Very enjoyable newbie drive! Amazing work everyone. Great lines @ChrisW Good mix of terrain and challenges, gave everyone of us a taste of what is like to drive in the dessert. sometimes “boring” sometimes challenging. loved it!

Hey guys, It was great seeing you all again this morning for our drive in the desert. As I mentioned, this was my first newbie drive as well (...as lead!), and I couldn't have asked for a better group. We started out initially moving slightly to the west, before turning back towards the east and heading into the sun. The initial dunes were flat and open, moving into slightly more technical areas which required precise steering, use of momentum and power. We had a few minor refusals and one stuck - all easily dealt with and a good way to build experience of how to move our cars on the sand. We then cruised easily towards the Fox Dens, making a few stops along the way to check tyres and manage a few more refusals. The Fox Dens sadly had no foxes today, but was a nice moment to stop and chat. Thereafter we proceeded east - some larger and more flowing dunes this time where we could practice driving at a slightly higher speed, before joining the "desert highway" and proceeding towards our eventual exit at Tilal. There was some great driving and friendly help towards each other today, which is the ideal environment for us all to be learning in - thank you. For future drives we can focus on finding the right spacing between cars (to allow us to better flow through soft/more complex lines). The level of radio/comms was great, and we even got to practice some more advanced stuff like losing our Sweep... 😉 A quick cut of clips from our drive, and a summary of our route below...see you next time! My thanks again to @Vanessa8580 for smoothing out my lines and helping me pace the drive correctly, and to @Ishak, @Diego and @Imran Asghar for helping to keep the drive flowing. Thank you, everyone, for today’s drive and for making me feel welcome on my first drive back with Carnity after three years away! I was definitely a little rusty, especially with the ridge riding, and struggled to keep up at times. I really appreciate everyone’s patience while I found my rhythm again. It was a learning experience, and I took a lot away from it. Unfortunately, near the end, what appeared to be a seized alternator left my car unable to continue. A special thank you to @DP1011 for being so supportive throughout, @Infaz for pulling me out with his Ram, and @Gaurav for taking the wheel of my car and getting it safely out. I’m very grateful to everyone who stayed and helped. I felt bad for holding the group up, especially on my first drive back, but your support reminded me why I wanted to return to this community. Hopefully, I’ll see you all again soon with the car sorted and a little more confidence! 🙏

RSVP NOW CLOSED @Vanessa8580 @Stephan Guglieri @RickardM @Rachid Elbouabidi @Ishak @Hakan @Nagarjun S @Rasna @Diego @Ana @saumik1989 @Imran Asghar Morning all! Ahead of our drive tomorrow morning I wanted to reconfirm our plans. We will aim to meet at the point below for 06.30 tomorrow morning. When you arrive we will line up on the left side of the track. Please be aware of the speed cameras close to the meet point - they are set at 100kph and it’s Abu Dhabi, so no buffer! https://maps.app.goo.gl/cuTYFzjjs9ZkkJez8?g_st=ic 24.3818030, 54.9872800 I would recommend you do final checks tonight, in particular making sure your car is ready, you have water and snacks packed, you have key equipment (flag, tyre deflation/inflation, shovel etc), and your radio is programmed for Channel 10 (446.231). When you arrive please do go ahead and deflate your tires (around 12-14 PSI should be fine for highway tyres, and you can go a little lower for all terrains), put up your flag and get ready. We will then get together for our briefing. The main goal for tomorrow is to enjoy ourselves in the desert and gain experience of how our cars feel on the sand. We will drive at a level which allows all of us to do this with smiles! I also 100% expect many of us to get stuck occasionally, and that’s totally fine - it’s all part of desert driving and nothing to fear We have some excellent support tomorrow with Vanessa. Ishak, Imran and Diego. Looking forward to seeing you in the morning, and if you have any changes of plan, please do let us know here.
