  1. BIG SHOUT OUT AND THANKS to everyone who joined yesterday's Winter Welcome Drive with their friends and family to make it so grand and colorful. It was really nice to see almost everyone with their families prepping the BBQ and live cooking, while kids played around the whole evening. The real fun time was the stories and jokes after the food, which made us laugh so hard that none of us wanted to leave and push the time 30 min by 30 min. @DP1011 , Deepak wrangler your idea of serving pani puri in the desert was so epic and creative that more than the taste (which was AWESOME), I love this amazing concept. @Kailas u perfectly captured the @Gok Krish chef recipe to cook perfectly well-done thermo-controlled BBQ Chicken. @Looper 1 liter cans were another new stuff that I have seen for the first time. Thanks, @GauravSoni to keep us warm with Mexican flavor. @Frederic and @Vanessa8580 we missed you and the kids a lot yesterday - our true party companion. Wish you a speedy recovery Vanessa, so that we can repeat the same on New Year's Eve, soon.
  2. I totally agree with Seidam comment, you can join in AN convoy with me, as we will be taking the almost flat track to reach the gathering point with a little bit of sand driving.
  3. 3 Convoy drive RSVP is closed now, however, if someone wants to join to straight drive to the gathering point, most welcome until the last minute. Convoy 1: Radio Channel 1 - 446.006'25 Meeting point: https://goo.gl/maps/CvbAeQ4Drb4A5exp7 Meeting time: 3:30 PM @LKP @Verghese George @karlsberg @Brette Gaurav LKP Verghese George karlsberg Brette
  4. Ford Expedition is way too heavy for some dunes, but overall it's much better than Explorer. However, if you know off-roading Expedition is quiet capable on big dunes, due to the powerful engine. I had a friend who used to drive Expedition for good 2 years and nothing wrong happened except the side airbag popped on the higher level drive (he cud've pulled the fuse).
  5. Totally agree with @Imteeaz views on Ford Explorer, with limited ground clearance, and no low gearing, it's good for the beach or flat sand areas and not through the dunes. We have had many Ford Explorers in the past whose owners "just wanted to try" on Absolute Newbie drives and we have never seen them back in the same car again. Either the front bumper was damaged, the car overheated, stuck in weird places, etc.
  6. LC300 is indeed very capable off-road and on-road 4X4. You cannot go wrong with that choice, surely. As Fredy mentioned, big front bumper (which is much better than before LC200) you need to watch closely at a higher level of drive and not bash hard on every dune.
  7. @LKP @Verghese George and @karlsberg welcome to carnity off-road club. As you all are an absolute newbie to sand, so we will use the flat track area to visit first Oryx farm and Gazelle farm and then head to the gathering point. For the rest of the joinees we are splitting all attendees into 3 convoys led by Fredy, Kailas and Mehmet. They will be posting their convoy numbering and meeting point by end of the day today.
  8. You can apply for your promotion here: https://carnity.com/support/ Will gather all trip lead feedback and proceed accordingly.
  9. Yes, only if you can keep your pet under control, as there will be many kids and live cooking around.
  10. I rem how Fredy supported a lot with Belgian chocolates earlier, but now that support has vanished.
  11. Sorry for typo here too, he has been promoted to Fewbie level.

  16. Just like the old days, we used to have a similar one for latecomers. The last to arrive at the meeting point will pay for breakfast.
  17. I rem how u marked carnity branch office in Liwa Yellow truck trail. Dream come true. I have 40kg winch on my nose, 50 kgs in boot anchoring me all time, and I'm not carrying extra fuel for qua. 60 liter tank full to the brim will last the whole day.
  18. Humble request to all campers to be ready on time without any excuses, please. Please wake up an hour early to pack all your gear and be ready for the drive.
  19. Just for all newbies, please note below for Pajero's Essentials for newbie level: Removal of bumper air dam/body kit and rear bumper protection to stop sand scooping. Extra transmission fan Good to have at Fewbie: Bash plate and skid plate AT tires Once you do 20-40 drives and identify the real bottleneck then only decide for suspension, if it's really needed or not for your level of off-roading. Which means if you find yourself liking higher level, pace and action drives, then firm suspension adds good value but with big trade-off by killing the road comfort (no matter how any vendor advertises it).
  20. 15 ppl laughed at me, which means none of you really got the point. 3+3 hours on road for Qua it's gonna be a very boring drive on the tarmac.
