  1. TRIP REPORT Finally after a long break I could able to enjoy Abu Dhabi terrain with some awesome dunes and great company today morning. It's always amazing to see so many new faces and beautiful cars ready to taste the sand for the first time, make me truly excited and honored. Almost everyone was on or before time, thank you very much for that as it helps to get started with right mood. It was nice cold in the morning that whole drive I enjoyed without AC and breeze was very pleasant even when we ended up the drive. Although it was a mix drive of newbie and absolute newbie, we barely had two stucks (learning moment) with couple of refusals. I also had a chance to explore Khatim area with a guidance of @Asif Hussain perfect route planning and preparation. We still need to explore Khatim more as I see huge potential from today's drive. For Carnity newbie level drives, you don't need any mods instead use these 5 or maybe more newbie drives to learn the art of off-roading to correct your lines (MOST IMPORTANT), techniques and vehicle handling. Learning the skills is very important, as there is no replacement of off-road skills and once you start developing yourself you will realize thatwith stock cars you can do wonders. Most of the seniors here driving stock 4x4 for a reason as they are far more reliable than highly modified rigs, that need every week mechanic attention. @GauravSoni thanks for your wonderful second lead and following all the instructions with utmost attention, except the excessive honking (lol) (love to tease) at times. Once you have few drives experience, you will develop faster steering control and start anticipating moves ahead of time. So far you are doing good and keep learning. @Magdy Zahran it was nice meeting you with a good off-road spirit. Please watch the video briefing completely without any distractions. As you keep joining and building on your offroad skills you will understand and appreciate the off-road structure for your safety. Please do get the hitch receiver before your next drive and configure your radio with all Carnity frequencies. @Nazier Isaacs your spirit with Land Rover Discovery was truly amazing and I was impressed with your fair control and caution to keep the bumper trim intact during the whole drive. It was my main concern in the morning but when I checked in mid-drive I realize that discovery is indeed in sensible hands and will surely survive the day. For the next drive, remove the bumper lower trim as eventually it will break as we do need minimum 8 Inches of ground clearance, more the better. @mikaeel shaik thanks for showing us new 4x4 - MG RX8 that seem to be well designed for off-road drives and did fairly well today. Keep trying through newbie drives with caution because being a new vehicle in market, nobody has any experience or reference to make or compare to guide you. Ask MG if they have slightly thicker fiber bash guard or metal bash plate (much better), as existing one was way to thin to protect from any underbody impact. @Xavier Treasurer thanks for all the lovely support and coordination as a very responsible sweep. Thanks for sharing your hitch receiver with Magdy. It was nice to see your family and looking forward to see your little champ more often. Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7 pm. Due to the high demand, these drives get full in about 10 minutes, so please be online at 7 pm to book your spot. For the next drives, please bring along a deflator, pressure gauge, flag and radio as a minimum. Learn to deflate your tires and checking them precisely Learn to fix a flag on your car Learn to program and fully charge your radio Also like I mentioned during the debriefing, join the Carnity Whatsapp Drive Notification to get the latest updates on the drives, so that you can RSVP on time for the next weekend's drive. 3. Hi @Biju Abdul are you still interested in this evening fewbie drive? Please confirm. Two spots are open now.
  4. Hi @Magdy Zahran @Srijith Gangadharan @Juanruiz @Nazier Isaacs @mikaeel shaik welcome to Carnity and it's off-road club. Please share your vehicle details - Make, Model, Year. Do you have any prior off-road experience? Confirm your vehicle has minimum 8 inches of ground clearance along with front and rear tow hooks. If in doubt, share your car front and back pictures so I can advice you accordingly. For your first drive, we will provide you with the spare radio and you just need to get tire deflator and gauge.
  5. Hi @clm mlf welcome to Carnity. First and foremost, may I know why are you choosing 2 door Pajero, specifically? Looks, off-road, fancy, special affection, etc....? Mitsubishi maintenance and spare parts (including used, aftermarket and OEM) are inherently expensive than any other Japanese brand. And that reflects clearly with low resale value of Pajero's. Just like to make you aware of this fact before you actually finalize your deal. Now let's talk about 200,000 kms mileage is considered high mileage vehicle and it will definitely require some extra maintenance within next 3-6 months of your purchase. On the bright side, although Mitsubishi parts are expensive but they also outlast others so if you plan to keep this vehicle for long time over 2+ year you will have trouble free ride after initial hiccups (if any). Mitsubishi Pajero's are good solid and reliable 4x4 if you take care of them. Last but not least, make sure that the last timing belt has been changed around 100K - 120K (max) and if it's not been changed at all, then simply walk away from this deal - as that tells enough of how good owner did the previous maintenance irrespective of mechanic or mutual friend tall claims. If timing belt has been changed at 100K, then you should be doing it again now at 200K and that is an expensive job so factor that immediate expense to price your deal wisely.
  6. Sure will add you here, as I was waiting to hear from your YES/NO reply from my earlier Pink Rock message. @Probir Mukherjee I have to remove you again as @Bhaskar was ahead of you. @Probir Mukherjee if you like to join morning Pink Rock in morning, I can add you there.
  7. @Melenany and @Probir Mukherjee you have been added to this drive now, please confirm.
  8. Waitlist: @Pancho you have been added to Manage tab to support Brette, please confirm @Francois Germishuys you have been added to this drive now, please confirm @Jihad Hachem you have already got confirmed for Fossil Rock at same time.
  9. Thanks Ranjan, for the confirmation. We will keep you in the wait list but below the guys who don't even have 1 confirm drive yet.
  10. @Ranjan Das and @topgear as you have confirmed spot in morning Bab Al Shams and Pink Rock drive respectively, we are skipping the queue to give chance for the waitlist who don't even have 1 drive yet. Please confirm if you if you like to do two drives on Friday, so we will add you in the existing waitlist or was it an optional to see wherever you get first availability?
  11. Hi @Ahab Shamaa, @Bhaskar and @Yusuf Esaf There are two spaces in Pink rock drive for Friday morning. So any of you can confirm and I'll request @Wrangeld to add you there.
  12. Nope, don't buy that as you won't be able to configure them without a cable, laptop and software. Buy the radio which has screen like Motorola MT777, Crony 777, Baofeng UV5R.
  13. I cant open the link, but seeing the url saying Pajero Evolution then I'll be your best friend, whenever I visit my brother in London. On a serious note, these exotic will be super expensive to buy and maintain and plus with regular usage it will cost 5-10 times on maintenance than any other choices.
  14. @GauravSoni and @Kaushal Prithwani lovely pics, please post them in image gallery. https://carnity.com/gallery/category/338-ab-newbie-qudra-dubai-09-oct-2020 Every drive has its own album under gallery tab. https://carnity.com/gallery
  15. For COVID test from outside Abu Dhabi residents you can use the SEHA App to do drive in test. https://apps.apple.com/ae/app/seha/id436297690 Appointments are easily available within 1 day span.
  16. DRIVE REPORT First and foremost my apologies for delayed trip report. It's always amazing to see so many new faces and beautiful cars ready to taste the sand for the first time, make me truly excited and honored. Almost everyone was on or before time, thank you very much for that as it helps to get started with right mood. As many of you have asked me same question, during and after the drive about your car and required modifications. I just like to explain that why we recommend every car owner to drive at least 4-5 drives before thinking about any mods, so that you can actually identify the real bottleneck by yourself to spend time and money. Spending money on off-road mods is an endless pit and before falling in the trap of off-road garages or hearsay theories of chip tune up, suspensions, exhaust, air filter etc. you need to do thorough research on what do you actually expect from that mod. Try to understand its real need based on cost vs benefit vs reliability. And to truly understand it's need you need to test your vehicle for few drives, before jumping to any expensive conclusions. For Carnity newbie level drives, you don't need any mods instead use these 5 or maybe more newbie drives to learn the art of off-roading to correct your lines (MOST IMPORTANT), techniques and vehicle handling. Learning the skills is very important, as there is no replacement of off-road skills and once you start developing yourself you will realize that in stock state you can do wonders. Most of the seniors here driving stock 4x4 for a reason as they are far more reliable than highly modified rigs, that need every week mechanic attention. @Kaushal Prithwani and @Ahab Shamaa you both have the best offroad vehicles in a very good state, simply focus on your off-road drives and your SWB Y61 and FJC are perfect to take you to the Intermediate level without any issues. @Sai Baskaran and @GauravSoni we have so many stock Pajero here, apart from rear bumper scooping and occasional transmission light popping you should be fine with your cars too. Search both issues solution here and you will able to tackle them easily. @Mostafa Ismail you were pretty happy and good with your Prado and keep it that way, just be careful of front bumper and keep enjoying this beautiful vehicle off-road with luxury. @DeepakADS @Terence Sequeira and @Hussien Elleithy keep enjoying your beautiful trucks, being an extra LWB trucks are relatively difficult to handle in the beginning, but once you get hang of it, you will glide them nicely and take them everywhere. They have enough power and grunt for loads of smile. @Omar Al-khoori and @Arshad Roojee SWB wranglers are absolute fun for off-roading and I hope you have enjoyed them a lot. Arshad with heavy tires sometime transmission struggles, but try deflate to 12 PSI in next drive and see if it still display the hot oil message. If it still does, start with A/T oil quality and level check. Then get the transmission oil cooler, if its not there in your model (slightly involved job). If its there then add the oil cooler fan (easy fix). Big thanks to @Jeepie for supporting this drive and helping everyone with great patience and knowledge. Moving forward you all will be joining the Newbie drives and not an Absolute Newbie drive. Drives are announced every Sunday at 11 am, and they go live on Sunday at 7 pm.
