Dear @Emmanuel @Kalahari @Shyam Karat, just wanted to thank you for sharing your expertise and supervisory skills in the drive this morning. Being positioned second last in the convoy enabled me to learn from the members ahead of me in the convoy in today’s drive. Whether it was a refusal they encountered or getting their tires buried into sand, I can’t deny the fact that I tapped knowledge in those instances by purely watching the members and listening to instructions issued by the experts. That said the real champs I must say are members who were caught up in those situations as that’s a whole different experience apart from just gaining knowledge. All in all the drive was good, the terrain and path/route were good, challenging at times but manageable. So thank you all and enjoy the rest of the weekend!

Notwithstanding the several refusals I had in succession, I enjoyed the drive.......a big thank you to @Rahimdad, a man with skills, knowledge and a great sense of humor. I also wish to thank @Mohamed Seidam for his continuous help on several occasions of refusals, not forgetting @marks for his diligent guidance on my first refusal. And ofcourse the rest of the members in the convoy for their patience and team spirit throughout the journey. @Serafino thank you for your assistance in double checking my tire pressures. Finally the selection of the location and route was great, the highlight was scaling the heights of The Big Red.....have a great weekend chaps!

Well done Matt! And well deserved! Was great meeting you in person! -
If I may add my two pennies worth to this discussion. There are pros snd cons to both approaches IMO. Circumstances dictates which approach is more of a convenience. For normal fun drive the manual approach gets my vote. Crawl control in my view is synonymous to saying “let’s off road with driverless cars’ which is no fun if we get to that stage. Embracing new technology is great but would consider that if I have not set out for a fun drive and only after I have exhausted the skills I have tapped on manual recovery. I have a FJ Cruiser 2016 model and it is equipped with crawl control. I used it once and probably resorted to it because of my lack of experience. That was before joining the Carnity club.

Well done Pancho! It was a pleasure to make your acquaintance on my first absolute newbie drive two weeks ago -
Dear Gaurav, I do have a question in that in the last couple of days we all have probably experienced a late start to the day on account of dense fog descent on many part of the roads. Should that be the case tomorrow what would you advice we do. Whilst I am geared up for tomorrow, I just want to be sure I understand the plan should such an eventuality occur. Put it this way I set a good part of the day for the drive so waiting for the fog, should there be one, to clear up is not a problem at all. regards william

Hi Gaurav, Many thanks for a good report. Your comment about the radio comm is well noted, can’t really explain how I lost comms, but will nevertheless be cautious on the next drive. All in all, I had a great time. Thanks to you and Pancho for your meticulous guidance. I also wish to express my appreciation to all participants who showed a great team spirit! Thank you. Wishing you all a great week ahead! regards William
