how dose a 5 year warranty battery die in a year?

i had to change my one year old battery as the service man at the workshop said its the reason that the car is not starting.

The battery was expensive with 5 years warranty ( i lost the receipt so i couldn't get it changed) so how did it get exhausted in a year?

Batteries can worn off due to quality issue. Or due to fluctuation in alternator which charges the battery. Get your alternator volt checked going to battery to make sure that alternator isnt overcharging, thats a main killer to ruin any battery.
