I was reading this sad article about VW massive recalls for 500k diesel engine cars to cheat the emission test by VW planted defeat device in each car: http://www.nbcnews.com/business/business-news/diesel-recall-likely-only-start-vws-problems-n430896 Is anyone knows any hidden bad motive behind the petrol cars in UAE, any emission or any safety mistrust signaled here in Dubai, UAE as I am driving a Volkswagen since 3 years without a trouble, but after reading this news now I am scared to get behind the wheel and plus put my family in the same car. I really appreciate if someone knows any 100% legit green signal for all petrol engine cars, please share it so that I can drive comfortably.

Hey everyone. I wanted to buy vw beetle for my cousin. Somebody offered me an old beetle which is manufactured in 2000. Not really sure, if it would be a good choice to buy such an old car. Please suggest me if i should go for it or not.

Very good question asked. One thing I know is to take a good advantage of the warranty. Generally, all the new vehicles come up with 3 years warranty or sometimes 35,000 miles warranty. Warranty by the dealer covers almost everything which we call it as bumper-to-bumper warranty. So wheenever your car is under warranty, always take it to the dealer. Also keep in mind if you take your car to any external workshop when your car is still under warranty, it may affect the warranty as well. So ya, get it done free, when you know you have an option!

Beetles is a very nice choice in VW. But rightly said, the parts of the car are expensive and not easily available. I face the same problem with my car. Though the car is good but whenever i face any servicing problem, it takes lot of time to get the parts of the car easily. If you can live with this part (which is not always) then its a great car.

I would prefer new one... it comes with more features and options....and offcourse!!!its Very cool.....

@dubaimarian: I feel your pain and frustration as i have been to something similar when i first buy my car with zero experience. To be honest blaming previous owner is right, but not to generalize the nationality. From seller point of view if you perceive then no seller will ever tell you 100% truth about the real condition of car irrespective of any nationality. Second thing all German cars after 5 years become expensive to maintain and after 10 years damn fucking expensive, due to expensive spare parts and even more expensive labor hours as oppose to US or Japanese cars. I assume here if you got car in 10,000 then it must be closer to 10 years old and i can see that itself was a very big wrong decision you took out of your ignorance. On top of it when its your first car you want everything perfect and working to the same state as it rolled out from factory on day 1(you are not alone, everyone does that). Nothing wrong in it, but we all learn from our experience and realize which thing hold how much importance once we fall into that trap. Look at the bright side that you learned a big lesson and got hands on experience in fixing cars for 17,000 dhs (10+15=25 - 8 =17). I know its expensive and it might be quite a good money for you, but its still good that you opened the game with 10 in place of 100. Another friendly advise that after driving Polo (refined German engineering) you will never enjoy Nissan Tiida (tin can) and you will remember my words on your first test drive. My advise is to buy another polo or golf (which is more fun) and this time buy under 5 year old car (hope you can get bank loan on 5 year old model). Get it checked from Naboodah before you buy or from some other competent VW workshop who can assure that car is clean and not suffered with shortcuts on regular maintenance. Best is buy car that have full service history, even if you pay extra 3-5k for that car with dealer service history, then you can't go wrong. If you maintain same dealer service history then you will always have higher resale whenever you will sell after couple of years and drive with peace of mind. And yes its legal to keep two cars in one person name, as i have two cars as well but i will not advise you to keep that dying polo as it will increase the dent in your pocket than bringing any usage or comfort. Rest is your choice.

I am planning to buy a passat or GTI 02/05 model. Since VW is a premium brand, I would like to know if that requires certified service station for maintainence like BMW and Merc? What I look at is a car that can be handy and I can get the oil changes as and when required plus any repairs.

I've been driving VW car for more than 12 years. My first car was a Passat GLX way back in 2001, I bought a VR6 4 Motion wagon in 2003. Now I decided to go and get something fresh from the VW showroom, can you guys help me to select what should I go for my newest ride!

for the knowledge of Beetle fans, you know by 1972, Volkswagen had made more than fifteen million Beetles. By then, however other car makers in Europe, the United States and Japan were also building small car that people enjoyed driving. Beetle still maintains its position.

if its oil changing get a mobil 1 engine oil and go to a petrol station they can change the oil for you.

the pipe if changed the problem can be solved too.

there maybe some leak that you should be checked.
