot Oscar's drives. I joined. How can I resist the fun. I give in. I lied about keeping away.
  18. It was not only the BP. I was getting too much addicted to this sport. I had to take a break and I feel I have to take a break even from the club. Most probably I would leave. It was a pleasure driving with you @Foxtrot Oscar and will miss your drives.
  19. i could have but opted out as I need to get some rest after all these 3 months continues drives. Almost 3 per week has really taken a toll on me and my car
