Lakshmi Narasimhan
Last week I tried driving on automatic mode for 5 min that too around 7 AM and had overheating problem with 2 auxiliary fans running. So this is a never ending problem with pajero, need to drive only on manual mode and always 👀 pop out looking into gauges!!!!

It was the fan which I install got worked sometime and doesn’t sometime as it got struck with some dirt, when that was cleared and fan running properly theres no overheating problem for the last 4 drives even on steep climbs. Pretty much relaxed now. 1
Jeetu Sharma
Thankfully even I did not have any issues on my last drive. I used 4HLC and tiptronic. I guess the key was to ensure minimal gear shifting (I made sure I maintain 2nd gear and kept an eye on the RPM as well). Since the drive was relaxed without steep climbs (only exception was Pink Rock ) that helped too. I'll need a few more drives to further solidify my stance. @Lakshmi Narasimhan Good to know that the fans are helping. I will keep this in mind for future updates. 3
MANOJ NAIR
I had the issue of transmission overheating in my initial drives. But recently I added one more oil cooler added ( as per advise of mechanic). My last drive I didn’t have any issue. Need to wait and see in more drives if it occur again.
celoalvarado
Hello friends! User from Costa Rica here, I own a 2018 Pajero 5 door, which is giving me a big headache. It overheats when going uphill, driving in D or Tiptronic does not make a difference. Driving 2WD or 4WD is the same result. I notice when it starts overheating because the A/C starts getting hot, then the needle in the gauge goes over the middle line. When I start going downhill, it regulates and all fine. I have already changed to a bigger radiator, new fan clutch, new thermostat. I'm planning to do the bigger transmission oil cooler and aux fan for it, what do you recommend? THANKS IN ADVANCE! Hi @celoalvarado! The overheating issue mentioned in this post above is related to the transmission overheating, while yours looks like the engine is overheating. This should definitely not happen on a Pajero. You have approached it correctly by replacing the radiator, fan clutch, and thermostat. Another possibility could be perhaps the water pump that is not circulating the coolant properly. I don't think a bigger transmission cooler or aux fan will help here. There seems to be a different reason why your engine is overheating. I you changed the thermostat and radiator recently, are you sure there is no air left in the system? You can check in this way: 1. Start with engine cold → remove radiator cap 2. Fill coolant to the top of the radiator. 3. Start engine with radiator cap off. 4. Let it idle and watch for: -Air bubbles coming out -Coolant level dropping Once: Bubbles stop Engine reaches operating temp Coolant level stabilizes 5.Then put the cap back on securely. "Go as far as you can see; once you get there, you'll be able to see further."
