shelf life of break pads

what is the shelf life of the break pads as they were changed like a bit more then a year back and now i feel that there is a lot of effort to stop the car then it should be

If titan has no indicator on dash like armada then best is to hear squeaking esp metal screaching noise as an indicator for worn out pads.

Pedal pushing more could be due to low brake oil in cannister. However there is no certain life of brake pads, it depends on usage only.
