Dear Friends, great morning out in the sand today ! We managed to build a fluid convoy, flowing from one set of big dunes to another, riding the ridges, circling the bowls, climbing the big faces. We had a few challenges, starting by facing the rising sun, exactly in our eyes in the first hour, but also the beautiful contrast of climbing from a dark side in the shade, switching on a ridge to a bright sunny sand slope. Many cross tracks in some areas, but we could tick the big climbs of the Sweihan area. After the first hour, the sun was not a problem anymore, but the wind was rising, blowing sand everywhere, blurring the view for the crossings. At the summit of the Old Lady dune, it was impossible to see the actual ground, covered by the flying sand, and we dived directly into the steep descend. Unfortunately @Joji varghese had to leave us, his car deciding to go 2H only. In the last portion by Al Ain Airport, the big bowls were abused by cross tracks, and a motorbike/ buggy rally was in the way, but we managed to find nice virgin portions, steady climbs, before a fluid finish to reach the exit track. More than 70 km, average moving speed above 25 km/h, barely a few refusals, this is proof of the skills and focus of each driver, but also the cohesion we managed to build within the group. @Joji varghese @Mark B @Jaro Tuzinsky @Jona @Zed @Joseph Raju @Naveen Raj @Rajiv Sam @Amr Aydin, thanks again for joining today ! Enjoy the rest of the weekend6 points

Dear Desert Wanderers @Aser @Prithvi Raj @Hani Howeedy @Shaun J @Abdul Hannan @Rob S @Sandeep Nayar @Abdullah N @Harshal @Simon D Thank you all for allowing me to take the second convoy I thoroughly enjoyed our drive together on this beautiful Saturday afternoon. we had a bit of everything, start off we had a technical patch to contend with then the dreaded bushes, reared their heads and then some mid range dunes as we entered lisalli, which allowed us to practice sidies. you all drove amazingly well with only a few stucks and refusals great second lead by @Aser you kept a good distance to allow me time to call out left or right by X car widths or the don't follow command, you executed this with perfection which made the drive a lot smoother so well done and thankyou Thanks you @Rob S for coming in @center forward always a pleasure to have you support my drives as it relieves a lot of the pressure having someone as calm and knowledgeable in the middle of the convoy, thanks and appreciated. Our sweep for the day was @Simon D, hope your father enjoyed his day out with us he seemed to have a big smile on his face at the end. Great sweep my friend taking care of the rear of the convoy allowing me to focus on the lead. Appreciated and thank you. Have a great rest of your weekend one and all.5 points

Dear desert wanders @Patrick van der Loo, @Issam Atra, @Emmanuel, @george charbel, @Bjoern, @Gurcharan Mehta, @W a q a r, @Rafey Hashmi, and @Alphin Aloor first of thank you all for a fantastic drive this morning. everyone drove exceptionally well. A big thank you to: My Second Lead @Emmanuel you did a fantastic job if keeping enough distance to adhere to my call of slightly left or right or stop don't follow. so well-done mate was a pleasure to have you behind me. Our fantastic Sweep @Patrick van der Loo excellent job assisting with a few refusals at the back and helping me where I needed help, thank you and very much appreciated. Our Center Forward played a blinder as always taking control of the center of the convoy and managing the few stucks we had, as always @Imran Asghar a please to have you along and makes my life easier having you there. We had one incident that required so work to recover the vehicle, so a special shout out to @Gurcharan Mehta for putting the power of the 392 to good use in towing our stricken FJ out to the subcar and onward to the recovery point, we could nor have done the recovery so quickly without you. So an extra big thank you from me to you my friend and hope to see you with us in the sand very soon. @Issam Atra I hope you are feeling ok, and please remember that all that matters in these situations is that you are safe and sound and arrived home with your family. I hope you get everything sorted my friend and if i can help at all please do not hesitate to contact me. Hope that you all can enjoy what is left of the weekend. See you all again in the sand very soon.3 points

A couple of reasons: 1) living nearby the coast of UAE will have some toll on your underbody. In 2018 we bought a Pajero from a doctor in Abu Dhabi who never took it off-road but the underbody looked bad. The salt in the air when you live near the coast is responsible for this. 2) I went to Oman last summer with our Patrol and spent a few hours driving along the coast line on the shore itself. By the time I got back to Dubai I noticed the salt already started to create discoloration on the chassis (not yet rusting), and that week I decide to take it for rustproofing as itβs my intention to keep the car for a long time. I took mine to All Terrain Performance UAE and they combined the rust proofing with front axle reinforcement (recommended for Patrol).1 point

not trying to undermine the value of this service in any way... but why? I can show you how a 14yo pajero's underbody looks when zero protection is done (basically it still looks like new thanks to the weather in here) or a 7yo merc parked in Dubai for the past 3 years... again: zero traces of rust, both cars look brand new when you look under. I can also show you a 5yo european import that went through 3 seasons of winter in Europe and got rust proofed right after purchase - it looks like crap... I am trying to understand why is this service so popular here, where there is no salt and snow on the roads in the winter. Why are we saying that Dubai's weather is so bad for the underbody of cars "living" in here?1 point

An Introduction to Queen It's not easy to explain the band Queen and what they have meant for countless bands that were later inspired by them, and for the millions of fans that found happiness and joy in their songs. From the early 70s, Queen emerged as a band that wasn't afraid to cross musical boundaries. Was it Glam Rock, Heavy Metal, Opera, Pop, Disco? Well to be honest, they did it all, and seamlessly wrote music that 50 years later is still relevant and being enjoyed by the next generations. The movie "Bohemian Rhapsody", released in 2018, was successful in creating a biopic of a band full of extremely talented band members, helmed by a FABOULUSY talented lead singer, Freddy Mercury. Freddy, originally named Farrokh Bolsara, who came from Parsi Indian parents, born in Zanzibar, grew up in India, and ended up in the UK, was a shy sensitive kid behind the screens, but an enigmatic performer on stage. There was no Queen without Freddy, who carried flamboyance, style, but above all, a voice that could carry throughout a stadium and bring out emotions unlike any other performer that time. Throughout the years, the band and its members had their ups and downs, but the real magic was always to be found on stage. Their live performances were some of the most unique, and in the playlist for the Sonic Experience, a lot of them are incorporated to showcase how good they were live and how they got the audience to give them "a touch of the heavens". Queen has played all over the globe, with 1985 being an iconic year, where they played for a mindboggling 350,000 people in Rio, and played the Live Aid concert, which had 80,000 people attending and 1.5 Billion people watching that night. All other artists who attended the concert later admitted that it was Queen who blew off the roof of the stadium. Unfortunately, Freddy Mercury became HIV positive in the eighties, and during that time not much was known about the disease, that eventually turned into AIDS, which was incurable. Freddy kept performing until August 1986, and a few more albums were made. Freddy sadly passed away on 24th November of 1991. The legacy of Queen cannot be understated. Having sold more than 300 million albums worldwide, they are amongst the greatest bands that ever existed. Since Freddy's death, the remaining band members did not feel like they wanted to carry on or replace Freddy, but by coincidence stumbled upon Adam Lambert in 2011, who was the runner up of the 2009 American Idol contest. They ended up playing together and found a unique chemistry where they felt Adam could propel Queen back onto the world stage, and they have performed several world tours from 2014 until 2023. In his unique own way, Adam was able to bring honor to the band's original songs without being a Freddy Mercury clone. On the Sonic Desert Experience, the aim is to go mostly chronologically through their repertoire, with a mix of original video clips and live performances. I hope we can all sing together their most iconic songs and have a great evening out !1 point

One more drive video, one more experiment. In this video I have mimicked Jump Cuts with a single clip by cutting the video and changing the angle and FOV. It now looks like as if I had many different takes of the action from diffent angles. Earlier I used to export diffent angles and use either multicam which was slightly more efficient to cut but resource hungry than layering one over above another to do the effect. Now using a 360 video in Final Cut I can do the same with so much less time and processing resources. Post video export I observed that FCPX likes 90 degrees but Insta360 doesnβt. Enjoy some music while you watch the video.1 point
