  1. I really enjoyed my first night drive and was lucky to be following Hisham with his amazing lights and more experienced driving. I could see my old technology halogen lights wouldn't work well for night drives. After having just a small time in the dark on our last afternoon drive, my wife said no way she is going on night drives with our stock headlights. That's all I needed to hear before heading off to off-road parts shop. 😁 Hoping these lights help give me a little more space for momentum and provide a little more confidence to the wife when she decides to come along. 😁 pan widget
  2. Great drive. Also hoping for many more weekday night drives. @Hisham Masaad . Following an experienced driver for my first night drive allowed me to learn Alot. @Chaitanya D Thanks for well organized drive with a long convoy at night. Well done!
  3. Few pics of new tires. Not easy to find , slightly more expensive then Geolandars. Quite ride, absorb bumps better than my other tires. They seem heavier then my highway Nexens but guess that's to be expected. 275/70r16 Michelin Force. Fingers crossed I don't need to swap them on Dubizzle for Geo's haha
  4. Cosmetic mod is still a modification right? Had to get rid of the Prado Tire cover. (Shop bought a Prado one and put it on after the original flew off??) Not happy they lost an almost impossible to replace OEM cover but this OEM soft cover one is kind of cool. I didnt like the look with soft cover only so added the chrome back on it. haha I will likely remove this one and just run the Tire and wheel without cover. Will try to get pics of new tires later today for anyone following along with my build. Not much left to do replace on it now. For tomorrows drive, greased prop shafts, checked fluids, knocked some dust off air cleaner, cleaned AC evap the best I could in parking garage, adjusted hood latch and re-aimed new headlights.
  5. Haha yes I searched every shop in UAE. All showed stock online but then when I called.. No Stock. Send me your whatsapp number.
  6. Found it, great feature Carnity!
  7. Quick update after first drive. Ride is better than the Nexen on road for sure. They absorbed bumps better then Nexen at 32psi even at shop pressure of 45 psi. I went down to 35 once home. Hopefully they work well in the sand. Tread isnt very aggressive but more than an highway tire. Tread looks deeper in person than camera could capture. I could find actual weight specs and didn't get to check sidewall flex at the shop. Should be able to tell when I air down. At 14 psi my other tires looked almost on rim. Haha
  8. Thanks for more info Lawrence and Gaurav. I have had BFG on other vehicle for use in Mud and rocks. I agre,e to heavy for my already heavy LC. If I had much more power I would consider them since road noise doesnt bother me much. I am looking at the specs for the LTX Force. Looks like they have a more aggressive lug pattern and upgraded sidewalls from older versions. I may try them and see how it goes. Truth is I likely wont have the experience any time soon to out drive the limits if the LC or the tires anyways haha.
  9. @Batuhan KulacThanks for the info. I am leaning toward Michelin for sure. Just not much info on the LTX Force that I could find. On another topic my wife and daughter both love G Wagons and they are not common where we lived in US before Dubai. She even has the small diesel GLK to drive in US when we are on leave but wishes it was a real G. haha We watched the latest video of your car yesterday in amazement and some fear . You are a good driver and it is great to see the heavy G in the sand. Hopefully you will be in front of us on a Newbie or Fewbie drive one day so we can see first hand.
  10. Looking for some new tire advice. Car use is road driving few times a week short drives to malls, restruants, etc. once every few months longer trips to Fujeriah area. Likely , continued weekly trips for Carnity drives in desert. Was thinking to go to slightly more AT tire when I change tires . Will this help steering and control in desert for my heavy Land Cruiser and/or will they be more durable? Current tire is Nexan HT. Thinking of going with Geolandar G015 or the Michelin LTX Force. The difference on price is not large enough for me to mind of Michelin is better. Would really like to know any experience with the ltx Force in Sand? Plenty of great reviews on the Geo's. Now I am leaning Geo for off-road performance and LTX on-road. If they are equal off-road I will likely go Michelin. Welcome all thoughts and expirience.
  11. @Wrangeldthanks for another great drive . @Watteaugreat call having me stop from backing into a worse stuck and knowing when to call in more help to figure out the situation. I think it was a good "first stuck". @Nikigreat pics of my old Land Cruiser. Trying my best to keep it stock. Shocks were much better than the old wore out ones. Just when I was running out of things to fix It blessed me with a nice clunking sound from the rear. 😀 I really enjoyed the mixed drive and appreciate the more experienced drivers joining in allowing us to watch and learn.
  12. @WrangeldRank for me is still Newbie with 2 drives. Honestly, I was going to skip a week until I saw there was a spot on this drive open with all the expirienced drivers. Couldnt pass up that chance to learn.
  13. The foam cell shocks are only slightly firmer on road. Cornering is more solid and braking is much better. Offroad drive was great. No more bottoming out on small steps and no more nose diving in quick corner. It's a little more work to get the big land cruiser u-turned compared to all the the swb and Jeeps but the tighter suspension helped a lot. Decided to remove my air compressor from its case and mount it in the rear after it falling over in the sand a few times. Basement parking is dark and hot but it's bolted down and wired in.
  14. @Frederic @Chris Meir @Shaaz Sha @Kailas thanks for a great drive. @Nafly Azhar great job being first Newbie in convoy and tackling the challenges first. @Fabien Monleau we enjoyed watching the 76 series. It's one of our favourite cars. Hopefully Covid restrictions lessen soon and I have a chance to meet each of you personally on future drives.
  15. Not bad, mine has tie straps now with no jumps. Haha
  16. Haha to be clear. I didn't drive it 20 years on stock shocks in desert. I have only been on two drives. Shocks are original and 22 years old though. Swapped them today and the slightly firmer ride with less bounce does make car feel much more connected to the road. . I will report back on any off-road differences after Friday.
