  1. Thank you all for joining the drive this morning. We had excellent weather and sand conditions, .... and the drive was beautiful. Almost virgin dunes for the first portion, just off Nahel, starting smooth, but presenting nice sharp ridges, and gradually increasing to higher dunes and bigger bowls. Perfect for a warm-up and for practicing ridge riding and criss-crossing. Then a more technical portion, until we reached a track leading to the camel farms in the sabkha. At this point we were facing the massive dune of Nagrah. These slopes are always impressive, and we could test the power and capabilities of our cars (and us drivers) with several high climbs. Then it was time reach to the exit, and with a convoy now fully awake, and released from the initial apprehensions, it was a fluid 40min run, just enjoying the rolling dunes. Overall excellent level for this FB drive where we have driven more than 75 km. A few recoveries with shovels, 2 of them a bit more impressive, @premindra rajaram on a crest with a rear wheel high in the air, and @Bravoecho stuck above a bowl at a very steep angle. For the latter I've preferred to anchor the car from the top before starting the actual recovery, just to be sure that the car remains on the safe side ! @Benjamin, thank you for the 2nd lead, perfectly executed. Excellent control of your car as usual. @Ishak, the confidence is coming, and your driving was more fluid at the end of the drive. Good job take the Pajero on top of high climbs. @Bravoecho, @Bashar Beasha keep watching the moment where you loose your momentum and need to turn down on a climb. With practice, you will get more confident. It was already improving by the end of the drive. @premindra rajaram, try to avoid hesitations, that lead to your car being stuck in insecure positions. Confidence will come with more drives also. @Jaro Tuzinsky, thank you for the support, and re-aligning the convoy when needed @Gary F, @Pascal, @Bjoern excellent control of your car in almost every situation, you area really comfortable at this level, congratulations Finally @Chris Wing, always a pleasure to have you in the drive. Big thank you for the sweep and support. Don't hesitate to post your photos and/or feedback of the drive. See you in a next drive !

  9. Dear Drivers, thank you for joining this morning, cutting carefully through the early morning fog to reach the meeting point. Once the briefing done, we had enough visibility to start going, and even if it remained cloudy in the first hour, we had then beautiful views of clouds and mountains, until the sky was totally cleared. I like this itinerary, because if offers a great variety of terrains. We have the small dunes at the beginning as a warm-up, but the hidden bowls soon require to be fully awake. These bowls and the long dune are a perfect preparation for the last part of the drive with higher slopes to come. Then the scenic technical portion, with the red/yellow sand facing the dark mountains is just beautiful. And then we have the slopes of Faya dune, with the big drops and the high climbs where the words "keep a constant momentum" and "don't fight the gravity" take all their meaning. @Abdul Basit Khan thank you for the second lead, very well executed. @Thejas Uthran, congratulations for your 1st FB drive. Your driving is precise, and you managed to take your car through the obstacles. @Rashid Alseeni, well done also for your 1st FB. A constant momentum will help you to pass smoothly the bowls and the climbs. @Nadeem Ansari, 1st FB drive also, once the tires pressure was adjusted, you have improved the behavior of your car. Be more focused on your line and momentum to progress in the coming drives. @rohit kumar, well done for the 1st FB as well, the Raptor has a lot of capabilities, but still it is a heavy beast that must be kept under control, you did it well. @Gary F, @Joseph Sebastian, excellent drive for both of you. remember to keep the control at all time, including in the descends. @Bjoern, excellent drive, and many thanks for the sweep, and to your passenger for the comms ! Finally @Islam Soliman thank you for joining and supporting the convoy from the center. Always a pleasure to drive with you ! Enjoy the rest of the weekend and see you next time !

Dear Desert Drivers, The drive on Saturday is one of the "classic" drives that offers a perfect combination of small dunes, medium size bowls, long side slopes, a more technical patch, and some higher climbs in the last part. 16. What a great drive today ! First, the cool weather. Enjoying the cold breeze, and this humidity feeling is so rare in this country, it was like a winter (ok, autumn maybe) day in the mountains ! An empty desert; we crossed only one convoy, that is very minimal for Sweihan on a weekend. Then the sand conditions. The sand was still soaked with water and it made the driving so special. solid and heavy at first sight, but very easily loosing the grip, and becoming slippery like mud. Then a small group of very capable drivers, ready to tackle the obstacles with determination, but aware of the conditions, and cautious in their driving. We started directly on the high dunes close to the road, and with the first steep criss crossings, we rapidly realised that this wet sand was making a real difference. After the first 3-4 cars, reaching the ridge was becoming a challenge for the rest of the convoy. With some adjustment to our driving we continued to explore the area, enjoying the empty dunes and ridges. With only minor stucks, 1 car crested, 1 pop-out and a few re-attemps on crossings, we made our way to the Old Lady Dune, stopping en route for some high climbs. The heavy and rolling sand made the descends challenging also as it was more difficult than usual to slow down the cars and to control the fishtailing. The breathtaking view from the top of the dune was the final reward of the drive ! @Joji varghese, thank you for the 2nd lead, perfectly executed, @Salim Akhtar, kudos for your first IM drive, nobody noticed it was the first one !, @Simon D the roaring of a Y62 inside a Pajero is always amazing, Angela @Foxtrot Oscar it was a pleasure to have you in the drive, @Amr Aydin, very precise driving as usual, @Rajiv Sam nice to have a 2nd FJ in the group, @Beide Worku, excellent job handling the heavy truck in these conditions, @MMansoor congratulations for managing the sweep in the churned tracks ! I couldn't take pictures, please post some photos if you have. Enjoy the rest of the weekend, and see you soon.

  18. Dear @Mbk, welcome to @Carnity. I see your name in the wait list, and I see you have just joined the club. You will see that we have a grading for the level of the drive, with a progression scale from one level to the other. This allows to have an homogeneous group for each drive, to ensure enjoyment and safety for each driver. Even if you have previous experience on your own or with another club, you shall first attend a Newbie drive, where the club rules can be explained, and your level assessed. Then if relevant, you can apply to recognize your previous experience. https://carnity.com/forums/topic/16479-off-road-club-grading-structure-v30/ https://carnity.com/forums/topic/15974-transfer-your-previous-off-road-experience/ My drive on Saturday is Intermediate Level, so you cannot join directly. I will have to remove your name from the waitlist. There are 2 Newbie drives on 29th Jan. They are full already, but if you wish so, you can add your name to the waitlist to these drives. https://carnity.com/calendar/event/1708-morning-newbie-desert-drive-faqa-dubai-29-jan-2023/ https://carnity.com/calendar/event/1710-afternoon-newbie-desert-drive-murquab-dubai-29-jan-2023/ Thank you for your understanding
  19. @Salim Akhtar, you are the last one in WL for a first drive, I will add you for tomorrow. Please confirm you are still available and motivated
