Thank you all for joining the drive yesterday. We had a great time exploring this area of Nahel. After the technical warm-up, the first portion of nice rolling dunes was just beautiful. Smooth slopes, gradually building up to a big dune. still some soft sand patches, bumps and pockets were spread around, as a reminder to keep the focus in any conditions. A pop-out of @Jessica Lambert was fixed in record time with an excellent team work. On the way down to the sabkha, @Beide Worku noticed weird noises from the front axle, and wisely asked to exit early. Using sabkha and tracks I took him back to the starting point, and we were ready for the second set, crossing to the E16 Sweihan Rd. Again we started with a nice set of rolling dunes, higher than the first ones, and in a deeper desert environment. We were lucky enough to watch a falcon enjoying his breakfast prey, and of course the more common camels. Again the dunes were building up on our way to the West, until we reached the majestic slopes of Nagrah dune. Circling around the massive dunes, we found some play areas, to get a good feel of height and big slopes, despite the cross tracks and the other turbulent convoys. Time passing we made our way to the exit, through a challenging set of climbs in the soft sand where you all impressively followed your lines, until we reached the exit track. Well done everyone in this terrain apparently not so difficult, but requiring a continuous attention, and for controlling you momentum in the bigger climbs. Big thank you to @Zixuan Huang - Charlie and @Charbel for the support and the few tugs, @Chris Wing, always very reliable 2nd lead, @Imran Kashif, always helping also when a car is stuck. @Salim Akhtar, very well driven, @Jessica Lambert, you are getting used to your new car, in a few drives, you will make the most of it. @Gerrit Bus, always nice to have you, I hope your passengers will remember the good part of it. @Beide Worku, sad you had to exit early, but I see you participated on a drive the day after, so I guess the damage to your car was resolved. Enjoy the rest of the week end and stay tuned, I will program a second edition to continue to enjoy the area !

@Chris Wing, @Trekado @Jessica Lambert @Imran Kashif @Zixuan Huang - Charlie @Gerrit Bus @Beide Worku @salah2u, thank you for joining the drive. This area is wide and offers a lot of possibilities. Expect high dunes, soft sand, large empty spaces, also some technical areas, a few sabkhas to cross. You will need all your skills and concentration. We will cover minimum 60km, more likely 70 to 75 km. Be sure you have enough fuel for the drive itself. I will issue tomorrow end of the afternoon the convoy order and radio frequency. Please let me know before that in case you changed your plans.

Hi Jessica, good to have you. Meeting time is set for 6:15 am, and we will start when everyone is ready. In any case, we will not start before sunrise, which is..... 6:17 am ! For everyone, as usual it is better if you can arrive at the meeting point a bit earlier to prepare your car. I am not setting a time for the start of the drive itself, as I don't want to create unnecessary pressure en route to the meeting point. Especially these days the hours before sunrise are foggy. Just take sufficient margin to reach safely the meeting point.

Thank you for joining the drive this morning ! This small group was perfect to explore this area. I'm still wondering how to qualify it : technical and high ? highly technical ? technically high ? Never mind, these portions of empty dunes and virgin ridges were beautiful. and navigating through these required all your skills and capabilities. The sand was very very soft, making the track difficult for the back of the convoy, and deep bowls, pockets, ditches, shrubs, rocks were all around, requiring full concentration. If I want to summarize, first part was beautiful sharp ridges in the morning light, middle part was a big Little Sweihan, very challenging to cross, and the last hour was just pure driving concentration, in a mixed terrain. Thank you for the support, @Looperand @Waqas Parvez securing the back, @Chris Wing watching me as SL, and adjusting the track, @Santoso Marjuki and @Rajiv Sam participating with excellent team spirit. Excellent driving from all. @Tom B, sorry to miss you, you made the effort of repairing your tire this morning, and you took the decision not to join as the repairs was not looking reliable, It was a wise decision, thank you for that. I will keep a spot for you in my next IM drive ! Enjoy the rest of the weekend !

Dear Desert Drivers, Nice to see a full group already motivated from the beginning of the week ! In the drive on Saturday we will explore a portion of the Sweihan area that is not driven so often. Starting from the E16, just at the outside of Sweihan town, we will drive West, parallel to the E20, until we reach the E75 on the other side. Expect empty portions of desert, some high dunes, mainly in the first portion, long virgin ridges, with bushes and shrubs in the lower parts of the dunes, and technical portions with soft sand with some nasty hidden pockets. All this will require your full skills and attention. Depending on how we progress, will use some sabkha areas to link between the dune portions. We may drive up to 80km, ensure you have enough fuel at he start of the drive. Stay tuned, more info to come tomorrow, with final list and convoy order. Let me know before that in case you changed your plans.
