  1. Dear Desertnauts A quick briefing before tomorrow's drive. We'll be leaving from Tawi Nazwa's farms, just north of Pink Rock, which we'll aim to reach through an area of interesting cordons, ideal for crossings, and to get used to a slightly faster pace. From Pink Rock to Big Red (and another tall star dune just before Big Red), then across the highway, and into Badayer proper, following the string of star dunes that will eventually take us to Super Bowl. Climbing is the purpose, so get ready to go up and down slopes at a whim. The more the better. The meeting, deflation and starting point will be: https://goo.gl/maps/2TNmooLCBv9xyYeg7 We'll try to start as close to 3 PM as possible, with the following convoy order: @lucas amat in Second Lead @Humi at #3 @B.K. at #4 @vinayak n at #5 @Mei ling at #6 @Senthil Kumar at Center @Martin M at #8 @Nicolò at #9 @Vijaya Kumar Doppa at #10 @essam ibrahim at #11 and @Mike M. in Sweep Looking forward to seeing you tomorrow for a fun start to the upcoming weekend.

  3. Your message cracked me up! You do know that being an Outdoorsman requires skills and the right gears/tools in almost everything to enjoy the outdoors (didn't want to dramatize it and say "survive"). The outdoorsman can drive a 4x4 and build a shade for you instead of looking for trees for shade as a Dune Basher. So of course you will see the highest number in Dune Bashing, then overlanding and the Outdoorsman would be the least. Good discussion for next time we meet on the sand ... The idea @DP1011 is really to capture the preferences of our members and not what we do because what most of us do in the UAE is Dune Bashing only. This topic could also be used as a nice ice breaker for next time when members in the same preference bucket meet. Would you do Oman again @DP1011? Not a mind reader but I am literally seeing what you are doing ! or what you are trying to do at least

  7. I will never encourage solo driving for others as it could be dangerous but i agree with your reaction because once you get to a point of having full command on WHAT you want to do in the desert and WHERE you want to go, the passion you have for this hobby will go from 10/10 to 9999 out of 10. It becomes EUPHORIC and i am sure you will also get there with time. That is why i completely agree with what @Gaurav is saying about Dune Bashing and i have started to experience it not too long ago.
