RTA passing with offroad modifications
Gaurav replied to Shamil's topic in Offroad General Discussion
Shamil is no longer here with us. This testing centre seems like ras al khor Tamam. Tamam Vehicles Testing and Registration Centre - مركز تمام لفحص وتسجيل السيارات 04 706 9901 https://maps.app.goo.gl/eAAxxA8nAqxCyzSv5 -
Yes, Jerry, something like this but will post a detailed plan tomorrow with a lot of other details. We plan to have an exit every hour from 6 PM, 7 PM, 8 PM and 9 PM so that if anyone needs to leave early, then trip lead will take them out through the path of least dunes (2kms) till it connects to flat track, where everyone can switch on google maps and head out.

Welcome to Carnity of-road club. And congrats on the new Ram Rebel, indeed a very capable pickup truck and a good choice you've made. Please make sure that your Ram has a minimum of 8 inches of ground clearance along with front and rear tow point or tow hooks, as few Ram with sport bumper lacks both of the above mandatory requirements. From off-road gear requirements, you need to have a tire pressure gauge, deflator and compressor as a minimum. For your first drive walkie talkie (radio) will be provided to you by trip lead. From the second drive onward you will need all off-road gears mentioned as per offroad structure at different ranks. Hi Qaiser, welcome to Carnity off-road club and you are at the right place at the right time. Please go through the above drive post and read and watch all embedded links without distractions to be ready for your first off-road drive with us,

Was it a case of too fast, too furious - overshot the dune, or you lost track and took some extreme rider track?

I love your patience and sensible approach in analyzing things into right perspective and set your limits and goals. Congrats for SC and its wise to stick to Stage 1 to maximize engine usable life of 99 model, unless you rebuilt whole engine and upgraded internals too. Btw, ref to self recovering issue per last drive, I noticed you made a choice of Michelin which is good tire for road and sand as they are super light but they aren't good for self-recovery. If you really wish to have good self recovery capabilities then AT tires goes much before the diff-lock choice.

Wow, that sounds scary, good you and wrangler are fine. How did it happen?

4 LO or 4 HI, that is the question...poetic huh:)
Gaurav replied to JAISROCK's topic in Jeep Wrangler Forum in UAE
Read your owners manual for the same instructions advised above. With continuous LO gear use your transfer case and/or transmission may last for 3-6 months. -
To be more specific, unless you plan to do intentional jumps and hard landing you really don't need such level of reinforcements. Garages love to sell stuff with fear or for right kind of dakar rally racers.

First and the foremost credit of such remarkable drive goes to lead careful planning, understanding the convoy, and positioning them in the perfect order - which often goes unnoticed. So well done Angela, keep it up. And then second credit goes to each capable driver and teamwork roped with faith, respect and knowledge to trust each other as a good team player. Se well done to all great drivers and support members. Angela, congrats on the first nose dive, as every lead need few story with their scars to share the action.

Congratulations @M.Seidam @Hisham Masaad and @Shaz Shah for successfully completing the first session of leaders lead with flying colors. As you all have learned the basics first and demonstrated a perfect way to lead an independent drive in the desert, now it's your chance to work on the routing and planning skills. You will be learning the basics of leading the convoy in the desert in three different steps: Advance sand reading, plan your lead, plan your exits. Use of navigational software for selecting the right course of path. How to systematically scale the lead for all the cars in the convoy. In this second session of leaders lead you will be leading with the help of off-road navigation app or device. You can choose any device or app (motionx, gaia, mytrail etc) and mark these basic points and you will be required to reach any one or few of them: Entry and Exit Solar Park Al Qudra Desert Opp Bab Al Shams Mark long range playable dunes Mark pylon tracks, cycle tracks Mark as many sabka, flat track or easy exits in case of emergency Mark fencing or restricted area Mark technical dunes P.S. I will personally check each of your device to verify and help you further.
