Ruth
Hi there, A few months ago, I left my LR3 in to be serviced with a very well known (and popular) Land Rover specialist in Dubai. The car was left out in the open sunlight for a few days...when I got in to it I actually burned my hands trying to start the car...it was the hottest it has ever been. After I drove off (sweating) I realised that the dashboard had a number of cracks in it. These were definitely brand new and happened while the car was in the care of the servicing garage. When I spoke to them about it, they said a couple of other customers had similar problems and they would look in to how they could resolve this for me. So I waited and waited and heard nothing from them. Now it's time for the cars next service, and I contacted the same garage to book the car in, expecting that during this service they would fix the dashboard problem. Aside from this dashboard issue I thought they did a great job on the service and was happy to have found a decent and reliable place to service me car. Now they say the dashboard cracks can't be fixed, and that the issue is 'ongoing'. In other words they are not going to do anything about it. I have no idea where I stand with this. They told me that it is a common problem with LR3's and Range Rover Sports that get overheated. But if they specialise in Land Rovers surely they would take care not to leave these particular models sitting in direct sunlight for days on end. The dashboard looks really ugly now and I'm worried it will affect the passengers airbag. I guess the only thing for it is to replace the dashboard. I would really appreciate if anyone here in Dubai could let me know if they had a similar problem and if it was resolved? Also, how much do you think it would cost to replace a 2005 LR3 dashboard? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thanks!
sohailrangi
You left with two option Ruth. Option1: Fight with those moron's and let them pay for the new or used but uncracked dashboard for your car. Option2: You pay yourself. Accept it that plastic once cracked and broken will be not be repaired and you have to replace it for sure, so moving forward you need to accept it who will pay for it. If i am in your place i will definetly make them pay or call the police and make a BIG BIG scene in their workshop to scare few other customers and write my experience in 10000000 of online forums until they actually fix my dashboard. Three years back i had something similar with VERY reputed car dealer here and soon after my all the online activity, there SZR service center manager called me and apologies and fix my problem and offered discount on next service too. Unfortunately customer service is little low in this place so you got to fight for your right. So dont be shy, its your car and its your money.
