  1. @Gregory Perkin please RSVP any one drive if you like to join this weekend because once drives are full, trip lead may turn off the RSVP option soon.
  2. Absolutely yes, if you have driven off-road before. So that you can focus more on driving and learning, as self-drive 4x4 in desert is a series task and you should try to avoid any/all distractions while learning to do drive off-road.
  3. Welcome E.C. to Carnity and it's offroad club, we all have offroading scars to show off in our vehicles. Spend sometime on ton of off-road knowledge base that Carnity has and you will get to know us and off-roading little better. Looking forward to drive with you soon. https://carnity.com/clubs/off-road-club https://carnity.com/advice/offroad/ MUST READ: Offroad Club Structure, Levels and Rules Off roading - Everything you need to know Off Road Driving - Roles & Responsibilities Tire pressure deflation for off road driving Dune Crossing Tutorial and Techniques Emergency details for all off-roaders Multicultural Off Road Club in UAE Off road Club Grading Structure Carnity Off-road Certification Off road Driving Etiquette's Levels of Offroad Drive Off-road Convoy Rules
  4. Yes indeed you are right and we are thinking hard for having Saturday drives soon.
  5. To be honest from little research and quick look online, they dont look too different as in offroad tires tread pattern and rubber quality plays a huge role. Based on G012 insanely awesome experience from 7 years of offroad, I still suggest to try G015 as they look pretty much same. If anyone who have used both, can shed more light and correct me if I'm wrong.
  6. Welcome @Nacho to Carnity and it's off-road club. Your Jeep will bless you to bring her to the natural habitat and I'm sure as far as you are ready to learn this new hobby, your weekends will be loaded with lots of fun, excitement and boot full of sand.
  7. Welcome @Gregory Perkin you sound like my own experience of learning off-roading by myself, that took me 1-2 year to understand the whole game after expensive damages, lol.
  8. There are plenty of places in Al quoz: Robbies Motorsport, Icon Autos, offroad zone, AAA,
  9. And metal tubular bar added and that will not get pass wit RTA unless you stick two rubber bumps.
  10. In that case, do what Rahimdad mentioned, remove the front bumper skirt, drive for few newbie level drives to feel how its doing and what is really needed. Having a height clearance is only needed if you are totally convince that you can manage such LWB truck for regular sand offroading. Not many ppl can manage it easily tbh as it require special skills, patience and technique, but it's perfectly doable.
  11. First of all @Colin Jordan my salute to you for driving Cooper STT's on road with huge road noise and pathetic fuel mileage. Of course they look mean, but trade off is huge too. Deafening noise on highway speed. Lift or level kit comes bit later, first do share that which 4x4 you will be using more often for off-road Wrangler or Ram or both?
  12. Tires have manufacturing in 4 digit format like: 3516. Where 35 is 35th week of 2016 means Aug 2016. From last two members (@Wrangeld and @Xaf) who wanted to buy Yokohama Geolander commented that they aren't available at the moment in market. So check your size and its availability from more than one shop. Gulf coast, Ardh al emarat, Formula tires are all good competitive places to buy, next to each other. Online shops will have 10-20% more margin than these Shj boyz. https://goo.gl/maps/CsGj6rdJmB3AjYiA6
  13. OK, I think I understood your concern, here is my opinion based on my own experience. Michellin Latitude / Primacy (HT tread, not cross terrain): If you like to use your Prado for highway and sand without much of mountains. Advantages: Super Quiet on highway Very long usable life (kms) Light weight, ideal for fuel mileage and tall hill climb Disadvantage: Soft for rocks on wadi's and mountains Not great for self recovery in sticky offroad situations Expensive (800-900 / tire) Yokohama Geolander ATS Advantages: Great for offroad - grip, self recovery and climb Great for wadi, mountain and sand Long usable life Reasonable (450-500 / tire) Disadvantage: Little noisy on highway Little heavy to sip tiny bit extra fuel For highway terrain Michelin's are FAR BETTER than Dunlop Grandtrek, Bridgestone Dueler, Kumho and Cooper. For offroad terrain Yokohama geolander ATS are FAR BETTER than Cooper ATR, STT, BF Goodrich, Michelin Cross terrain and Nitto's. P.S. I have used all the above mentioned brands.
