smoke coming out of exhaust and burning smell

there is smoke coming out of my 2000 Honda civic and i can smell something burning

It must be oil burning smell, that means piston rings is leaking engine oil in combustion chamber and leaving smoke.

If smoke and power loss too, then check it cud be head gasket leaking.

Both are serious and expensive to repair.

Also if engine is high mileage at the moment above 200k kms, its an indication that engine is asking for overhaul now. Which is even more expensive and time consuming than both the above problems.
