Welcome to the leaders lead - first session (1 of 3). In this first session you will very first break the fear of leading and what to expect, which is the biggest fear for every new leader and will do that formally and properly with this training. Training will start with briefing on: Leading (what to expect) Sand reading Dune reading Angles of approach How to see what's on the other side Safe entry and safe exits Speed vs techniques Idea is to let you lead in any direction to any destination just to get familiar and confident first with the base concept of leading. No one will judge you if you are too fast or too slow or too bumpy, as that's how everyone learn to lead their first drives. Absolutely Fantastic efforts put together by @Frederic, this is real gold mine for many offroaders here. Especially to our new leaders in making, please invest some time and get familiar with this app, as MotionX (my fav) is slowly fading off and on the verge of getting discontinued. @sertac @Chaitanya D @Kalahari @Tbone @Brette @Vanessa8580 start using this app and start getting familiar, as from second leaders lead drive you will be required to do planning and leading with navigation app or stand alone satnav (if you prefer). Thanks for your suggestion and yes we have been always trying to maximize all drives and not just newbie level as much as possible. For maximizing drives, our biggest challenge is and always will be the forecasting the perfect balance of drive to meet the demand at all levels. This forecasting needs a constant experiment as it's a moving target. @Srikumar has been appointed to manage this aspect and he is always trying to optimize the number of drives vs attendance. Just like in dunes you cannot replicate the learning of one dune to another, so Sri is always experimenting the best fit scenario with minimal waitlist but he has to constantly experiment this every week based on last weeks learning. And sometimes we do get stuck and face refusals like this week experiment of 2 newbie drives in the evening that caused a bit of disconnect with morning newbie drive. Within the last two months, Sri has successfully scaled with the constant support of all trip leads from 60+ signups to 100+ now (107 as of now). We are truly blessed with dedicated and passionate offroaders who love off-roading and gives us this weekly challenge. We do request all offroaders to extend their love and support during this unprecedented growth and learning phase. And be rest assured that we are on top of this matter and handling this with utmost priority without compromising on any safety aspect.

Leading a desert drive is the most amazing experience to have, where you can combine the fun, freedom, creativity, strategic thinking and survival skills all at once. Leaders lead is the drive where all participant of that drive will lead for a certain period of time. Backed with the right techniques, experience and supervision so that you can learn the art of leading with a peace of mind without any fear or pressure. Due to the basic experience required to read the sand and have basic navigational sense, this drive is only suited to the Advance level off-roaders. You will be learning the basics of leading the convoy in the desert in three different steps: Advance sand reading, plan your lead, plan your exits.
