  1. OK I'll start... Im trying to work out what the best solution is for mounting a phone or tablet that we can use for navigation whilst driving in the dunes.... my previous phone holder fell off, Currently I have concoted this weird mount made from a cut-up kids ipad case to hold the ipad which solts into the various coin holders and against dials on the climate control (pics below)..... its not pretty, but does the job,.. (like 90% of the time). What solutions do you recommend or have hacked together to have a good mounting solution?
  2. Thanks @Frederic ,.. will be handing a few of these out as the BBQ season gets underway. 👏
  3. ive done a lot of 'slow' navigating using the garmin fenix series of handheld devices... where visibility and speed of UI doesnt mater so much (backcountry ski touring)... and its absolutely superb once you have GPS+glonas or GPS+galileo Enabling multiple satellite systems and disabling data seems to give extremely accurate (down to 1 or 2 meters) reception once you have clear sky view. I've found the GPS+GLONAS with NO DATA to give the best results. Have been tracking it (fenix watch attached to grabhandle under winshield) and ipad in the car for a while now and found that gaia seems to veer off occasionally before re-joining the garmin route. ( ipad has no connectivity just relying on GPS) i'm gonna assume this is probably due to old ipad and not recording gps position as often or with as regular an interval between readings, being as accurate as the standalone device. of course the route plotting on the garmin leaves a lot to be desiered unless using basecamp........ but garmin doesnt overheat and turn off like the ipad does either.. but cant use the tiny screen to follow breadcrumbs while driving on my fenix, really just for route recording. holy grail has yet to be found
  4. Taking the high line on this one! 👍
  5. @Carl Stanley If you are keen on a little DIY, I installed and used the cronos 4x4 traction switch on my Pajero. Found it very convenient and had a cool feature for engaging 'front fake diff lock ' when the rear diff / 4L is engaged for self recovery.
  6. Beautiful sunrise drive. Some really nice golden hues on the sand. The whole convoy kept moving smoothly while enjoy some of the sidies on the classic big dunes of Sweihan. We crossed paths with a few different convoys throughout the morning, and fun time seeing some of the lines they were taking. There was a couple of minor refusals but nothing a quick shovelling couldn't fix 💪thx @Bjoern! Once we arrived at Nagra we took a couple of new routes ( for me ) to climb the big dunes there and got to enjoy some fantastic views... And ended off our trip with some camels just hanging out nearby before exiting in Nahel. Great driving everyone! See you all again soon 💪
  7. Hi @Gaurav, I will be running a little late and will meet directly at bbq point. See you all tomorrow for a fantastic evening 🤩🤩🤩

  15. I'm down in Abu Dhabi, but I believe there is quite a few wreckers in Dubai Sharjah that can help with finding Pajero front bumper. @Gaurav is probably the man I would ask for advice on where to look around Dubai 👍
  16. If you are enjoying offroading and think you will continue I would just get the bumper trimmed and fixed yourself, as it will likely keep happening with a long bumper. However if offroading will be regular occurance, getting a police report and doing through insurance (remember your car will be tagged as having had an accident if you ever want to sell). Is prob good option too
