DRIVE DESCRIPTION We will drive through, around, and over Salamat. If there is sand, we will drive over it. No Refusals. No Stucks. No Radio Chatter. No Breaks. I'm joking about the breaks, we will def have some pauses for tea. If you've done a FB+ with me in Salamat, it will be similar, but faster. DRIVE DESCRIPTION Under a moonless sky in Al Khatim, we begin. Phase ZERO marks the first chapter in a series of dedicated New Moon drives designed to sharpen night-driving skills and build true confidence in the dark. With no ambient light to guide us, we rely on discipline, positioning, radio clarity, and trust in our convoy. This mission will focus on riding high along the ridge lines — maintaining smooth momentum, controlled throttle, and precise steering under limited visibility. Drivers will practice deliberate criss-crossing on larger dunes, learning to read terrain through shadow, feel, and formation rather than sight alone. The objective is simple: overcome hesitation, refine control, and transform the dark from uncertainty into advantage. This is not a speed run. This is calibration. This is Phase ZERO. We kicked off right on time at 8PM, engines humming and radios crackling under a perfect desert sky. The convoy lined up sharp and ready — proper discipline from the get-go. We started with a solid 10km stretch cruising along the sabkha. Fast, smooth terrain to warm everyone up before we dipped into the soft stuff. You could feel the momentum building as we peeled off and turned into the dunes. Then it was game on. Once in the desert, it was all about flow. Lots of looping lines, clean ridge riding, smooth transitions. The convoy spacing was on point and the rhythm just clicked. No chaos, no panic — just controlled, technical fun. Ridge work was especially solid tonight. Clean approaches, controlled descents, and no sideways cresting. It’s always good to see drivers reading the terrain instead of fighting it. Massive shoutout to Jerzi on her first Fewbie drive. What a debut. Calm, composed, and taking instructions like a pro. That step up can feel intimidating, but she handled it brilliantly. Proper progression drive. Not a desert night without a bit of mechanical drama — and this is where the team spirit really showed up. Alberto’s car needed some attention, and everyone jumped in without hesitation. Quick assessment, calm coordination, solid teamwork. Special thanks to Chris for sorting out the transfer case. That’s next-level support right there. Having technical knowledge in the convoy makes all the difference, and it was massively appreciated. Thanks JC and Diego for 2L and sweeping duties. I'm sad I missed out on seeing baby camels tho! Please shout at me louder next time! And of course… thank you all for the cookies. 🙏🙏🙏 See you all in the sand again soon!

@Eddie-Dune-Glider i have the exact same creaking noise from drivers side suspension since day 1 with the car. no amounts of grease, silicone lube, or suspension component changes have removed it. if you find a solution let me know pls

At the end of the day @Noufal nothing beats time in the seat for how far ur car will take you. both of these cars , and lots of others, will give you amazing fun in the desert and take you everywhere. Pick whichever U like best 😎 @ChrisW @Mike M. @JC_E @_Herman_ @Frederic @Giacomo

as long as plastic / rubber in front should have no issues.

@Noufal I always switch to 'drive-mode = 'BAJA'' and just keep it in D always. update: once in baja mode you need to press and hold for at least 15 seconds the traction control button to fully disable all electronics related to traction AND stability control. You Do Not need a kill switch once engaged like this. ABS is disabled, and curtain airbags etc are disabled. the baja mode holds the gear you are in, and ensures that turbos are spooled up and ready to just GO as soon as you touch the pedal. just point the direction you want to go, and hit the accelerator.

if I was buying again,.. I would still go for ranger. 😎 @Frederic is right,.. parts much more available for the Jeep(esp aftermarket accessories), but this is changing as more rangers get on the road and al tayer/ford are supporting parts better. I only had a 1 day wait for parts the last time i broke something. The CV axle is certainly the weak point compared to the solid axle... but i treat my car pretty harshly and it has held up mostly well to the punishment. I do get jealous when I see @ChrisW removing the roof and doors when driving his jeep though....😁 @JC_Eits actually fake news that i get crested on EVERY single drive... there has been one or two i have made it through without getting stuck 😜 TLDR; GET A RANGER!
