  1. Wishing you a very happy birthday @Ale Vallecchi!
  2. It could be argued that the plate helps protect vital parts such as the radiator. The term "modifications" is broad, perhaps they can explain (over an e-mail preferably) what specific modifications they refer to.
  3. That sounds expensive @Super Safari Girl. I am attaching two pictures of the one I've got in my car, it is a 10mm thick plate, you can see the pain it has taken Do a quick internet search for "patrol y61 skid plate", you will get interesting results that will help you in your decision.
  4. My first drive in Abu Dhabi @Frederic and what an amazing areas it offers for off roading! I am really keen to return and hope to visit some of the legendary areas people talk about like Sweihan, Liwa, Bu Tais and others. Thank you for having us in the drive and take us to explore the Al Fayah area, the colour of the sand, technical and tall dunes resembled to many of us the Al Qudra desert and surrounding areas. @M.Seidam thank you for supporting the convoy, and rest of fellow drivers, it was a real pleasure to meet some of you for the first time! I managed to take just a few pictures and have posted them in the gallery. Bye for now and hope to see you in future drives!
  5. 🙋‍♂️ ...no space for waitlisted drivers? PCR test done last night just in case
  6. exactly, and the fact that a group of guys from garages in UAE recommend it, in my opinion, reinforces the Carnity mentality. I personally found that useful.
  7. Morning, recommend you to watch this video.
  8. @Goutam first of all congratulations on your milestone! What a trove of information you just published, thank you! You are the Edward Tufte of off-roading ! Looks like as intermediate you've met more new fellow drivers by joining newbie drive events, Al Qudra the most popular location for drives, Al Faqa from where you drive with fastest pace, most drives on a Friday and in the morning, and Jeeps seem the most frequent brand in Carnity drives since you started. If everyone's profiles was updated you could even pull a chart with the drive with most nationalities in it (the United Nations drive?) 😎 Again, felicitations on reaching the 50th drive, wishing you many more to come! Wishing you safe drives ahead.
  9. @Lorenzo Candelpergher I use an OBD to better monitor the coolant and air intake temperature in my car, the device I have is obdlink mx+. During our last drive in Area 53 I recorded the whole drive using Dash Command, almost 2GB of data, which I still have to analyze. The Patrol Y61 seems to have limited sensors, other cars like yours probably have more and an OBD will be a good addition to your tool box.
  10. Frankly speaking I have no idea, I found it in a fbook group for owners of Nikon D850s. However I would assume users will not feel they are transporting an observatory or Hubble telescope with them 😅, the system might be transportable for enthusiasts who will seek areas where light pollution is minimal.
  11. ...and here is the video I took and it is a bit long, but again, was a great drive. At 13'20" I got crested, lesson learnt for most of the drive: stay on ridge, control throttle 😎 Cheers!
  12. Amazing drive @Lorenzo Candelpergher, without a doubt everyone had fun and an adrenaline fix that am sure will last all week. I had an amazing time and learnings from those refusals and the spectacular crest 😅. According to my tracking we effectively went beyond the 1000m objective, I can see this a theme for drives aiming for distance as well as climb. Thanks again! Thank you for hosting the drive and thanks to the support team, @Alexander Alcala and @Hisham Masaad, as well as the seniors making sure the convoy continued moving. Everyone it was a pleasure driving with you all. I left a few pictures in the gallery. Have a great week ahead!
