Morning Fewbie Desert Drive - Tilal Sweihan: Outrun the sun - Abu Dhabi - 21 Sep 2025

Thanks to @Luke K P and @Davie Smooth_Operator for putting your heads together and working out a drive for us all today!

 

A nice prompt start in the cool air this morning got us away well, with the convoy soon warming up to a good flow. A nice mix of terrains, with some longer open dunes to stretch our driving and engine revs on, and then some tighter more technical patches. 
 

Some great skills on show today - good convoy discipline, helpful radio work and everyone managed to self recover without any dramas. I think we also exited at just the right moment - good call, Luke…and thank you for the karak!

Thanks for the overview @ChrisW. Was certainly a fun drive. Minimal refusals meant we covered a lot of ground today..

Was pretty exciting seeing the camels running around, a tiny gazelle, and I think @Steve Farmer was saying he saw some desert mice scampering about.

Support team didn't have to do much work today, but when required you guys got the job done quickly so we could keep moving. Thx @Davie Smooth_Operator @ChrisW @Aser

Excellent control and pace from the whole convoy, was a pleasure to drive with you @Zsolt @JC_E @essam ibrahim and @Andrei S

We made it through 65km in just under 4 hours 💪 😎

@Steve Farmer Just noticed your picture in the gallery…those cameras are a right of passage! I have a very similar photo of my old Jeep…

Doh! The cameras must have been feeling a bit sensitive yesterday! 

If it makes you feel better, I drove home with one of my flags still attached,.. and now have the same broken flag mount as you after trying to park in my apartment block garage 😅🤦‍♂️
